  1. In fact, there was a recent post in which it was mentioned that their baby (yet unborn) has a cleft palate. If you do a search it should come up. I think it was within the last few days or so. HTH
  2. Suppose there are some snacks, and the perpetrator ate some potato chips, tortilla chips, and gummy bears, but never touched the Triscuits and saltines? So even though too many hands have been in the snacks to know who's DNA they have, the difference in DNA between the gluten-filled and gluten-free snacks reveals the subtle clue. Thing is...
  3. Not really. Of course, I generally just make up the recipe as I go along. I seldom follow any recipe, but mostly because besides gluten-free, I don't do dairy, eggs, sugar, and a few other things which have no relevance to cookies. I also never measure (probably works against me most times), so I just throw it together and work towards the right consistency...
  4. I think the possibility of your child being gluten intolerant is high, and the best thing I can suggest is to start the gluten-free diet immediately. It is often helpful to avoid dairy and maybe soy at the same time. Other members will also have plenty of good advice. I hope your child feels better soon. Welcome to the Board!
  5. The B12 can be in pill form, as long as it's sublingual. The one I take isn't a liquid either. The important thing is that it must be methylcobalamin. I haven't tried any liquid ones, because it seems to me that ten seconds just isn't enough time for it to get absorbed. Also the liquid needs to be refrigerated, making it less convenient for me. The B1...
  6. Yeah, and one thing I'm pretty sure is related, is OCD, so I'm surprised there hasn't been much discussion on it.
  7. Interesting. I thought the gluten-free stuff was real food! Everything else is poison, no matter how tasty it might be. And yes, gluten-free bread is better homemade. I'm still experimenting, but since my fav was always biscuits, not sandwiches (except for the PB&J), it seems a bit easier. For those interested in the site about marshmallow peeps...
  8. I just Googled to find these: Info about the condition: Open Original Shared Link Info and supplements that can help: Open Original Shared Link Support community: Open Original Shared Link HTH
  9. I would echo what casnco has said about your doctor. Also, I've read that the biopsy must be taken from near a rash spot, but not on one, or it will be inconclusive. Ever notice how doctors practice medicine? I wonder when they will get done practicing and actually know what they're doing.
  10. No, it's not unrealistic at all. There is a link between ADD and Celiac, just as there is with Autism, and countless other things. Check this out: https://www.celiac.com/categories/Celiac-Di...Celiac-Disease/ Here is a list of known associated disorders: https://www.celiac.com/categories/Celiac-Di...-and-Disorders/
  11. More and more I am of the opinion that Celiac (or at least gluten intolerance) is much more widespread than current statistics indicate. Maybe even everyone. Sorry I can't give any idea of what dermatologists know or think, except every person I know who I believe to be Celiac has gotten a diagnosis of something other than DH, wheat allergy, or anything...
  12. Well, I'm no dermatologist, but it sure looks like DH to me. On that basis, what I'd recommend is to avoid foods high in iodine, such as kelp. Use non-iodized salt too. I use RealSalt, which has all the trace minerals today's table salt could have if they didn't kiln-dry it at 400 degrees, bleach it, etc. It does have it's natural iodine intact, though not...
  13. Arrowhead Mills makes a gluten-free cereal called Rice & Shine, which is really delicious IMO.
  14. That's basically what baking powder is, only it uses a different type of acid, usually monocalcium phosphate or equivalent. There may be a possible difference in the duration of the fizz, but I haven't timed it. I did try baking soda and vitamin C, and it does work, but I didn't notice much difference between that and baking powder. I actually ran into this...
  15. I agree completely with lizard00's comments. So I'll just add my encouragement to stick with the diet, and see how much better you feel. And yes, the extra weight might easily diminish as your recovery progresses. Welcome to the board!
  16. I've seen a few posts which seem to suggest quinoa as a good source of fiber, but it has less than most gluten-free grains I've looked up. It does have carbs though. So I guess you're referring to the flax, right? Not to over-stress fiber, but t'eff can actually be a better source, since flax is normally eaten in relatively small amounts. For example, 2Tbsp...
  17. It really astonishes me that so many think meat is an "all-important" food. There's actually more than enough protein available from vegetarian sources. Plus the proteins from vegetables don't deplete calcium like animal proteins do. Anyway, I also think it is easy to be gluten-free and vegetarian or vegan. Just remember that doing so is not as much about...
  18. According to the articles I've read, the optimal amount of B12 is about 3mg per day. And studies also show that it is absorbed slowly. So therefore I take three 1mg lozenges per day, as many hours apart as I can. Just make sure it's methylcobalamin, as the others are simply not effective, or even dangerous (the common type is cyanocobalamin, which believe...
  19. I've never had cookies spread out at all. I'm guessing it's because I don't use sugar, which does melt. The Stevia I use is pure extract powder, so it only takes a tsp or less to replace a whole cup of sugar.
  20. Your child does sound Celiac to me. Please try the gluten-free diet no matter what the tests say, as they are terribly inaccurate, especially in young children. Also, thyroid disease is linked to Celiac, and most people who have Celiac aren't properly diagnosed. So I wouldn't rule that out either. Glad you found this site, and I hope your daughter gets...
  21. My first thought is CC, but you'd know better if and how that's a possibility. You might be correct about other foods causing problems though. But it does take more time to recover for some people. It seems to vary from days to years.
  22. Glad you put the "almost" in that sentence! But I'm not even close to that. I could care less about the diet, I just hate the absence of wellness. Eeewwww!! I'd NEVER take myself out on a date! LOL. Actually, the only reason it came to mind is that I heard he recently died. I've no idea when he last did a commercial, but I'd bet it's mentioned in articles...
  23. From what I've read, flax has certain binding properties, so I'd leave that in next time. As for bean flours tasting icky, I found that this is true for Bob's Red Mill. I believe it is due to the fact that they stone grind the beans. Apparently, the stone grinding method produces too much heat, damaging the oils in the beans. That basically means the flour...
  24. Well, like the title of your post says, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I know most people don't like to eat a large breakfast, but I do, and hot or cold cereals don't fit my idea of most healthy. However, if you're looking for breakfast cereals, here are a few ideas: Kasha (roasted buckwheat) Amaranth (like cream of rice or hominy grits...
  25. Oh, now that's hilarious! I can't stop laughing! OK, doubling over...I need air!! So maybe that's how to find the perpetrator - an undercover cop poses as a TP dealer. And pushes only the "good stuff". What would Mr. Whipple have to say?
