  1. Hey Everyone! I just have to share with you guys something I attended the other night. Our local Giant Food Store, in Camp Hill has just built a brand new store a few months back and added all kinds of new stuff including a big natural food section. They also had a cooking school built in the store. The other evening they offered a Gluten Free cooking class...
  2. The Giant I attended class at last night (which was an amazing class and had a huge turnout) is brand new and has a cooking school in it. I am not sure how many more stores actually have a cooking school. This giant has alot of new things, it is in Camp Hill PA. They are the same chain of stores though. I am still waiting on the Wegmans to start being built...
  3. Contains derivatives of wheat and dairy, but has been verified by the University of Nebraska to be allergen and gluten free. This was listed on their nutritonal info for their french fries...Is it just me or does that seem like a red flag. Derivative of wheat and Gluten free, something doesn't seem right there? Or am I way off. I just don't think I can...
  4. I am in Hershey, and I can tell you offhand I know two people with Celiac, one has DH and she used to work with me, she found out right after I did. The other woman I was introduced to in May, she had just recently found out she had celiac but she suffered almost 10 years without a diagnosis. She and I are attending a gluten-free cooking class at the Giant...
  5. Anyone can have celiac, it can show up in both overweight and underweight. In my case, I was of a normal weight and the reason I went underweight was like a previous poster mentioned, everything went right through me. Sounds silly but I was glad to gain back those pounds when I went gluten free. It made me look healthy again. I also got my energy back, I...
  6. Hi David I am from Harrisburg and I am not sure how far you travel through the area but there is a store in Linglestown that carries great bakery items, they are frozen but they taste great. they are made in NEPA by a husband who is a chef of 17 years and a wife who has celiac. The store in Linglestown is called Water to Go, and it is on Linglestown Rd...
  7. I am looking at doing the one in Scranton PA. I was born and raised up in that area so I am familiar with it. This will be the first year I will be doing the walk. It would be nice to meet some people who understand exactly what we are going through.
  8. Calling all my celiac buddies, help help help! My office is having a birthday lunch for one of our coworkers tomorrow they were originally going to Issacs and I had called Issacs and had inquired about their Honey Dijon chicken salad which I was told is gluten-free. After all that the woman changed her mind and they are now going to Applebees, which the only...
  9. For all of my celiac buddies in the Eastern PA area, if you have ever heard of Water to Go, it's a health store and it carries alot of gluten free items as well. Back in May, I was introduced to a woman who told me about the store in Linglestown. They have frozen bakery items, cakes, cookies, cupcakes, breads. It is all by a company called The Grainless Baker...
  10. I really enjoy the berry breakfast bars! They are soft which do not come by very often with gluten-free bars. I keep a box of them in my desk at work and everytime I want a snack I eat one. I also have the carmel apple but I haven't opened those yet.
  11. I eat Hershey kisses all the time with no problems. I tend to be a sensitive celiac too. Last time I checked they were on the gluten free list. Their statement is poorly worded but like an above poster said noting is ever 100% look at Amy's who is making "gluten free" meals. They have been known to have contaminated food. They are specializing in diet restricted...
  12. Another thing I noticed at Wegmans this weekend. I was checking their brand of cereals just to see the difference in ingreidents. Well their corn pops, or corn puffs as they called them listed NO WHEAT. I was excited and then I saw big signs posted all over their shelves, their manufacturing facility has switched ingreidents and now are using wheat. I guess...
  13. I know UTZ regular chips plus some of their flavored chips as well are gluten free. I eat them frequently and have no problems at all. The bag even says it is Gluten Free, I am not sure of whether or not it is a dedicated facility, I was excited to see their flavored products, BBQ, Sour Cream and Onion, Sour Cream and Cheddar, as Gluten Free. I was not always...
  14. Thanks Everyone! I don't know why I thought the MSG had gluten but in the beginng everything is overwhelming so you take in a lot of info at once. I must have got something mixed up.
  15. Does anyone have experience with the Helluva Good French Onion dip. It has MSG, but it only says Milk as an allergen on the container. I am not a sensitive celiac but I still don't take chances. Thanks Everyone
  16. JerseyAngel- I almost cried in the grocery store when I saw that. I found out I had Celiac Disease last September. I was never a big snacker before, but once I couldn't have it I craved it. I am really happy their company is going out of the way to make sure we can feel safe eating their product. I am hoping more brands start to label like that now.
  17. We too are getting a Wegmans soon and I can't wait. I grew up having one in Scranton and missed it when I moved away. So for the time being I just drive to that one to get stuff. They label their products well too and provide the list of their Gluten Free products. I appreciate what they do to help us.
  18. UTZ brand potato chips list on their snacks "This is a Gluten Free Food" I think that is wonderful. It also allows us to enjoy some flavors that we may have been missing, sour cream and onion, BBQ, or Sour Cream and cheddar.
