ARCHIVED A warning about probiotics
cashs mom replied to AAtroposP71's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I guess that's okay if you aren't milk sensitive as so many of us are. I seem to have a lot of sensitivities to different supplements. I've had good luck with gluten-free Culturelle. Its the only probiotic I've found that I could tolerate. I am feeling better since I've been taking it for a few months. -

ARCHIVED Gluten free and Vegan? (WHO scary research?!)
cashs mom replied to KathleenH's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks. That's what I thought knowing WHO's leanings. Its always hard to determine how accurate a study is as the data can be skewed to prove the point you want it to prove. -

ARCHIVED Gluten free and Vegan? (WHO scary research?!)
cashs mom replied to KathleenH's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
One thing I noticed in your original post is that you said the report refers to "processed meats". If I'm not mistaken they are referring to things like lunch meat and canned meats. That's a lot different than buying meat from the meat market and cooking it yourself. Or am I wrong? I also second taking care with a vegan diet. My friend's son went... -

ARCHIVED Is it worth getting tested?
cashs mom replied to Tbetteridge's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I went gluten free a year ago to see if it helped with some of the issues I'd been having. It did help with some, not so much with others. But overall, I think I'm doing much better without gluten. It's a personal decision but I've decided not to go back on gluten to have the blood tests done. There is no cure or treatment other than what I am doing now... -

ARCHIVED Food and Supplement Sensitivities
cashs mom replied to cashs mom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I take only certified gluten free supplements. And at 63, no doctor is going to prescribe HRT nor am I going to take it. Hot flashes, to me, are a secondary problem and not worth the cancer risks that are present with HRT's. I have gone to a chiropractor for almost 20 years now. He's also a certified nutritionist as are many chiropractors. He... -

ARCHIVED Food and Supplement Sensitivities
cashs mom replied to cashs mom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Some of the ones he had me taking were not gluten free and I discontinued those last May. I have been checking everything since then to make sure it is gluten free but still have sensitivities. I had bloodwork done at my yearly exam, but it was basic and didn't show anything. My chiropractor has been very good about working with me and helping me out... -
	Thanks. I'll look into him.

ARCHIVED Celiac.com: Don't Be Going Gluten-Free
cashs mom replied to Scott Adams's topic in Publications & Publicity
I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion -
I've been looking for a new doctor for my gluten sensitivity and other problems. I'm not altogether happy with the one I visited last week. I have another appt in a couple weeks and the blood test results will be in so I'm kind of waiting to see what he says. So far he's kind of at 2 strikes so I'm not optomistic. Does anyone know a a good naturopath...

I'm certain that I have a gluten sensitivity. I've been gluten free since May 2015. For a few months I was doing really well. My sleep was great and all was good. I had gone to a nutritionist for a number of years. At first he really helped me but then something went off the rails and he was having me take a ton of supplements and I started having reactions...

I'm going to have the doc check for thyroid problems as my mother had them at about the age I am now (63). I'm really hoping to get some help or a referral to someone who can help me. Wish me luck!

I don't do caffeine after morning. I'm not sure about magnesium oil, I have so many sensitivities and magnesium capsules are one of them. Likewise epsom salts. I do drink Sleepytime, Tulsi Sleep or camomile tea and I diffuse lavendar oil and put it on my pillow which hasnt' done much. Frankincense seems to be better. I've also done guided imagery and...

I haven't tried tryptophan. I had a bad reaction to melatonin and it kept me awake so I haven't tried anything else. I'm going to see what the internist says tomorrow and go from there. But I may try it. Thanks for the suggestion! I"m no longer going to the nutritionist since I believe he's the one that caused a lot of this problem and when I tried...

I've been gluten free since May, 2015. I slept very well until my adrenal supplements ran out (I was on a ton of supplements per my holistic nutritionist until I started having sensitivities to everything. Then weaned myself off all but a few). When I tried to start taking the adrenal supplement again, I had developed a sensitivity and couldn't take it...

ARCHIVED Craft at DS's school... Am I overracting?
cashs mom replied to Ginkgo100's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I understand. But teachers/administrators have a ton of kids to keep track of. No matter what anyone thinks, sometimes things are going to happen. I'm just glad this kid is so smart and his mother has taught him really well.- 17 replies

ARCHIVED Craft at DS's school... Am I overracting?
cashs mom replied to Ginkgo100's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I think its more important that this great kid knows enough to be able to say no to temptation than to put all the responsibility on the school who has hundreds of kids to monitor at all times. That's a lot to put on them, too.- 17 replies

ARCHIVED Craft at DS's school... Am I overracting?
cashs mom replied to Ginkgo100's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
But Mayasmum, the world doesn't revolve around him. I know he's very young, but he did exceptionally well and he does need to look after himself. Unless he is going to be supervised every minute of every day, there will be temptations. It sounds like he's doing really well and learning to take care of himself which is an awesome thing to be able to do...- 17 replies

I haven't tried any of the recipes yet, but cooking.com has some gluten free recipes that look good. All you have to do is put gluten free in the search box and they come up.

This is a very interesting thread for me. I have also gone gluten free on the advice of my chiropractor after going to 3 doctors and taking more and more stuff and getting worse. With me my main symptom is sleeplessness and feeling like I'm tired but wired all the time. I do feel better since going gluten free but I'm struggling as to what I can and can...
