I'm in the "can't use the word hate very well" camp, but here goes... I HATE having lost a lot of the spontineity in my life because of the focus on food, when food used to be one of the main reasons for it. Pretty much everything else is just an annoyance... long lines long ingredient labels hidden gluten dirty laundry gas...

You will also want to mention that everything prepared and cooked for you will need clean pans with clean utensils and that they cannot just remove croutons from a salad and call it gluten free. Do a google search for dining cards. There are lots out there that can help you with information for the manager. The Truimph cards are exceptionally thorough...

ARCHIVED Frustrated With celiac disease!IronedOut replied to l-lyn01's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease After I was diagnosed, my MIL worried herself sick about CC every time we came over. Finally, we agreed that I would just bring my own stuff and have a clean cabinet in her pantry. Now when we are there, she constantly asks me if I got what I'm eating out of the 'special place'. Well, duh! I know she means well but it's getting old.

ARCHIVED Food Without FearIronedOut replied to Claire's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I will find a reason to go to Michigan!

There are nutritionists out there that can be helpful. They are few and far between and take a good deal of reasearch to find though. I had the same experience as you when I went. I knew more than she did about Celiac and the eats and don't eats. Since I waited a while before going, I was able to provide a list of what I was eating. She helped me analyze...

ARCHIVED Breyer's YogurtIronedOut posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I wrote to Cool Brands Intl this morning to ask about gluten in their newly acquired subsidiary products, Breyer's Yogurt. This is the briefest message I have ever received from a company on this subject. Dear Customer, All of our Breyer's Yogurts are gluten free. Good answer!

ARCHIVED Newbie To Site - "veteran" To CeliacIronedOut replied to MallysMama's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff Welcome to the board. My diagnosis came as a result of my malabsorption issues. I found Celiac while looking for the source of my severe anemia. I was exhausted, physically and mentally, to the point of hospitalization. If I had not gotten help when I did, I could have died of oxygen-deprivation induced heart failure. I thought my tiredness came from...

	Amen to that.

I don't cheat because I don't have many external symptoms. For me, it would be way to easy to slip into old habits. I keep the images of my many grandkids in mind as my mental carrot (cupcake) . Of course, my kids are 10 and 13 so I have a way to go before I even get to see them the first time!!

ARCHIVED What If You Don't Go Gluten FreeIronedOut replied to jodikris's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Oats in any form are considered by most to be on the NO list. There is a lot of info/research out there that indicate it MAY be okay for some Celiacs. Oats in the US are considered too cross-contaminated for us at this point, although there are some places that are starting to guarantee pure oats. Search here for any number of threads on the subject. ...

Welcome to the board. I know there are people here with the same situation as yours and I'm sure they'll chime in soon. The food log is not hard. This is the first one from a google search that I just did that gives you a form to complete. There are tons more and a lot of electronic ones as well. Open Original Shared Link Going gluten free...

I have no coordination either. If it is a good instructor, they will go slow enough for you to get the hang of it before upping the pace. I am WAY out of shape and enjoying this immensly. Off to the Reformer now!!

I am a silent celiac. My biopsy showed massive amounts of damage. Unfortunately, I have no idea how long it took to get that way. Since I have no way of knowing when I've been glutened, I have to be as diligent as possible. For me, it's not worth the time and trouble to figure out how sensitive I am. I hope you can.

I have started Pilates and I LOVE it. Since I haven't had the energy to exercise in a long time, I have really shied away from stuff like aerobics(sp?). Brain fog and sore joints don't go along with the super fast pace in those classes. Pilates is non-impact so I don't hurt during, just feel the 'burn' after. The studio I go to is small with a max of...

ARCHIVED 2006 Celiac Walk In BaltimoreIronedOut replied to IronedOut's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff Lynne - I don't know what the route is like but here is the link to the site. I'm sure if you called them, someone would be able to find out. Turtle - I'm going so you can count on one face in the crowd. Should we try and get a team together or just join as individuals and plan to meet up there? Any interested parties can PM me for...

ARCHIVED 2006 Celiac Walk In BaltimoreIronedOut replied to IronedOut's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff Good for you. I wouldn't have had the energy to do this a year ago. My sister is a heart transplant survivor and we did the 1 mile Heart Association fun walk last year together. It was enough for both of us. But I think we're both ready for lots more now.
