ARCHIVED Question About Raw Honey
Irene Joanne replied to julirama723's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I react to honey- not because of gluten, but because of the high salicylates in honey -
ARCHIVED Puking bile when glutened
Irene Joanne replied to KaylaK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If I was in your shoes and knew gluten made me so sick- there's no way I'd eat gluten for a few months for an accurate diagnose.- 8 replies

ARCHIVED Thyroid lab result question
Irene Joanne replied to Stacy0w's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have within range thyroid blood work- yet my thyroid antibodies were really high.... And I definitely have lots of symptoms. I'm scheduled to see a thyroid specialist next week to talk about the high TPO levels. Exciting thing they're starting to go down since going gluten free. -
ARCHIVED Recovery Time, Non-Gluten Grains and Alcohol
Irene Joanne replied to JustinSB81's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
All the people I've talked to personally with celiac were told to avoid oats for the first six months after being diagnosed for sure. 3 months in- gluten free oats still make me really sick -
ARCHIVED Help with Severe C Difficile related Chronic Diarrhea and Food Malabsorption
Irene Joanne replied to 91e970d0's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Could this be a Salicylate sensitivity or allergy? That's something I'm dealing with now and most fruits are high in this. -
ARCHIVED celiac and anxiety?
Irene Joanne replied to 1398-Days's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I can relate. I've had quite a bit of anxiety the last years. Since going gluten free it got a lot better in some ways. I did, and still do sometimes have quite a bit anxiety when it comes to food. Every time I ate something and felt a little off, I right away assumed it was gluten and felt even worse because of the anxiety. Plus my anxiety about eating out... -
ARCHIVED to biopsy or not?
Irene Joanne replied to The Five I's's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Get the biopsy- it's so much easier to stick to the diet when you know for sure. -
ARCHIVED accidentally glutened.. how to recover?
Irene Joanne replied to 1398-Days's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
How about trying to eat some protein? I was sick for four- five days after eating oatmeal and noticed a dramatic improvement after eating steak the fourth day. -
ARCHIVED Husband and daughter with possible Celiac
Irene Joanne replied to goldenweave's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
How long before the testing is complete? My family has noticed how much more stable my moods have been since going gluten free- huge difference. I had so many anger issues the last year and that's completely gone. Maybe if your husband realizes celiac can do this- he will be less likely to take that anger out on you and your daughter. What about anxiety medication... -

ARCHIVED Salicylate sensitivity- or food allergy- does it go away??
Irene Joanne posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
3 months ago I was diagnosed with celiac. It's been an up and down few months- I've had a couple accidental glutenings that made me really sick. On top of this all, I'm starting to have other allergic reactions. I've always been sensitive to perfumes and chemical smells- this is definitely getting worse. I'm even starting to have allergic reactions... -
So sorry you're struggling. Did you ever have the blood work done to check for celiac? I have celiac and Hashimoto's too and since going gluten free my thyroid antibodies are going down. Honestly I'd go gluten free just because of the thyroid problem. I'm finding out that more than celiac is going on with me. I'm reacting to foods high in salicylates...

ARCHIVED Anyone Else Feel A "lump" In Their Stomach?
Irene Joanne replied to CHINUP's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had this when I was eating gluten and still now sometimes when I eat something that triggers a reaction- like oatmeal for example. It's just inflammation I think that makes it feel like there's a lump in my stomach -
ARCHIVED SO HUNGRY. All. The. Time.
Irene Joanne replied to heyitsmissa's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I feel like this two months into the diet- dietician told me I need more grains in my diet. It's hard when I don't like gluten free bread much and I can't eat oatmeal -
ARCHIVED Hi my name is Andrew and I've been an addict for...
Irene Joanne replied to Brown-Coat-Andrew's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Get tested for sure! After for so many years having doctors treat me like everything was just in my head- it's such a relief to have an official diagnose. If I hadn't gotten tested- and went gluten free anyways, I would always wonder if it was just in my head and I'd be a lot more likely to cheat. You'd have to be eating gluten again though? -
I used to take the true hope vitamins too- are they gluten free? They did work well for me- but b vitamins in any form seem to give me really bad anxiety.

It's not impossible to swing back and forth from hypo to hyper when it comes to auntoimmune thyroid disease

I know you said you had thyroid blood work done, but did you get your thyroid antibodies checked? I've spent the last year feeling like you- so sore everywhere. I just found out in November I have celiac, but I also had high TPO (thyroid antibodies) levels, although my other thyroid blood work was still within range. I wonder if high thyroid antibodies can...
