ARCHIVED Costochondritis Back Again
bluejeangirl replied to kayavara's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was diagnoised with this about 17 yrs. ago when I went to the doctor with pains in my chest. The doctor knew it wasn't heart related for some reason. He asked if I'd been coughing alot lately and I had. He told me what it was and I mentioned I was also doing bench presses with a barbell. Both those things caused irritation along the breastbone. I... -
ARCHIVED Weight And Celiac Disease
bluejeangirl replied to LilRed's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You will lose weight eating vegetables, proteins, and small amounts of fruit. I feel better eating this way but have to eat avocadoes, nut butters and lara bars just to keep the weight on since I don't want to lose. Your really not missing much by not eating the breads that are gluten free. They usually have to be toasted to taste good. I still think... -
ARCHIVED Gerd Developed After Going Gluten Free
bluejeangirl replied to dth's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Another thought is the wheat breads were soaking up the acids before. Have you ever noticed if you dropped bread in water it will almost double in size as it soaks up moisture? Also if you had been eating bread with some whole grain in it you'd be missing the fiber which helps to move things out. I remember we were told to eat soda crackers to releave... -
ARCHIVED Those Of You Who Are Carb Intolerant --
bluejeangirl replied to BRUMI1968's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Bully, My first thought was candida. The sugars in sweet potatoes are pretty high. I love to make sweet potato oven fries but I never feel good the next day after eating them. I'll get spacey and crabby. Gail -
ARCHIVED Joint Pain Due To Celiac?
bluejeangirl replied to TardyTurtle's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I noticed also it helps to drink lots of water, it keeps the cartilage healthier and plumper. Don't drink to much coffee or alcohol because they'll dehydrate you. Sugar and a hgh carb diet causes alot of inflammation. There are some good books on inflammation. I've read alot of them but its been a few years since and I can't remember a single title. ... -
My lymph nodes are swallon right now too. They seem to get that way when I'm run down. Also a change in seasons always takes it's toll on me. The way I'm feeling right now is if I don't rest and take it easy I'll end up getting a cold. So I'm planning on resting this weekend. When my kids were small and I go in for a doctors check up the doctor would...

ARCHIVED Grain-free Support Thread
bluejeangirl replied to emcmaster's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I was eating bananas, melons and lara bars as snacks. All these foods are high in potassium. I did the right thing in eating my fruit with yogurt or cottage cheese except with lara bars I ate alone but they do have nuts in them and I usally have them when I know supper is still two hours away but I'm hungry now sort of thing. I could tell my blood... -
ARCHIVED Grain-free Support Thread
bluejeangirl replied to emcmaster's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm still playing around with this grain free thing. I went about 7 days without grain. Just into about 2 days I lost the 2 to 3 lbs of water weight. I did'nt like that to much so I upped my fruit. Going into the 4th day or so I was pretty lethargic and felt drained. Didn't sleep the best. I felt it had to do with my poor functioning adrenals so I looked... -
ARCHIVED Grain-free Support Thread
bluejeangirl replied to emcmaster's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Again I just have to say I feel so much better eating this way its amazing. I just must be genetically predisposed this way. Grains just have a adverse effect on my gut. I read an interesting report on this also being the case for kids with autism and aspergers. They believe its just in their genes. The same way with celiacs and people with autoimmune... -

