  1. Well on day 6 of gluten-free and the insomnia is worse. Hoping it subsides.
  2. Hello and welcome. Firstly, so glad your doctor was in the know about testing you for Celiac. That makes a big difference! It can definitely be overwhelming, but you'll get in a groove. There are a lot of foods that are naturally gluten free, and you'll learn the decent gluten free options for the occasional carbish desire [ie, gluten free breads and such...
  3. Yes he said it was poor digestion. I see him agin the 2nd week of May.
  4. I'm in my 1st week of being gluten free. So far lots of changes, not sure if they are for the better yet, but feeling hopeful. The Good: My DH has decreased significantly already, my gut isn't hurting like it was. The Not-So-Good: Gluten withdrawl isn't pleasant, horrible insomnia, constipation. Overall feeling optimistic though. Not only...
  5. best wishes to you on this journey
  6. Thank you
  7. Hello I am recovered from an eating disorder for 10 years now, so I did want to say congrats on your recovery! I think getting tested for Celiac is up to you, and I say that because of medical coverage. With that said, if going gluten free helped you in the past, it certainly cannot hurt to do so again. I know gluten-free helps with a plethora of issues...
  8. Thank you for your reply. I have been at a loss, and am glad to hear it goes away
  9. So for about 6 months I've had this thick white-ish coating on my tongue. Both my doctor and dentist said it is not thrush. My integrative medicine doctor said it's evidence of poor digestion. Has anyone experienced this? If so, did it go away being gluten free?
  10. I'm actually not sure if integrative medicine and functional medicine are the same.
  11. Hello, and thank you for your kind reply. I have definitely found that doctors are not familiar with celiac. I had one doctor several years back tell me "Your celiac panel is positive based on the results, but I'm not really sure what that means, it's really very uncommon." I Got referred to a GI who was also of no help, hence began a neat 10 year on and...
  12. I have gastroparisis, or go through phases of it [have had the testing for it.] I think its related to both celiac and my diabetes.
  13. Quite true. Thank you
  14. Thank you. I actually have to avoid carbs pretty much because I'm diabetic. I appreciate your reply
  15. Thank you for the support and info. I really appreciate it. We are going grocery shopping on Friday
  16. I've had chronic insomnia since I was a teenager. I am now almost 36 years old. I've been on every medication known to man to try and treat my chronic insomnia, and they always inevitably stop working. Will my chronic insomnia improve being gluten free? (I'm on day #1 of being gluten-free.) -Jessica
  17. I have been gluten free once before (for about a year or so.) This time, however, it's for good. I'm on day #1 of being gluten free, and to be honest I'm hungry, exhausted/drained/no energy. I do not remember why this happens though, how long this lasts, or any specific ways I got past this the last time with limited suffering (LOL!!!) ...
  18. Thank you
  19. Thanks, I'll make sure to call
  20. Thank you. I'm glad I found this forum!
  21. Thank you very much for your welcoming and very helpful response. I really appreciate it Today is my first day gluten free, and yes, I plan to stay that way! Thanks again!
  22. Hello. I understand not believing a GI. Several years ago I had a celiac panel done with my internal medicine doctor, it came back positive. I had an endoscopy with my GI which came back negative, giving me an inconclusive answer. I ended up being diagnosed with non hodgkin lymphoma of the duodenum (intestine) and was told gluten wasn't the culprit because...
  23. Hello everybody. So today is my 1st day gluten free. I have been gluten-free before, but after faulty direction from my old doctor [positive celiac panel, negative/inconclusive biopsy] I began eating gluten again. I saw a new doctor yesterday who reviewed all of my medical history and symptoms and agreed I need to be gluten-free. I'm feeling hopeful...
