  1. I really do appreciate the offer to give blood again, but we should be able to cover it. I was planning to give, but you may have a point. We have 6 family members who have given for her before, though and are anxious to do so again. 3 have never given before and this gives them incentive! (Is that mean of me? ) As for getting a sitter for Tim, it...
  2. Finally got around to the update: Just a quick update to let all of you know that Megan is improving more all the time. She is tasting more foods all the time. She will take tiny bites of things, then spit them out, but that's a huge step! She expects to have food in her hand if any of us are eating and gets mad if she doesn't. She's tasting popsicles...
  3. My daughter almost died because of the gluten that passed through my breastmilk. The drs. told me it wouldn't pass through, but they were WRONG. I finally eliminated it on my own for a week and she improved dramatically. I reintroduced it and she got very ill again, so I eliminated it altogether. I also found after a few months gluten-free that I felt...
  4. Sorry guys - been out of town for a week taking the kids to see the inlaws. We're home now with piles of laundry and little time! Meg's doing great. More details later.
  5. I'm sorry for the positive diagnosis, but glad that you know now. I will be praying for you!
  6. I think eggs were harder too. Hope it's all clear!!!!!!
  7. Thanks, but blood is not needed for the cath. I will give to have some in reserve for her just in case, but normally none is needed. If she doesn't use it, someone will get it. You really are just so kind. I'm not sure how a visit might work the day of the cath unless you came by the hospital, but when we go back for her follow up it probably would. ...
  8. I hope you find answers soon. It took 3 weeks for the D to stop with my son, so don't give up on the diet too quickly. It takes some people months. The biopsy really isn't too bad, except that it is often for naught since it frequently gives false negatives. I will pray for you to find out what's going on soon.
  9. My teeth and gums are horrible, but not as bad as my kids. Both were born with major and minor enamel defects, some places were just holes straight to the root. I wasn't diagnosed while pregnant and think that contributed, plus they both have it. My son had dental surgery during the summer and got 7 caps and 4 filling. The rest were sealed. The dentist...
  10. I was thinking last night that I could finally change the name of this thread to Megan's Gagging IS Better!!!!! Happy Day! Praises!!! She's not over it yet, but she's making the progress we've all been praying for. THANK YOU!!!! Yes. It should require an overnight stay in the hospital. We will be going back sometime after that for a followup...
  11. From the pattern it does sound highly suspicious of cc as school. could you take her out for a couple weeks to see if she improves again? I had never been a big advocate of home schooling, but am seriously considering it now that my son has celiac. I just don't know how to keep the gluten out of his diet otherwise. We may give school a try and see if...
  12. My son was like this until going gluten-free. He's still not a huge eater, but more normal. He hasn't been eating the past couple weeks b/c of a nasty cold and he's losing weight, but hopefully he'll feel better soon. After about a month on the diet he said out of the blue ,"Mommy, my tummy doesn't hurt anymore." I think that's why he wouldn't eat.
  13. Finally got around to updating caring bridge: ************************************************************** Sorry that it's been a while since I updated, but Megan, Cole and I were sick with colds last week and did pretty good to just get by. The good news is that Megan handled the cold better than Cole or myself and had no complications. Yea!!!! Cole...
  14. I'll be praying for you both. My son has had 3 scopes and my daughter 1. I too was nervous, but they really aren't bad at all. We only had to leave them for the few minutes it took to do the scope and then was right back with them. It's pretty simple and will be over quickly. the worst part for my son was the IV, but that wasn't bad either. good luck...
  15. Pamela's Pancake and baking mix is very versatile. I make muffins and pancakes with it by the recipes on the side. Cause You're special is the best biscuit mix I've found. My son is very picky and I have a list of foods he likes. PM me if you want it.
  16. still praying for you guys!
  17. My son was very similar. After testing him for everything under the sun, 2 negative endoscipies and inconclusive blood work we did a diet trial and the results were amazing. I"m not telling you to not go through the tests, just remember that the tests are often wrong on kids under 5. I regret that it took me over 2 years to find that out. Whatever the...
  18. I'm praising God right now for ALL the good news. Please keep us posted. Is there anything we can do to help? The burden is heavy for all of you right now!
  19. I went gluten-free while nursing my celiac daughter and after a few months noticed that the joint pains I had been having my whole life were gone for the first time EVER!!!! If your son's joint pain hasn't improved, though, that might not be his issue. Are you gluten-free too? If so, did it improve your pain? Whatever's going on with you may lead to clues...
  20. Sorry, we're all sick with colds this week. Megan's first illness that isn't life threatening! She's making some progress. She's actually tasting things this week! No eating, but that is major. She's tasting without gagging most of the time too. The past couple days have been rought with the cold, but she seemed to feel some better tonight. Hope...
  21. AMEN!!!!! I'm a bargain shopper, always have been. I think we spend about the same because we no longer eat out hardly at all. I've found that buying the mixes in bulk is the way to go. Last month Amazon had a $10 coupon for every $50 spent. I went ahead and did 2 separate orders at a little over 50 each of gluten-free bread and cookie mixes and saved...
  22. I have a daughter with severe reflux. One good place for info is Open Original Shared Link This is also a great community of people. My daughter had the fundoplication done and it was a horrible experience for her. Chrissy and others have had good experiences, though. Just explore all your options if they bring this up as a possibility. My daughter...
  23. Welcome Melissa, I think you'll find this board is a wonderful resource. My sig line has a link to another thread where we talk about how to get started. You might find that helpful. I got tired of looking it up all the time and just put it there for reference! I also wanted to point out that my daughter's primary symptom for celiac was reflux....
  24. My sig line has a link to a discussion on how to get started that I began a while back. that might be useful to you. My son had 2 negative biopsies and inconclusive bloodwork before we just tried the diet. The change in him was amazing. You have to make your own choice about testing, but for us it was all for naught. The diet was all we needed as proof...
  25. The rtf alimuentum is gluten-free. Most formulas are. My daughter is on Neocate 1+. It's for very sensitive kids. You have to get a Rx to get it. You can look it up online if you want the specifics. Hope you figure out something soon! I breastfed and went on a gluten-free diet for 17 mos. with my daughter. She couldn't tolerate any of the formulas...
