  1. Thanks, it makes sense. I just hope that I didn't go too long to regain my "normal" brain function! I had been sick for about 10 years, and I was anorexic a large chunk of that time, but maybe now that I am able to eat and eat really healthy, nutrious foods, maybe my brain will get what it needs to "come back"! I say to my little girls all the time,...
  2. I typically have a glass of re wine with supper or at night. I agree with an earlier post that said after giving so much up..... It doesn't affect me adversly......so I figure a glass a night is supposed to be good for you anyway! Lollie
  3. Yeah, my entire family now eats only whole natural foods. No chemicals in my house!!!! And luckily, soy doesn't sit with me very well so we don't have that in the house any more either!!!! I hope I can keep my girls "girls" (rather than women), for as long as what should be natural! Lollie
  4. i use Tylenol sinus! especially at night! Lollie
  5. i wouldn't say I was mad......but......frustrated might be the better term for me! I keep trying to find the gluten-free alernitives that I can buy at the store. So more often I am getting frustrated! But I think I 'm getting better at the shopping thing!!!! And I know that I'm healthier and my family is too! Just a side bar for those of you with daughters...
  6. Does the brain function NEVER come back? I ask because I definately noticed a difference in my ability to deal with certain tasks or to get organized- both of which I used to be great at. I guess I had hoped that I would regain those skills once my body recouped! Lollie
  7. I think that my bill equals out! I started out with all the convinience foods, but now I just get Whole foods cookies, and their pizza crusts! I mixed my own flour, which seemed expensive at the beginning, but it mad such a large amount, I'm set for a while. But mostly, I know I am saving money on meds. I spent between 200-250 a month on meds before...

    ARCHIVED Help

I know how you feel!!!! I had digestive issues for a long time- they always said it was ulcers or gastritis, then Christmas 2004 they removed my gall bladder...... Needless to say, I still had issues and then my husband found out about celiac, I did all the testing, and the diet confirmed it! It is so much better now for me! I hope you have as easy a time...
  9. Good Luck! I quit prilosec 2 months ago.....you might have a bad week with over acid production but, once that is over, no problem....at least for me! Lollie
  10. I have found it easy to just stay home and eat stuff I know is safe. But, truly I find it boring! If I lived in NY I think I would eat out too! I saw somewhere that there is a pizza place that makes fresh gluten-free pizza in the city- maybe that would be an option sometimes! I guess the best thing to do is really know what you can eat! I would bet...
  11. Yes, you will get your life back! But, you have to committ to a completely gluten-free diet! In my house, I am the only one gluten-free. All meals and things that I cook are gluten-free. My whole family eats gluten-free at home, but we do have some gluten stuff in the house. It's prepackaged and for consumption of the Non-Celiacs. I know that they have...

    ARCHIVED Panera's

i'm not sure about inhaleing, say aroma's, but it makes complete sense that if you inhaled the dust, it would be in your system, so you would react. I would think. But I also think there is a real danger of cross contamination from a bakery- the ideas about the box, cashier.....I think are all real dangers! I loved Panera's in my former life, so...

    ARCHIVED Success!

Hi all!!!!!! I just wanted to share some good news about this past weekend! I had posted that I had concerns about going out of town this past weekend- eating out, feeling bad, ect..... Well I took everyone's advice. I packed a bunch of Lara bars, my favorite crackers, stocked up on Whole Foods cookies, and had the hotel put a refrigerator in the...
  15. Thanks Judy! You too! I haven't read it but I will now! I love books about the sea! We're off- Lollie
  16. Thanks everyone! I think I might try the Rivatalx. Was it a prescription, or can I buy it over the counter? Judy, Yeah, I'm still going, I won't be held back by this crumby disease! And besides I always feel better once I get to my beloved ocean! Thanks again! Lollie
  17. Hey every one! I have a question about poop......only here would I feel comfortable about talking about that! Okay, so here goes. I have C for like 3 or 4 days, then I'll start going, which is a relief. But then I go and go and can't stop. Lot's of bulk and truly, I can't believe that much could be in me in the first place! Then I go again to the...
  18. I'm glad that you are looking at this the way you are. Having had to go through this with my mom....I know that it has worked for me. As long as I only go positive with her everything is fine! In fact we get along pretty well, but if I go for support, forget it. Sorry you don't have her for support, but you do have us and your fiance'.....right? Is he...
  19. Dani, Sorry you are having such a hard time with your mom. I really understand, I was there a couple a weeks ago.... But that's another thread! I hope she will come around. I think my mom doubts because she is worried about me. I know she is always cooncerned that I won't get enough to eat or that my lack of eating will make me sicker. When I...
  20. I just wanted to add my own interpretation: I believe that all of this is symbolic, I know that isn't particularly Catholic..... I think that what the importance of communion is the REMEMBERENCE part, not the bread or the wine. The importance of the day Ash wednesday, is the rememberence of what the ashes represent. The importance of the fast is that...
  21. Thanks! I'm feeling better about it now! I haven't traveled well in years, and now that I know why, I'm looking forward to actually enjoying the trip, rather then being sick the whole time. Isn't it funny how before when I was sick I always turned to wheat-like bagels, or crackers or pasta. My whole diet was gluten, and we never could figure out why I...
  22. I have had this type of discussion already! Search for communion. I think you might find the past lines interesting and helpful. Your right that you can't take the wafer. It is most definantly wheat- depending on how your parish does it, you might be able to take the wine only....if they do not dip the wafers. But, on the bright side, you can get...
  23. Thanks! This is the first time I've been out of my new comfort zone-but I want to enjoy the trip! I will definantly just pack my own food. I wil look into the restaurants, it's a big city so I'm sure there will be something. One question....we'll be on the coast, so if I order broiled seafood-that should be okay, right? Thanks again! Lollie
  24. Hi all! I wanted to see if any of you have helpful tips for when you have to travel. Me and my family have a weekend trip coming up, and although I am looking forward to it, I am a little apprehensive. I have been gluten-free for about 2 months and haven't been glutened in about 2 weeks, and feel really good. So, I'm scared about going somewhere...
  25. I definantly feel queezy when I've been glutened. And although I have NO appetite at that time, I try to put something in there. And I drink a ton of water. In my mind, I figure it's better to add something to my poor stomache, then to just let the gluten do it's thing. I guess, it helps to push the gluten on out. I know that the water also helps ...
