  1. You should read the book' Jennifer's Way" you might find her story similar. You will find better health- but be patient- it's an up and down road and takes a long time! For me it's been 7-8 months and I'm not well but slowly improving I hope
  2. Sorry if my advice about cutting out gluten right away was bad advice- I am new to my celiac diagnose and never thought of something maybe going wrong and you needing tests redone. I just want you to feel better asap. Take care and let us know!
  3. That makes sense. So glad you had the testing done! You didn't get any info after the endoscopy? I was told right after that it looked like celiac and to start the diet. I didn't have weight loss- but not everyone does. It can't hurt at all now for you to go gluten free. You wouldn't have to wait for results to see if it makes a difference. At least...
  4. Hopefully this article doesn't encourage celiacs to try this... It just makes me more confused?
  5. Too bad your endoscopy was done already- unless they did do biopsies for celiac? Many many people with celiac do not have the cramps and stomach pain- I didn't, until after being diagnosed and then gluten free for a while. Now gluten causes much worse symptoms for me. It would be very worth while to get the celiac blood work done- don't cut out gluten...
  6. The biopsy is a great idea- plus you only need to eat gluten for two weeks for that I think. Couldnt you have gotten a biopsy of your skin to check for DH? That would be enough for a celiac diagnose. People do test negative on blood work sometimes and then have a positive biopsy
  7. I'm guessing maybe it's the quinoa. I got really sick from it a couple months ago- even though I had small amounts of it in the past without problems. Now I avoid it like the plague. I can relate to what you're saying- I also have times where I get really ill and it would be easier just to track it to gluten and not go crazy trying to figure out what other...
  8. I had the same gallbladder pain for years! It has mostly gone away now. I've been gluten free for seven months. I was diagnosed 7 months ago and couldn't possibly do a challenge now if I needed to after being gluten free this long. I can't handle gluten free oats at all. I was glutened almost three weeks ago and I'm still sick from that. The gallbladder...
  9. Yup- I have the same reaction to quinoa
  10. I can't eat oats at all- react the same as if I was glutened
  11. Would you consider the gluten free diet anyways? - you could have a sensitivity to gluten even if a biopsy was negative.
  12. You might be pleasantly surprised. Once your son goes gluten free- he may also have an appetite and be hungry all the time. Hope he gets well quickly!
  13. Hope you find better health now!
  14. I hear you... It is hard some days.
  15. Good for you for doing your research and making the best decision you can in your circumstances. Keeping your job is important too- hopefully going gluten free now will make a big difference in how you feel. Get well!
  16. Bone thinning is a symptom of celiac disease- I'd highly recommend reading a few books about celiac disease. I've learned a lot from that. There's a chance you are accidentally ingesting gluten and that's making you sick- or you're still healing. I just talked to someone yesterday who said it took 14 months off gluten before her husband felt well. You could...
  17. Any chance you can be put on a cancelation list at the doctors? Sometimes it does help to call and explain your situation and maybe they can fit you in sooner. Other than that I don't know what to advise because I was n a similar situation and I'm not sure if I would have waited that long. I'm just grateful that I got in to see the specialist within a couple...
  18. Yes, I honestly think I have received better medical care because of an official diagnose. This may depend some on where a person lives. I live in Canada and waits to see specialists are incredibly long. It seems like because of my celiac diagnose- I've gotten in a lot sooner than most people....plus I am taken seriously. In Canada you don't just choose to...
  19. I never use cooking sprays anymore- I just brush oil in my pans or use paper towel dipped in oil to grease things.
  20. That's interesting about the b12. I was concerned about my level because it was over 900- but not by much. I thought it very odd, since I never take any b12 supplements and had been very ill the whole year before the blood test. My folate levels were a little high too- yet I'm low in calcium, iron and vitamin D.
  21. A gluten challenge only needs to be two weeks for a biopsy? I thought it was more like 3 months
  22. I'm very thankful I had my biopsy- I've had to see quite a few doctors/specialists since my diagnose and 99% of them don't believe I have celiac until I tell them I had the blood work AND the biopsy. It makes it so much easier to be taken seriously.
  23. My dad had the burping problem and it was his gall bladder causing the problem.
  24. Getting retested sounds like a great idea- yes celiac can lower bone density. You should get check for some deficiencies too- calcium, iron, vitamin D and B12 for sure.
