ARCHIVED Folic Acid Intolerance?!?!?
ironictruth replied to ThisIsMyUserName's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Have you done SIBO testing? My endo told me that bad bacteria in the gut will cause higher folic acid levels. Of course, in my case i was supplementing with a b complex which could also have been the cause. But high levels can cause gastro symptoms and even a zinc deficiency. Get them checked and see where your levels are at. Awesome username... -
ARCHIVED Low alkaline phosphatase in 12 year old celiac
ironictruth replied to inver's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh she was diagnosed with villous atrophy? Yes, i would suggest DGP test ASAP. Cycling lady mentioned hers was elevated after a glutening so my new GI ran mine 2 weeks ago and bingo! I have no clue what did it but am new at this. At least then you will know if something is sneaking in. Gallbladder too, had that one. Painful. Was the pancreas looked... -

Open Original Shared Link Read where it says it replaces an older test with a similar name. If it was not run, ask for it. -
ARCHIVED Low alkaline phosphatase in 12 year old celiac
ironictruth replied to inver's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What tests were run? Myself and others only test positive to DGP which is around 9 years old. My old GI doc does not use that test in his celiac panel. My new one does! -
ARCHIVED certified gluten-free products and salad dressing
ironictruth posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am trying to limit processed foods but have a few things I am still using. I think I am still getting glutened as the skipping heart beats, faint feeling, nausea and numbness are still occurring. Probably a trace amount adding up. My celiac sibling is very very sensitive and only dabbles in processed foods so I am thinking this may be my issue. I was... -
ARCHIVED I think Dr. is Wrong- Advice Please!
ironictruth replied to brooke12's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ditto here. DGP was my only positive as well. That and DQ2 gene. Did you get gene tested? Ugh, do NOT screw around with a GI doc who does not seem like s/he understands celiac. Get one you feel confident with. I suffered 9 months and counting of ill health and no answers after a gluten challenge with a GI who was not supportive or knowledgeable (he... -
ARCHIVED anyone get edema? and how to nudge others to understand
ironictruth replied to ironictruth's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My mother is visiting from out of town and we are both amazed at your advice. You always have something great to say but this one I am printing out and stashing for those times when I am discouraged! Very positive motivating advice. Thank you! -
ARCHIVED anyone get edema? and how to nudge others to understand
ironictruth posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Every day since this last glutening (the eye opening holy s$#& that was a glutening experience, confirmed by DGP antibody) I hope to get closer to getting rid of tingling, numbness, gasping for breath (anemia from in hospital resolved) , nausea, stomach pain, dizziness, heart skipping beats, swollen painful thyroid, muscle twitches, anxiety, weird rash on... -
ARCHIVED normail b12 increased folate
ironictruth posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I feel like freaking s#%*. Dizzy, numbness, feeling like passing out, head pressure, eyes stinging, heart skipping beats. I am convinced there is some kind of bacteria invading my gut and moving its way up to my brain taking my adrenal gland and thyroid for a ride with it. Alas, I am H. Pylori negative and have SIBO testing later this month. My... -
ARCHIVED No idea what to do next
ironictruth replied to kam00096's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Please get your cortisol levels checked and mention the symptoms, positive celiac test, and hyperpigmentation to a primary doc and ask to see the endocrinologist. Or do anything you can to get into a doc who will take you seriously. Is it difficult where you are to see an Endo? A LOT of your symptoms are similar to mine. My stomach pain and nausea increased... -
ARCHIVED my username issue and tender tummy and real healing time
ironictruth posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ok...first order of business, so, I am a little flaky. Maybe a lot. When I joined months ago, I forgot my username or password so created a new account. I must have logged out of the 2nd one the other day and tapped into some place in my brain which enabled me to log into the first account. And now my stories are all disjointed. I will write the info down... -
ARCHIVED rash, does not look like DH and eye stinging/pain

