  1. Ken, I have acid reflux for about 10 years now. I have taken just about every kind/type there is. I have found that they typically do cause D for me. I think it has something to do with getting the acid out of your system. I took prilosec/nexium for the majority of the time. We double checked withthem about the gluten and found they were gluten...
  2. Hi everone! My mom is doing very well and we expect her home tomorrow! On the topic of gluten......I made the cakes! I actually made them into little mini cupcakes, made buttercream frosting and topped each with a cherry. I did add the cherry yogurt, which was a nice touch! Anyway, we did have a house of girls and their mothers, and they ate the...

    ARCHIVED Update

Thanks to you all, for the prayers and warm thoughts and hugs! It's nice to come home and have so many nice messages. I wanted to leave an update about my Mom. Tonight she finally regulated, and her heart rate went normal. They are going to leave her in ICU for observation for at least tonight. It looks like we are out of any serious complications...
  4. To all of you that responded to my post "Why are people so mean", I have terrible news. My mom had a heart attack last night and is currently in ICU. Her heart rate has not stabilized as of 2am, when the ICU nurse made me leave. I know this is not gluten related, but since I had talked to all of you in great depth yesterday about my mom, I thought...
  5. Thanks everybody!!!! It's so nice to wake up this morning and have a bunch of posts to read, I like starting out positive!!! I feel 100% better this morning, I guess the gluten is out of my body! I'm going to be extra careful now! I can't wait to go get the cake mix!!!! I feel very inpowered about the whole party thing!!!! My brother likes cherries...
  6. You know, I am going to make the cake!!!! It's always been my job before.....I'll just continue!! Thanks alot! I'm so glad I've got such a good support net work now! -Lollie You sound just like my husband!!! I mean it in a good way. I know in the past when I have set better boundaries with my mom, we always get along better. I will get...
  7. I did make some bread and take it over right after I went gluten-free. I was trying to show her I could still have bread, because she seemed more upset then me about no more bagels. I have made some great brownies, but she's diabetic, so wouldn't try them. I am trying to surround myself with positive people. I just do not have a real circle of friends...
  8. My mom has seen me sick- especially about 10 years ago when I missed a semester of college. At that time she sent me to a GI and I was diagnosed with ulcers, gastritis, and burning of the esophagus. They put me on prilosec and said deal. My mom dealt well then, but she too has had ulcers as did my grandparents. So I think she just felt like it runs in...
  9. It is me with the great husband....believe me, if it were not for him.....I just don't know! I will try to do better not to talk to my mom as much. It is really hard because me and my mom are really close (usually) we are together alot. And just as a side bar....my dad passed away only 4 months ago. I have kind of taken the place as my mom's compainion...
  10. Thanks Laura, I must have been responding at the same time! I have not called her out on this....I'm kind of a wimp. I just try to leave, get off the phone, or whatever. My mom is not too easy to deal with, and if confronted, she is like a pit-bull. (I've seen her in action) I love my mom, but I'd rather not get into any kind of a confrontation with...
  11. I'm a mom, too! I know my mom just doesn't understand all this. I wish she did. I try not to call attention to myself, but my mom always asks. Then it's hard to divert the questions, and I want to talk to her because she is my mom. Honestly, at 32, you would think I would get over wanting my mom to make me all better. I guess she is over it. Anyway...
  12. Thinks for responding.. I will go check out that website right now!!!!! You can E-mail me, too. laurasturgellpottery@yahoo.com -Lollie
  13. I don't understand why people are so mean about this....not being able to eat gluten? It seems that some-how, me not being able to eat gluten is an attack on them. Specifically, my mom. I accidentally glutened myself last night.....and I felt awful last night and today. I talked to my mom this morning, and tried to explain what I think I ate that...
  14. Whole Foods is a grocery chain that specializes in orgainic or natural foods. I tend to think that they specialize in foods people would need if having sllergies. Like gluten-free mixes and food, non-egg, non-dairy, ect... They are really good!! -Lollie
  15. Thanks! I'm going to give it a try! I appreciate all of you responding! -lollie
  16. I've only been gluten-free for about a month and trying to find restraunts is getting to be a real challenge! -Lollie
  17. Monica, I sure can relate to the part about your family thinking your a freak! I was trying to talk to mom about all this, and she said I just was looking for more to worry about....she also said she would never go out to eat with me again, "It's just too weird." But on the lighter side, my husband is more then supportive!!!! I love the cake...
  18. i've had the same thing with regular meat...to the point I went vegitarian... then had my gall bladder removed... Now I only buy from whole foods or we have a place called Central Market, they both have totally organic "clean meat". My whole family likes the flavor better of all the meat, but especially the chicken! I like using the "clean" meat for my...

    ARCHIVED Communion

I'm interested in the sourdough bread idea. Hopefully they will decide we can have it and then the catholic and lutherens will decide, and then it will go back to being a decision between us and God!!!!! I know on the other thread, there was some thought on washing the gluten out of the wafer? Again interesting.... I'm sorry that the church is...
  20. $400 doesn't sound so bad, if I hadn't already spent $400+ to my doc to do testing....I don't know if he even knew what to look for! Thanks for getting back to me! I guess I'll look them up on the net and see about taking care of it....And I can stay gluten-free? -Lollie
  21. My nephew called me lollie when he was little and couldn't pronounce Laura, then it just stuck!!!! The spaghetti squash is one of my fav's! I hope you like it. And my kids 3 and 5 like it just as much as the real deal! Good Luck! -Lollie
  22. Will it tell you if your just intolerant-or is it just indicative of celiac. And is it expensive? I undersood that it is something you do your self? I guess I still have lots of questions! Lollie
  23. I accidentally, spelled Enterolab wrong.... my bad! -Lollie
  24. This might be old hat, but I have to say I love the spaghetti squash!!!!!! My diet before gluten-free was all pasta so the diet has been some what challenging! But I discovered the spaghetti squash and its texture is soooo good and its so easy to prepare.....I just love it! In case anyone is wondering, all I do is stick it with a knife, like you...
  25. I've read alot about tesing and entrolab keeps coming up.... I'm wondering if you have already gone gluten-free will the test still be accurate? I really don't want to go back on gluten, the diet has shown me there is a definant correlation and i'd rather not be sick again. But at the same time, a Dx would be helpful when I'm weak. I did get blood...
