  1. I just read this yesterday- I wonder if diet alone is enough to decide? I too have had a challenging time with dx- what with blood levels and a doc who doesn't care..... I was told to go gluten-free for a week or so until my GI visit....then go back on gluten for a day or two before the testing.... maybe that's why my test results are so baffeling...
  2. I agree that you are lucky to have a very informed doc. I have been told all of my tests are neg, but I know I feel better gluten-free. I have had illness for about 10 years, so if something works I'll try it. So far, so good for me. I, too, am very confused by what all the tests mean and what the levels should be. I hhave just gotten back my blood work...
  3. I know that I feel alot better, but i had know damage or lesions! I 've been gluten-free for a month also. I have a hard time getting up, but I figure it's because i have little kids! I have had glutten just a couple of times and laways by mistake-bad waitress. I felt so sick during, that when the pain left I felt really good- i think my mind focuses...
  4. i forgot to ask if anyone knew about the difference in symptoms for gluten intolerence versus celiac/ Again, Thanks! -lollie

    ARCHIVED Communion

Thanks everyone! I am protestant- I talked with our church leaders and I will bring the bread for communion from now on. Actually everyone was really interested in tasteing the home made bread. i am so sorry for those of you who are going through so much more. I didn't even think about communion from a catholic position. I know all about the wafers...
  6. i looked up blue cheese and found that it is grown on a special kind of bread. And it is on the forbidden list....I didn't have it before! Thanks all! I think I will just stay clear of chesse other than cheddar for a while! Lollie
  7. I finally got some of my numbers back on my blood work- but, I don't understand it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, since my numbers don't match up with the indicated levels I've found in my research! My doc is not very helpful at this point and now I'm feeling confused and a little scared that the problem really is just in my head. My history...
  8. To Bad that doesn't work! maybe if i had just known about all those cleansings, I could have saved my gall badder and prevented this celiac! See I knew it really was all my own fault! But at least it's not all in my head........ Lollie
  9. I love it! I plan on using this from now on! Finally a benifit that is easy to get used to!!!!!! I too am a stay at home mom, and I'm glad to have an excuse for the messy house I live in! Lollie
  10. Thanks! I'll try to find that article. I just know that the only thing I've done the same the past two days, was eat blue cheese. The first day I had alot and about 3 hours later I was sicker than I've been in the whole month since I went gluten-free. Then again ysterday I only had a little and again, very sick. So, I;m just not going to eat blue cheese...
  11. Thanks! I'll get right on it! I didn't even think about cheese being forbidden. This just gets harder and harder! 'Cuz I love cheese. I thought well I have the nut thins, alright, I can still have my favorite snack....NOPE By the way, I researched blue cheese and it turns out they grow the blue mold on a special....BREAD! Which makes since, but...
  12. okay- I've searched but didn't find what I was looking for....so I'm going to pose the queation for you guys! Does any one know if there are cheeses to avoid? I have been eating cheese lately and I'm not feeling at all well. I know brick cheese is supposed to be okay. But what about other cheeses? Especially blue cheese and brie. If they are not...
  13. I know that it is hard on the loved ones, too! My suggestion would be to think about how you would feel. Maybe, you could do like my husband does. He eats all the gluten-wheat stuff he can get his hands on when we're not together. That way he doesn't feel like he has celiac too. I know that it's been very hard on my family to see me sick, so finding...
  14. I love it! Good for you!!!!!! -Lollie
  15. I've noticed that I'm craving sugar, too. My thought was that since I no longer get the quick energy from the high carb. wheat stuff that my diet consisted of before, my body wanted it some way......so sugar! I'm not a doc or anything, but that's what made since to me. About the blood sugar....I'm going to have mine tested. My mom is diabetic, and...
  16. I had the same thing this weekend.....I had a function to attend, and when the rigatoni and ceasar salad was brought out (with garlic bread), everyone wanted to know why i wasn't eating. I just explained it over and over and over and waited patiently for my husband to bring my rice and vegies! (I didn't know there was going to be food) I'm thinking...
  17. Oh man, I am so with ya'll! I have a pot luck coming up this weekend, and all the ladies already asked if I would bring a pie I haven't even tried to come up with a pie crust yet! And I am so tired of eating only stuff I cook. I want to actually not have dishes to worry about! Luckily, I'm a stay at home mom/artist so I'm at home, but when...

    ARCHIVED Communion

Okay so I go to church today, it's the first time we've had communion since I went gluten free. I almost ate the bread, then I realized what I was thinking. Then I had to turn down communion, which i only do when I feel spiritually led to, and then began to cry. I had no idea how hard all of this was going to be. I've done well on my own, but in public...
  19. I'm still new to all this......but I have noticed that I get this weird muscle "twitch" in my abdomen. I t's almost like when your eye will twitch, but in my stomach. It doesn't hurt, it's just a bother. Thanks for the advice on the bars.....I will stay clear! Lollie
  20. Thanks! I was thinking maybe I was doing something wrong....It kind of took me by surprise when I weighed. I thought that if my body was able to absorb nutrients better, I would gain weight. But looking back at my previous diet, it was all high carb, high fat, low nutrient. So it makes since that a leaner, more protein diet would cause you to lose weight...
  21. Hi- Has anybody continued ro lose weight even after going gluten free? I'm actually losing faster then I was before. I'm a little scared because I don't need to lose any! -Lollie
  22. i can't help but add my comments... I too have been feeling better since going gluten free. I had all the same feelings of impending doom and actually dieing from being so sick for so long. But, yesterday I started feeling bad again. I was in horrible spirits all day and couldn't get on top of it for anything. When I woke up this morning I had a fever...
  23. I wish that the doctors could experience, just for a day or two, the pain and that feeling of craziness-then maybe they would be a little more human in the way they treat people! Has anyone seen a movie called The Doctor? It's about a surgeon who gets cancer, he is really flippant about people and what they are going through, but afterwards he veiws everyone...
  24. Well, I guess I just won't worry about it! Like I said I got no clue!!!! Thanks for the advice! Lollie
  25. I'm totally new here, but I must say it sure feels good to know that I'm not crazy. I have had serious GI problems for 10 years. I went to my regular physician who prescribed the regular acid reducers. I didn't get better so he had me go to the specialist. Who did an upper endoscope found I had lesions in my esophagus' ulcers, and gastritus. He did biopsys...