I will follow up. I am seriously thinking it may be a new food allergy reaction. -
ARCHIVED rash, does not look like DH and eye stinging/pain
ironictruth posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So recently, I have noticed a red rash come and go on my upper stomach where the pain is. It looks nothing like DH images I have seen. It is flat, blotchy and bright red. I started to notice it when I first woke up and thought it was just an imprint from a blanket. But I noticed it last night after eating and again tonight after eating, no blanket... -
ARCHIVED Not feeling better yet
ironictruth replied to mathieml's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had crazy trouble with popcorn before I went gluten-free the first time and have avoided it since. Nausea for me kicked in about 6 weeks ago. My endo put me on zinc to help and I was also given zofran but it makes me dizzy. I agree with the above folks, can going out to eat, stick to non-processed foods and if you have to get processed use certified... -
ARCHIVED how quickly do nutrients drop
ironictruth replied to ironictruth's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You guys are good. So my DGP IGA was weak positive before all of this. We tested it in July and it was 15. Normal is under 20. My celiac sibling is one of the few who is sero negative but biopsy positive, gene positive, and extremely sensitive. So we never held my breath that any serum levels would be positive. I did not see anything in my labs from... -

Has anyone had labs done after being glutened? I had weak positive bloodwork DGP IGA last year and a negative biopsy after a 6 week gluten challenge. Had been gluten-free for 8 mos. I have been gluten-free again since March with some cc. Had 3 episodes of bad D since July. One tanked my potassium, magnesium and alkaline phosphatase. They all returned... -

Get a thyroid ultrasound if you can. All my levels were normal too but my thyroid appears like Hashimoto's. I was only tested for one of the antibodies which was negative. I read quite a bit online that it is common for folks to have normal blood levels with Autoimmune for awhile. We are hoping mine is a self limiting thyroiditis (pain started in Feb) and... -
ARCHIVED Have any of you got anxiety problems as well?

Good luck to you too! Maybe cymbalta, it is for anxiety, depression and neuropathic pain. But, comes with its own risks. -
ARCHIVED Have any of you got anxiety problems as well?
ironictruth replied to Zachm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I never had any major anxiety issues, other then some over-thinking nail biting stuff. But since my health went down hill I have been horribly anxious. Can you pinpoint any thought process that makes you this way? For me, it is a combo of symptoms (pain, dizziness, nausea, skipped heart beats, pain behind the eyes) and thinking the worst, cancer, that... -
ARCHIVED for those waiting for a positive biopsy and a questions about adrenal issues
ironictruth replied to ironictruth's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, I am stressed to the max. I just spent 3 days in the hospital with D and stomach pain, dizziness, chest pain, generally unwell. Then another trip to the ER on top of that. My protein was low and my RBC and hemoglobin dropped below normal in 3 days. Not terribly low, but below normal. I also had metabolic acidosis which still confuses me. I usually eat... -
ARCHIVED Morning Anxiety Driving Me Crazy!!!
ironictruth replied to m47kx's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Mornings and early afternoon are usually the worst for me. I also get hit about 4pm. I am guessing, who knows, that this may be adrenal in nature since demands for cortisol are higher in the morning and drop off in the afternoon. I know my cortisol was a little low a few weeks back. I find if I can stand it, I find that eating a little protein... -
ARCHIVED Negative blood test...feeling lost
ironictruth replied to Celifack's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Get your thyroid checked out in a thorough manner. It can cause really wacky stuff. And lots of folks with thyroid issues are gluten-free. My brother had negative celiac bloodwork and a positive biopsy. My thyroid ultrasound presents like Hashimoto's but my serum levels are fine and I have normal thyroid antibodies. My neck hurts like hell though. ... -
ARCHIVED where is your pain?
ironictruth replied to ironictruth's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My gallbladder was removed as well. They did an endoscopic ultrasound recently and said everything was normal, the bile duct is enlarged but that it was probably from when it had the stone (19 years ago). They also said no gastritis but I am starting to wonder...not sure if an EUS would see that. My endo treated me with antibiotics in case it was bacteria... -
ARCHIVED where is your pain?
ironictruth replied to ironictruth's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Good ones guys! Pepto, pepcid, tylenol, hot shower, it is finally calming. I was considering ER but have paid too many visits already. I had an infected bile duct once and can say this pain was not as bad, but pretty darn close. -
Mine feels like my pancreas wants to explode (normal ultrasound and enzymes) Mid upper GI. Hurts to touch. Pepto and pepcid is not touching it.
