  1. Hello, how long did it take to get back up? I quit the pepcid and started iron but the ferritin dropped from 74 in December, to 49 in March and 33 a couple of weeks ago.
  2. Thank you. You have responded before and I found it helpful. No, my doctor did not advise me to take iron. My level went from 74 to 49 in a short time. They had not done a hemoglobin. In fact, the only reason they checked the ferritin was I requested it. I had read that there are optimal levels (60-100) and for some, if it drops below 50, symptoms can set...
  3. Thanks. I will check it out.
  4. Thank you. Yes, my squished diaphragm theory is looking less likely. I will start examining other foods as a possible culprit.
  5. I am new to this. Biopsy negative after 6 week gluten challenge, mildly elevated DGP IGA, DQ2 gene, sibling with biopsy positive celiac. I told the GI doc stuff did not start to get really weird until 10 days before the biopsy. It got much much worse the 2 months after. Anyway, I had a whole bunch of wacky stuff happen toward the end of my gluten challenge...
  6. We have had had a change in seasons. I am really thinking it may be a squished diaphragm from bloating. Because when I stretch out and lay on my back it does not happen.
  7. Okay I know I have seen this post in the past but it's been a while. Does anyone remember getting a shortness of breath? I am 6 weeks gluten free except for a couple of mess ups and find it recently hard to take a deep breath. I can still breathe and I have mild asthma but nothing big, I can even still jog on the treadmill. However I find myself yawning and...
  8. Yes, I know. I am new to this. It was my boyfriend's juice, not something I buy. In a million years I would not have expected the damn juice.
  9. No. The irony, and I laughed at myself, is that the whey protein mix was fine. I checked the packaging more then once. When I started to feel funny I then checked the probiotic juice (go figure, I put it in my smoothie for the gut healing effects) and THAT had barley malt in it. Juice out of all things...yummy stuff. Called Good Belly. But watch out...
  10. Yes. My glucose test was normal. I did however, 4 hours later, ask my boss about FMLA (as a joke) because I look pregnant. Any suggestions on how to get the bloat down? Or what to eat to make it not bloat more?
  11. I just stopped eating gluten about 6 weeks ago and I'm still having some odd symptoms. One being that I have difficulty taking deep breaths although my oxygen level is fine. I believe this has to do with my system being backed up from the change in diet. so this morning I decide to go on a liquid diet for a couple of days and made myself a juice smoothie...
  12. Huh. I never thought of that connection. I had mine out at 17. Well, regardless, as my brother told me, it takes total destruction of your gut to get the "celiac" label. But before the disease progresses to that it has to start somewhere. I know, it sucks though. You are trying to figure out why you feel so awful and it would be nice to have some...
  13. "He told me I could eat gluten again and go back to a normal diet the week before he did the colonoscopy/endoscopy procedure, which I did for about 4 days until I got so sick" Although the suggestion is at least 2 weeks for a biopsy and about 12 weeks for bloodwork there is no guarantee 2 weeks is going to destroy the villi enough to show up on biopsy...
  14. To be clear, you said you had positive bloodwork 3 years ago? How long were you gluten-free then on gluten before the biopsy? Do you know what bloodwork was run? Did you have the genetic tests done?
  15. "I was fine and then I wasn't". Yup! I agree with cycling lady. Go get it checked. It may not go up after a few glutenings but have the old glidian tests done too. I never did. I guess they are not reliable for diagnosis but good at measuring adherence to the diet. I read a bunch of articles on vagus nerve and celiac disease. I never had issues...
  16. Huh, I had not thought of the burning. During my gluten challenge I had spells of burning pain in my mid section above the belly button. It felt like it was going through to my back. I paced the floor some nights. Took hot showers. One day it radiated to my teeth. I thought it was my heart for a bit. I took tums hoping it was some kind of hyped up heart burn...
  17. Thank you. I had no idea about dairy and enzymes.
  18. I too have odd unexplained pain out of the blue. ENT thinks ear/neck is TMJ and cardio thinks back may be hitting the pavement/treadmill for the first time in 20 years 6 months ago. Who freaking knows.... But....you were hiking/climbing etc 2 months ago. Pinched or irritated nerves can cause radiating pain. See a chiropractor. Perhaps also get pancreatic...
  19. Yes, he took 6 or 8, I forget. I will say that going gluten-free has stopped my 4 trips to the bathroom in an hour most mornings. I have the opposite issue now. Though it always floats now and I read that could be malabsorption. It had never occurred to me that was connected until I started eating gluten again after going gluten-free the first time...
  20. And thank you for the other comments. Thyroid checked and good thankfully. And I am very much looking forward to seeing the integrative doc next month who is associated with a university hospital in my area! The scary stuff has been ruled out. So I may just quit all the damn meds, stay on vitamins, and probiotics and wait to see if I feel better...
  21. Thank you. I did start Iron and b12 last week thinking the ferririn was taken a month ago and could be lower now. Not a huge dose, just what would be in a prenatal vitamin. I was also thinking of canning the pepcid as I am pretty sure the shortness of breath is not silent reflux and I do not actually suffer from heartburn. I may just scale back first...
  22. You should be on gluten for 3 months for bloodwork. It sounds like Celiac or a gluten sensitivity if your previous blood work was positive. Did you get the genetic test? You do not have to be eating gluten for the gene test. you could have the gene in the family and no one has developed it but perhaps you have.
  23. I guess this is a rant. And a simple: anyone else have this s$#&? Ok, so I was gluten light for roughly 2 years, not really knowing what gluten was. I guess just carb light. My brother was dx with celiac by biopsy only about 2 years ago (blood work negative). So last April I had my bloodwork done by my PCP and only the DGP IGA was mildly elevated...
  24. While I am dealing with making changes to my diet, I am trying to cut stuff that may be making things worse. I love my coffee but thought I should temporarily give it up. Any suggestions other then tea for my morning caffeine?
  25. Let me know how this goes. I am seeing one next month too.
