  1. Good for you! I got the same insulting answer from them today when I had sent in a question. I am so glad that you responded as you did. I sent them a scathing letter as well. I wish I had a list of P&G products so I would know not to buy any of them, ever! Their response if ridiculous at best. I hope others will write in and get them to see how...
  2. Just called and got the gluten-free "okay" from Garnier Fructis Style products. I asked specifically about the shampoo for "normal" hair, the spray gel, and the putty (weird name for hair stuff, I guess - it seemed comperable to the salon paste I was using). All of that was safe. I haven't used any of it yet, so I hope it will be good. Keep you posted...
  3. Good luck with Procter and Gamble! Check out my Bounty post! Grrrrrrrr!
  4. Their website is www.pg.com I then followed the cues to look at Bounty and went to the "contact us" area. It looks like the e-mail address is pg@custhelp.com If that doesn't work, try the "contact us" area of their site instead. This really made me mad! I am glad to see the rest of you are as flabbergasted as I was! It has been an angry day...
  5. I was already angry about my run-in with the Bounty paper towel people, now I am un-glued!!!!!!! I have given my celiac children those fries because the list I printed said it was okay!!!! Anyone else ready to rake these people over the coals!? (Deep cleansing breaths!)
  6. In response to my email yesterday about the safety of Bounty paper towels (which we use a lot!), I was given a reply stating I would need MY DOCTOR TO WRITE THEM A LETTER before they could let me know about this!!!! I have printed here there response to my letter: "Thanks for contacting us, Laura. As someone who suffers from allergies, I...
  7. I thought the ingredients in the Oral B kids toothpaste (characters on the tude - Pooh, Mickey, etc.) were safe. But when I called to confirm (we were double checking some items), they said it is not safe for celiacs because they cannot confirm ingredients from their suppliers! I thought this might be helpful. I did not realize this! Apparantly you need...
  8. Can he pack extra underwear and pants in his bag discreetly? If you put them in a ziplock bag and push all the air out before sealing (a gallon size bag), it makes it small and easy to pack. Then he has a bag to store the soiled clothes to take home as well. Also a pull-up in the backpack (kiss of death if discovered!) is good for runny days without much...
  9. Hefty brand paper products called today to confirm that their zoopals and foam plates are safe as is the rest of their line. I am still waiting to hear from Solo brand. Thought I would share. We are still checking on Bounty paper towels.
  10. I do not know much at all about autism and asberger's. I was becoming very alarmed by my own child's behaviour and vomitting episodes before he was diagnosed. He has celiac. His behaviour was crazy, even for a toddler, before diagnosis. Now, when he gets gluten, he changes. He becomes withdrawn, aggressive, he won't make eye contact with me, he arches...
  11. Namaste foods makes dairy/gluten free mixes (they are also free of other common allergens). We make the chocolate cake mix as cupcakes and sprinkle with powdered sugar (if desired, they are plenty yummy without). There is also a vanilla cake mix. (We just prefer the choc.) We buy little plastic cupcake toppers from craft stores that sell cake decorating...
  12. Keep in mind that Disney has cruises. They also have such fabulous resorts that my parents go just for the R&R, park attendance optional. It really isn't just for the kids. They also have a resort in Hilton Head on the beach. Just a thought. We had such an amazing experience with them and our children's health issues, it is hard to imagine doing...

    ARCHIVED Disneyland

I posted my Disney experience in the eating out forum. I was new and hadn't seen this one yet! Check it out for ideas. Disney is AWESOME! Our vacation was truly a dream come true! We are wanting to go back as soon as we can! They are so celiac/food allergy friendly! Why can't other places take this approach! I am so excited for those of you who are...
  14. Chrissy, WOW! That is a backpack full! I hope it helped some to unload a bit. I know that when I can sound-off I feel a lot better! Sometimes life just . . . well, it is just HARD! Tonight my sweet little boy had some sort of reaction to some fruit (strawberries? or cross contamination?!). He threw up EVERYWHERE! And this on a night that I had planned...
  15. We pack lunches for our outing day each week. My kids love ham roll-ups (it is just the ham, no tortilla), yoplait yogurt smoothies, cheese cubes or slices, and fruit. We use gluten-free crackers sometimes. I make them "trail mix" with gluten-free pretzels, cereals, raisins, etc. We sometimes take homemade muffins. If we get stuck out we will stop for...
  16. My son nursed and is still nursing (lightly) and he is two and a half. Check out the post on this at the babies/children forum. Nursing helped my son SO MUCH! He couldn't keep anything down except breastmilk!
  17. Congratulations on all of the weddings! This isn't exactly the same thing, but. . . We do very elaborate birthdays when our children turn six- sort of a leaving preschool-hood behind kind of thing! Last year my son had already been diagnosed when I started planning my daughters' party, so I knew we would need to go at least partially gluten-free. I decorate...
  18. It is so nice to come here for support. It can feel like noone gets it and understands how hard it can all be! Kingschild, it sounds like you have your hands full!! Keep it up! You are doing a great job. It is so difficult for everyone in the family to have so many needs! Lots of good encouragement here, though. Today was our anniversary. The two...
  19. We take our own toothpaste for the cleaning, as my dentist suggested. Then I get manufactoring info. and call. I carry medical files and safe lists with me.
  20. My son has been gluten-free for over a year. My husband and daughter only for a few weeks. My son had been doing great, but in the past few months he has had reoccuring runny tummy (off and on). We did have gluten in the house (under very careful conditions), but we sanitized the entire house and eliminated any gluten at all a few weeks age. My husband...
  21. My son is celiac (confirmed with endoscopy and DNA and blood test). My husband has severe IBS, mild colitis, and possible gluten intolerance. My daughter has also been having issues with gluten. My question is: If they still have difficulties, even 100% strict gluten-free, where do you start looking for what else is going on? How do you know if casein...
  22. Do I understand correctly that you said your daughter was having leg pain? We have been mystified by my daughters health for several months now. She has complained unceasingly of "growing pains" in her joints. Behind her knees is bad, her neck hurts, her arms, etc. Then she started saying her stomach hurt all the time. It go so bad that she was laying...
  23. What is the deal with vanilla flavoring and pure vanilla extract? I have been buying vanilla that is specifically marked "gluten-free Vanilla". But a lot of products that say they do not contain gluten list vanilla as an ingredient. Is vanilla okay? Is flavoring no, but pure extract yes? I am confused.
  24. OMG! I can't believe they are behaving that way! My family did not understand at first and they are still learning, but that is just CRAZY! I don't know if it would help, but my G-ma, in particular, just didn't get it and was contaminating my son like crazy at first. I typed up a one page information sheet on celiac and his general care. Then I gave each...
  25. I love hearing other people's nursing stories! Sounds like you did an awesome job with yours! Mine suprised me this morning by asking to nurse. He hasn't been asking lately. I said, "Are you sure? I could get you a drink in a cup if you like." He leaned his head up on me and said, (in his adorable two year old voice), "Mama, I NEED to nurse." So he...
