ARCHIVED Preschool Owner With Celiac Child
Guhlia replied to strawberrygm's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You did everything you could. Some people are just impossible to make happy. Please don't let this discourage you in any way from being involved in your childrens' health. You are a dream to most parents with kids with allergies/Celiac. Please don't let this bad experience get in your way. As far as I'm concerned you're a saint. And you know, I agree with... -
I know, I know... I was just really hoping to get to go to Universal Studios and eat at Hard Rock Cafe once Tori's old enough to appreciate it. I guess that idea's shot though.

My sentiments exactly...

ARCHIVED American Idol Fans?

Mango, he kind of looks like a cancer patient or something that came back from the dead... Maybe that's it? He kind of creeps me out too, but I also see his star appeal. He has a good sense of humor and a decent voice as well. Plus, he's in the marines and that always helps voting on American Idol. -

I just wanted to add that if the mother makes you feel uncomfortable about asking questions, while that is totally unacceptable, you can always feel free to ask us those questions. If it's gluten related someone here will likely know the answer and we will probably be able to get back to you within a matter of hours. We're always open to helping someone learn... -
I had the same problem in the beginning of my pregnancy. It went away around 14 weeks I think. I didn't lose as much weight as you did though I don't think. I ate applesauce mostly. That was one of the few things that wouldn't make me gag. For dinner I was able to choke down baked chicken and green vegetables. Try eating very small portions every hour...

I think the CeliacChicks website is down right now. I couldn't get on either.

Try Mission corn tortillas. They say gluten free right on the bag. They come in huge bags for very cheap. They keep for about two weeks in the fridge, sometimes a little longer. I buy mine at Wal-mart.

You aren't by any chance located in Pennsylvania, are you? We're looking for a preschool for my daughter right now and having a heck of a time because she doesn't have an official diagnosis. -

Drop me a PM with your e-mail address. I will forward you Disney's list of gluten free foods for the parks. It will make your trip so much easier. I have gluten free lists for MGM and Magic Kingdom as well as a general listing for all parks. -

Likely her reaction will last anywhere from a few hours to a few days, possibly even a week or two. However, many times there is no visible reaction, but damage is still being done to the intestines. Worst case scenario is that a glutening or multiple glutenings could cause permanent damage, but I think the chances of that are relatively slim, especially... -

We managed to do Disney without a kitchen in our hotel room. We didn't even have a microwave. I kept applesauce, pudding, pretzels, fruit, and water in the hotel room for snacking and quick breakfasts. You could also do milk and cereal. If you can, stay at a Disney Resort with a restaurant, they can cook gluten free meals. I didn't get glutened once while... -

Most off brand play-doh has gluten in it as well. It's not just the play-doh brand. There's only one, I believe, that's gluten free and it's hard to find. Perhaps someone will know the name of it. Yes, most things could have gluten in them, but worrying about everything just isn't practical, especially if her mother isn't getting involved with things... -
There are some brands of juice that aren't gluten free. Perhaps one of those brands was used in the fruit cup? Or perhaps the fruit was cut on a cutting board right after a sandwich was made? It could have just as easily been the Amy's meal though.

Play-doh is made from wheat (gluten). It has a warning right on the canisters. That could be why your Celiac child is getting randomly glutened. We all know how little ones manage to get things into their mouths. Paints can also be made from wheat. I know there are some that are safe, but I don't know which ones. Glue is also another gluten problem. I have... -

If you haven't seen the show yet, don't read this... Wow, so I was half right. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad Antonella's gone. I really didn't think we'd be able to get rid of her so quickly, but I'm soooo glad we did. I'm sad to see Sundance go, but I think he may actually be able to make it on his own. He's a great singer, poor song choice sometimes, but... -

ARCHIVED Preschool Owner With Celiac Child
Guhlia replied to strawberrygm's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Welcome to the forum! Wow, if only more preschool owners were more like you... I would suggest you ask the mother of the Celiac child to bring in one plate per day plus snacks. This will keep it easier and neater for you. Just a couple of quick suggestions to keep this child safe... Are tables cleaned thoroughly before eating? Is any play-doh used in... -

Yeah, that was very funny. My husband about fell of the couch when she sang that about why did she scat. -
Try allrecipes.com. Many of the recipes are naturally gluten free and those that aren't can easily be converted. I'm sure that many of them are also casein free as well or easily converted to be so. That's where I usually get my dinner ideas when I'm in a rut. I like the site because all of the recipes are user rated so I know ahead of time which ones other...

Antonella definitely has to go, but I think votefortheworst.com will be able to keep her on for a few more weeks. They were responsible for keeping Kevin Colveis on and John (the red head). Both of those boys made it pretty far considering their talent level. I hope that somehow Antonella gets voted off, I can't stand her, but I think we'll probably have... -
