  1. I just thought I would add what I just did for pie crust!!!!! It was very successful and I am very happy with it! It's the Bette Hagman recipe for Dream pastry flour: 2 cups tapioca flour 2 cups cornstarch 1 cup potatoe starch 4 cups sweet white rice flour 4 rounded teaspoons zanthum gum 2 teaspoons salt 2 teaspoons sugar Pastry: 2 1/4 cups...

  3. Just wanted to say hi to everybody! I have been really busy and I just haven't been online here much! But I wanted to say that I sure have missed everybody and I hope ya'll are all well! Lollie
  4. I just roasted some last night! I went on line also and found alot of recipes, but decided on a plain one. It just called for butter or olive oil, about 1.5 tablespoons, and salt. You just toss the seeds in the butter and salt and then roast at 300 degrees for about 30-45 minutes! I thought they were great1 I liked that I didn't have to throw them away...
  5. I did that too! How long have you been gluten-free? I have been for 10 months, but at the beginning, maybe the first 4 months, I couldn't stop eating at all, and I guessed the same thing. Then it leveled out for a while then bam! Back again. But this time I have gained some weight, which isn't bad, for me. I needed to gain some, but I don't want it...
  6. Glad to hear you are going to call! And that you feel better! I had a similar experience just this past August. We live in TX and had to travel to OH to visit my husbands family and gradma's. I took alot of things that I thought I wouldn't be able to find, and then shopped for fresh veggies and fruit when I got there. No body cared! I took over about...
  7. It's so weird how used to not eating I had been. Then when I went gluten-free I started trying to eat regularly. Then yesterday, do be starving and continously eating.....it is just so.....Normal! I have started the day out better today. Now lets see if I can keep the cookies to minimum!!!!! Thanks for all the advice! I went and got some nuts...
  8. Thanks everybody. I think that maybe it's eating because I am bored, or whatever. I have never done that before, but maybe because I am healed up better now, I actually will have to think about it. When before, I didn't, because I was always sick. I don't really know. I will try harder tomorrow, start out better. With a protein, instead of surgary cereal...

    ARCHIVED Mini Cures

I drink lots and lots of sparkling mineral water. I also do the plain rice thing for a little while. I sometimes have to resort to a muscle relaxer. Just depends on how bad it gets! Lollie
  10. Yeah, I do have a hard time keeping my diet balanced. I do have a hard time breaking down proteins. I tend to get mostly dairy for proteins. I do eat a large range of veggies and fruit. I eat rice and eggs. I don't know. I guess maybe today I started out going down the wrong path.....But, those molasses cookies are just so good!!!! I guess I will try...
  11. I sometimes still feel so sick, but then other times I just can't stop eating. I feel like I'm just so hungry. Does any one know what this is all about? Been gluten-free for 10 months, rarely get glutened anymore, tend to have a very regular, daily diet. But, some days, like today, I just cannot stop eating. I guess it's snacking. I will get a gluten...
  12. I just have two, but I had them both with mid-wives totally natural. It was a wonderful experience and I hope that one day I can be a dula or a mid-wife, and be able to help other women have the wonderful type of experience I had. My first was a long labor on the hottest day of the year in TX. The air conditioning broke and I pushed for a good 3 hours...
  13. I find that when I eat dried spices of any kind, I get sick.... I stick to fresh, especially garlic. I just like it better now. I agree with the everybody else....probably the dog food! I hope you are able to resolve this! But definantly, your not crazy!!!!! Lollie
  14. Hi Judy, I got your e-mail. I just haven't felt very well. I am sure there wasn't any stones, they did a scan to make sure prior to the surgery, plus it's been so long, I am thinking that it would have given me trouble before now. I was able to finally go to the bathroom, today. I am thinking it has something to do with the liver... Which of course the...
  15. Well, I think what doesn't make sense is that I had my gall bladder out 2 years ago! It's not indegstion, I had lived with that for years. I've been gluten free for 9 months. It seems like it might be my intestines, knowing that they also are wrapped up in that area. I don't know. I had to sleep with the heating pad. My bowels have been a little backed...
  16. I am not feeling sick....Just pain. I had an MRI before surgery and there were no gallstones. Just gravel. How long does it take to properly heal? Does celiac hinder that healing? Lollie
  17. I've got a question.... I have this horrible pain in my side that comes and goes. I'm not sick and I haven't had gluten. I am just curious if others get this same kind of thing. It's almost like my intestine has a kink in it or something. I guess I just wanted to see if others have any trouble with this, don't want to feel alone.... It's on my right...
  18. I can so relate! I have had people accuse me of anerexia because I am afraid to eat out or at social functions where I don't know if the food is safe....I hate not being able to eat my own kids birthday cake, and have all the mom's whispering under their breath that's how I stay thin....I just don't eat! And one more thing, if I had a dollar for everytime...
  19. Thank you for this info. My little girl has had a psoriasis problem behind her ear for well over a year now. If we ever forget to medicate it, she just gets eaten alive with the "scales". And it starts to crack and bleed and spread. I have wondered if she might have celiac, for a number of reasons,(since I have celiac and I know there is a genetic connection...
  20. It could be. To be totally honest, they have signs saying that they can't garuntee that there are not any allergins in the bulk area. I have eaten stuff out of the bins for the past 8 months with no ill affects, but maybe I have just been lucky! Lollie
  21. Thanks, I will. I looked all kinds of Almond-Toffee recipes and I didn't see any mention of gluten. The toffee I ate was a bulk store brand from Cental Market. I will give them a try tomorrow! Lollie
  22. I am not feeling well, and the only thing I might have eaten that could have done it is chocolate covers almond toffee. I didn't even think about it and I sure am hoping that this is just stress. Any thoughts, or knowledge is greatly appreciated! Lollie
  23. Hi all! I wanted to through in my experience! I have been gluten free since January, about 8 months.... I have had mostly ups. I had the same kind of thing with the nausea, and still do sometimes. But for me, i feel like the up times are far more often then the bad times. I found out at about the one month stage that I couldn't eat soy..... Sometimes...
  24. i live in TX, so the whole first frost thing eludes me!!!!! But what about doing something with pumpkins and gourds. Then change it to ever greens and frosted fruits for christmas time? Just a thought! Lollie
  25. Thanks everyone! I had bought a package of spelt bread, toasted it, and made a grilled cheese that smelt and looked like heaven.....Then I thought I better check on this before I eat it. I thought it was too good to be true! Thanks again! Lollie
