  1. Yes celiac can affect you before the pain. Many people have damaged intestines without intestinal symptoms
  2. My nephew was diagnosed with celiac when my sister took him to the doctor because he was always complaining he couldn't breath and was out of breath. Blood tests and biopsy confirmed celiac.
  3. It depends how soon you could get her in for a biopsy. I know someone recently with a six year old that had positive blood work for celiac- this girl had levels in the 200 range and after two blood tests with the same resullts, the doctor said there was no need for the biopsy and she just went gluten free. Personally I would get it done if I could get...
  4. I get a fever too if I've been glutened.
  5. I found out a couple months ago that I have celiac and also that my thyroid antibodies (TPO) were high. I was on a low dose of synthroid as well when I went gluten free. Two weeks after going gluten free, I started getting chest pains. I went to emergency at my local hospital to be told my heart seemed fine and it was probably a muscle issue. Same answer...
  6. Glad to hear you're feeling better going dairy free. It's something I should be doing as well and I agree it seems easier to go gluten free than dairy free. I don't drink milk but don't know what to do without butter, whipped cream, sour cream and cream cheese. I'm not doing well six or more weeks gluten free- so dairy is the next step for me.
  7. Sorry you haven't been well-.its not fun feeling like this. I have some of the water retention problems too. I also have lots of problems with pain in neck and shoulders- plus tingling nerve issues down my arms. It's my ulnar nerve rather than carpel tunnel. I think it's related to celiac- the tingling can be a vitamin B deficiency as well. Our symptoms...
  8. This past year- I've had a lot of anger/irritability issues. I'm so relieved at how stable my moods are since going gluten free.
  9. Gall bladder issues can be very related to celiac., I'm in a tough stage right now too- just found out I have celiac about six weeks ago. Please do make sure you don't have to eat gluten again for a biopsy. I got way sicker from gluten when I accidentally had some a month into the diet. For me right now one of the biggest frustrations is cross contamination...
  10. I had "gallbladder" pain for years. Every time I had tests done to check for gall stones or gall bladder function they were fine. Finally found out I have celiac. I believe pain in the gallbladder area often is undiagnosed celiac. i know of someone who had their gallbladder removed- still had the pain and then found out he had Celiac. A gluten free diet...
  11. Also- make sure your thyroid levels are good before pregnancy. My thyroid antibodies are sky high and most likely linked to having undiagnosed celiac for so long. Thyroid disease and celiac are very connected.
  12. I wouldn't risk doing the gluten challenge. I just found out a little over a month ago that I have celiac- I did get the blood work and the biopsy, but only because they were done within a short amount of time. My worst symptoms were awful bloating and indigestion after eating, extreme exhaustion, sore everywhere- felt like I had the flu for 9 months straight...
  13. I am deficient in IGA- thankfully the lab that processed my lab work- also did the IgG blood work. This was positive as well as the biopsy.