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Have Hypoglycemia Along With Their Celiac?
bluejeangirl replied to Run-4-Jesus's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Yes I've been this way since a teenager. I don't have time to read the reply's right now just wanted to say yes its a real problem for me and I do much better on a low carb, small frequent meal diet. Gail -
ARCHIVED The American Idol Thread...2008
bluejeangirl replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
David Cook is my favorite. He's voice and creativity is awesome. I think the girls have been beaten down by Simon so much they're letting that fear take away from their abilities to perform well. Brooke was shaking towards the end of her song last night. I think Simon does this on purpose. He has David Archuletta already in his mind to win and does his... -
ARCHIVED Products Better Than Gluten Ones?
bluejeangirl replied to Rpm999's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have to say Pamela's pancake mix is pretty darn good. If you go to Lame Advertisement and look it up it'll have the most reviews I've ever seen allll positive. Even people who are gluten eaters reviewed they like them. And homemade chocolate chip cookies made from my heartland performance flour blend. If I bring those to a gathering they will go faster... -
ARCHIVED Grain-free Support Thread
bluejeangirl replied to emcmaster's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
About three weeks ago I started getting knee pain and swelling in my right knee. I've had this before but not since I went gluten free. It wasn't going away and it was really hard getting up from a squat position. I decided to go paleo again to see if it would take it away before seeing a doctor. I've been four days no grain, sugar etc. only meats, veggies... -
ARCHIVED Diet For Celiac Patients
bluejeangirl replied to MDRB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
All you can do is try it and see how you feel. I found the best diet for me is eliminating all grains and legumes. In my reading they're very hard on the gut. There are a few like me that follow a Paleo type diet. I also avoid high oxalate foods or foods high in salicylates. Both foods in this catagory are alike. Everyone is different and nobody... -
ARCHIVED Tuna Fish
bluejeangirl replied to Wakeboarder's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was shopping in Target yesterday and noticed those foil packed tuna's. On the front it says tuna packed in water but it you read the ingredients its water and vegetable broth. Vegetable broth will probablly have MSG in it and that's why I can't have it. Does it have gluten, who knows, it could have. It could be like barely malt, it's there to enhance... -
I have a hard time with legumes. Just a hard time digesting them. I've read they're not all that great anyway, their nutrients don't get assimulated and they bind with minerals? (someone help me if this is wrong) So they actually take from you. With the casein, I have intolerance also but can have butter and alittle bit of whipped cream. So the fat...

Welcome back Ursa ..... I get worse symptoms then anyone in my family when I get the flu. It knocks me down pretty hard. I'm glad you were able to enjoy the choir music. It sounds like you really appreciate music which I find relaxing and a great stress reliever. Someday I hope to do what you've done and learn to play an instrument. Gail

ARCHIVED What Causes Abdominal Bloating?
bluejeangirl replied to nikki2008's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I read an article on IBS on why they get bloated. It seems if you have problems with a food and it sets off intestinal cramps and diahhrea, that movement (parastalic) is going to push that food out. If there isn't any food or waste to push then air/gas gets sucked up in there instead. So the air/gas will bloat you. So it can just be the contractions going... -
ARCHIVED New To This Board, Need Help
bluejeangirl replied to miche's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If I were you I would definetly stay off gluten. Those kind of symptoms are not fun. A two week trial is not long enough to determine if its working. A person your age won't see improvements for at least a year. If grain free is too hard include alittle rice. I've heard some fibro patients being helped by a low oxalate diet. I don't have time to explain... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free/df Protein Shake
bluejeangirl replied to Healthy Girl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Nutiva makes a great shake with Hemp protein that I love. You don't have to add anything because they're flavored. I bought the chocolate and the berry pomegranate that I haven't tried yet but the choc. is great. It's sweetened with evaporated cane juice however. The other mix I use is jarrow formulas brown rice protein. With this one you have to add... -
If your taking aspirin daily and using fruit in your smoothie it could be a salicylate sensitivity. I'd do a quick google/search on it just to make your ok with them. I've had kefir before and I agree its great because you can drink it. Gail

ARCHIVED La Crosse, Wi
bluejeangirl replied to Celiac-s-Son's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Festival Foods has gluten free foods in their natural food aisle and freezer. At least the one in Green bay does. They carry Kinnikinnick breads, donuts, and other baked goods in the freezer. Kinnikinnick also sells mixes. Bob Red mill has mixes that are gluten free and cake mixes from a couple places that are reliable. Gluten Free Pantry has great... -

ARCHIVED Tough Choice's Setting Kitchen Rules!
bluejeangirl replied to larry mac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I understand your reaction, we all have them. About a week ago I had a meltdown over cashew butter. I have an intolerance to peanut butter (amoung other things) I miss it but found out I can tolerate cashew butter which is one of my favorite treats on nut thins or rice cakes. Its expensive but worth it and the good thing, I don't have to worry about gluten...
