Lollie replied to jen3175's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi! Welcome! I was sick for a long time before going gluten-free. I still do bland food. It's been about 3 months for me so far. I know that the accidental gluten will hold you back in your healing. I know everyone on here will tell you it just takes time. I think it takes about a year to really be in a good healing status, depending on how damaged... -

Awww ChelsE! I'm so sorry about your grandfather. I can totally relate. When my dad was diagnosed with cancer, he was so active and alert. Then he had the surgery, he slipped a little, but regained. He went through radiation/chemo and didn't miss a step. But I was afraid for him on the second round of chemo....He never really recovered from the chemo...

ARCHIVED Emotional Reaction From Gluten? Do You Get This?
Lollie replied to tiffjake's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Tiffany-YES!!!!!!! I absolutely have an emotional reaction to gluten. I posted at the beginning of the week about the depression. I think it is deffinantly a chemical reaction to the gluten for me. I get very irritable, impatient, depressed, ect..... Alot of people recommended trying B-complex to counter the effect of the gluten. I went right out... -
Welcome to the board! Being scared to eat out is a common and real concern. If he is still relatively new to all this it is completely understandable. Cross-Contamination is a major concern when eating out. You have to be very careful what you order, what restaraunt your in, ect.... I still am not completely comfortable with it. But like an earlier...

When I bought mine yesterday, I was really careful to get one that was allergen free. But I also wanted to get a supplement that was an easily digestible as well. The girl at the store said this was a new generation of vitamins, and with the probiotics that really help with the absorption. I don't know. But I took it today too! And I am already feeling...

Thank You!!!!!!!! I went to Whole Foods and searched the vitamin isle. I was a little hesitant because, I never take anything. I didn't even take vitamins when I was pregnant. ARCHIVED If You Are A Vegetarian.... Why?
Lollie replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I tried that! She, for a little while, said she would only eat mean animals. So I tried to convince her that fish was really all just sharks and shrimp were bugs. But, she really likes bugs! She's out in the garden all the time collecting doodle bugs, so she just related them together. I just decided that I would let it play out. I will let her eat... -
ARCHIVED If You Are A Vegetarian.... Why?
Lollie replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Well, I love her! I wouldn't make her do anything that makes her feel that emotionally sad. She loves shrimp, her favorite thing in the world. Well she had said she wasn't going to eat meat like the day before I had planned to cook these really pretty gulf shrimp. Well I went ahead and cooked them.....She grabbed one and ate it. About mid bite she realized... -

ARCHIVED If You Are A Vegetarian.... Why?
Lollie replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I forgot to mention yesterday, that my five year old has recently decided to become vegitarian. My husband looked at me and I just looked surprised. She broke into a full out sob over having to eat an animal. She doesn't want to hurt any other living thing. I told her she didn't have to eat any meat, but she had to eat eggs and dairy and beans. All of... -
I never turn out my brownies to a cooling rack. I leave them in the pan and let tem cool. Lot's of times the brownie will have a "mushy" consistency. If you didn't test the batch with the knife, it's always a good idea to test that way on any baked goods! My oven is always slower thaen any recipe I have so I usually time for the amount of time the recipe...

ARCHIVED What To Eat When Your Tummy Hurts?
Lollie replied to skinnyminny's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've noticed that I feel that way from time to time. I think it is worse when i eat less or not at all. Although it hurts when I eat. It seems to get better when i can get back to a regular diet. Have you decreased your intake of food? Just a thought. Do you take anything like pepcid? Sometimes I just make way too much acid. I hope you feel better... -
Just a thought: I always stop eating when I get sick like this. So if I'm not eating, I had gluten, then could I be having such an intense reaction because of the lack of vitamins and the gluten? I hadn't really ever thought of that. I will try to get some vitamins. The B vitamins seems to be a common link. Thank you "Jersey Angel" - It does help...

Thanks ChelsE! I know it will pass! I just don't like it much! I really think it has to be some kind of chemical reaction for me. It is to personality altering.... I'm going to try and find some research on it.....My doc is an idiot so I know I have to do all the leg work myself! Lollie

I posted a similar thread this morning! Sorry, I should have just come here! I feel exactly the same way every time I get gluten. I don't know why I fell depressed and anxious with gluten, but I do for a couple of days after the physical symptoms pass. Drink alot of water. It helps flush your system. I know it passes! Feel better! Lollie
