  1. You must live further east than I do. It doesn't come on for 45 more minutes here. Can you help me with a little joke on my kids? Which 2 guys and which 2 girls get voted off? I'd love to be able to be "right" when I predict it at the beginning of the show. My kids would think I'm so smart! I wouldn't consider it a spoiler. I'm guessing Sundance...
  2. Where do you get it? I've never seen it. Is it trans fat free too?
  3. Our favorites were Stephanie, Jordin, Melinda and Lakisha. The girls were so much better than most of the guys! We're predicting that a girl will win it this year, although Blake or Brandon might surprise us.
  4. Autumn - I hope you and your daughter are feeling better! Shirley - I think you win the award for the most faithful member of our "group". I wonder if everyone else has given up? Yesterday was my older son's 12th birthday, so I ended up having dessert at grandma's and then cake and Rice Dream at home. I won't even go into the part about finding...
  5. It's beautiful! I'm sure your daughter is thrilled and I'm sure it will taste great!!
  6. Just to be clear - I don't think it's a good idea to eat raw meat. I was grossed out too. I just thought it was kind of interesting.
  7. Did anyone see "Wife Swap" on Monday night? There was a family on that eats a totally raw diet - even meat and eggs. The husband and children went in for a checkup and were very healthy.
  8. I was thinking more about this and realized that flood control came on when I was just searching through posts. Oh well, I guess it doesn't really matter.
  9. Blake and Brandon were our favorites. Blake is from my hometown - BOTHELL, not Seattle, so we are rooting for him. Sanjaya is from the town I live in now, but I think he's headed home soon. Too bad - he's got a good voice, but he's too young. Sundance is headed home first, I think.
  10. Going off gluten forever isn't that bad, especially when you feel good and are pain free! Same can be said about dairy. If you go off gluten for an extended period of time (at least two months, not just 5 weeks) you should be able to see a difference if it's what is causing your problems. I would suggest going off dairy for at least a few weeks too and...
  11. Thanks Bev! I checked "no", but wasn't actually formula fed. My mom gave me boiled whole milk sweetened with Karo syrup because my grandmother convinced her that formula wasn't good. Before that, the doctor convinced my mom that breastfeeding wasn't healthy for babies and that she couldn't possibly produce enough milk to ade quately feed a baby. I...
  12. Don't be embarrassed. This can actually be a symptom of Nephrotic Syndrome - a kidney problem. I have a form of nephrotic syndrome called Minimal Change Disease and there is a current thread going about it. Do you ever have swelling in your legs or a "puffy" look in your face?
  13. Me neither. Anyone?
  14. Yes, I'm Liz and I AM a food-a-choco-holic. B - chunk of smoked salmon (maybe 2 oz), 2 canned pear halves S - banana L - leftover white chicken chili soup, rice crackers dipped in spaghetti sauce S - a large handful of hershey's kisses (Hello me - I'm supposed to avoid dairy!) D - rissotto with chunks of chicken, cooked carrots...
  15. I think that Minimal Change Disease and Celiac are different manifestations of gluten intolerance. Fajitas is the only other person I've ever met or corresponded with that discovered that diet changes affected her MCD, but I'll bet that going gluten-free would help everyone with MCD.
  16. We use it for popping popcorn - gives it a movie theater texture. I also melt it and put it in brownies, cakes, waffles and muffins. I personally don't like to make cookies with it - they come out greasy.
  17. Now this would be an interesting poll! I wasn't breastfed either. And to make it worse, I was fed boiled whole milk sweetened with Karo syrup because my grandmother convinced my mom that formula wasn't good for babies. This was after the doctor convinced my mom that breastfeeding was unhealthy .
  18. My first noticable symptom was arthritis - hands, shoulders, hips and feet. It got REALLY bad and I responded well to gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free and soy-free. (Funny thing though - I realized that I did have other symptoms that I hadn't paid attention to that went away too.) I'm now arthritis free! If I were you I'd try more than 5 weeks. ...
  19. I haven't seen the Dannon commercial, but I've read this in several places. The small intestine is an important part of the immune system. Do a simple google search for small intestine and immune system and you'll get a boat load of information.
  20. Thanks for explaining it! I won't let my fingers fly too fast!
  21. It is understandable why you'd feel upset, but Tarnalberry is right. I've been working at the same school for 10 years with many of the same people. Everyone knows about my "allergies". In all those 10 years no one has EVER thought about what I can and can't eat for teacher appreciation days, staff lunches or snacks or twice yearly restaurant trips. I...
  22. Ooh, just the thought makes me shudder. Have you thought about banning wheat flour from your home? I had to do that, even with 4 kids, even when it was just me needing to eat gluten-free. I'll never regret that decision.
  23. No problem - I'll be at my computer for a little while this morning before taking off for the day.
  24. Fajitas - this person was "banned" from the list. Apparently she removed most of her posts or they were removed for her. (You only get banned if you're persistently rude or refuse to follow the forum rules. It doesn't happen too often.)
  25. Trader Joe's carries Arborio rice that makes a great Risotto. I just follow the directions on the box, but don't put in the cream or cheese and it's still yummy.
