ARCHIVED Am I The Only One Who Feels This Way?
Lollie replied to glutenfreeheather's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with Robin...If you are religious, which I think you might be due to your signature (Jeremiah), I would pray for the strength to get through this, pray for the peace you need, and pray for God to help you see the blessings that you have. I know that praying in this way will help. I had a horrible year last year......it was one of those where you... -
ARCHIVED One More Stupid Thing I've Done!
Lollie replied to Lollie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If I had known how bad it would feel I would have opted for the Krispy Kreme!!!! I mean if your gonna have pain either way, might as well have gotten something GREAT!!!! But the soda was good, I really love that soda, it's like a vanilla cream, sweetened with honey......but it has malto-dextrin, and some thing else, that's on the forbidden list,, but I... -
So here I am at my local central market. I feel good. I'm buying food for the week. I want specific fruit and veggies. I have a specific list of all natural meat I want. I even know what cheeses to get. Only problem is they don't seem to have any of what I've driven 30 min for. I get madder and madder. I see this specialty soda that I love but know...

ARCHIVED Am I The Only One Who Feels This Way?
Lollie replied to glutenfreeheather's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm sorry you are having such a rough time of it. I know how it feels to have been the "positive" one and then all of a sudden, everything is grey. I have not been treated for depression. I have considered looking into it, but when I was diagnosed with celiac, about 2 months ago, I decided to see what happens with just the diet. The part where you talked... -
ARCHIVED Went To The Gastroenterologist And Now Im Confused And Embarrassed
Lollie replied to jodikris's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You don't need any more biopsy's. You already got a positive. You have celiac. End off story. Your doc is living proof that going to school can only teach you so much, you have to continue to study. Unfortunantly, alot of doc's forgot about the self learning part. I had to take literature to my doc to get my inconclusive bloodwork......Maybe when you... -
The spastic heart palpatations you have mentioned sound like what runs in my family. My mom was recently hospitalized for this, as her heart began to race for just over 20 hours....180 beats a minute.....pretty scary. But my mom and I have had what we call little "run aways" all of our lives. It is true that these are typically caused by a lack of electrolytes...

"It also doesn't help when dr's tell you it's all in your head, or that you're too stressed out, or whatever. " ChelsE Yeah, I was really starting to think I was truly crazy. I have told this story before, but if it weren't for my husband, I would still be suffering and probably drugged. He's the one that figured out the gluten, not a Dr...

Geez....I sound just like all of you! I have been fighting anorexia for 10 years. I was heavy all through my teens, and then I got sick my second year of college. Since I was only Dx about 1.5 months ago, I didn't realize the food really was making me sick! I used to eat and within an hour it was out (D). I would be in such pain in the dorm bathroom...

I am so sorry for the harsh treatment you and your husband have had to tolerate. I don't know what I would do if my husband was treated the way you have described. I'm the one with celiac, not him, but he goes gluten free with me, he doesn't think twice about the grocery bill that is at least twice as high, he too, takes up for me with the ignorant among...

Lollie- You must be in either central or east Texas to have both of those options! I find that I feel like I'm being ripped off at Central Market, because many of the same things are available and cheaper at HEB... ...and HEB clearly sends all of their GOOD produce to Central Market

ARCHIVED Treatment Post Glutening?
Lollie replied to silly-yak-mum's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I do the heating pad, water, and I really like diet sprite. I have always drank it when I was in pain, prior to finding it was celiac. I like a hot shower, too! i actually have muscle relaxers that work well when I'm really sick....cramping and all. But I don't know if that would be appropriate for your son..... Anyway, that is what works for me! ... -
I wanted to post to tell of the very successful lasagna I made last night!!!!!! I was craveing lasagna and decided to give the rice lasagna noodles a try! And it was really good! Here's the recipe in case anybody needs a lasgna recipe! 1 box lasagna rice noodles 1 tub ricotta cheese 2 cans stewed tomatoes (save the juice) 2 zuchini chopped 1 pound...

I too am new! But I wanted to say welcome! I know that I was overwhelmed when I started the diet about a month and a half ago, but it has definantly gotten easier! You will get the hang of it, and you'll be healthier for it! Good Luck! Lollie

I'm sorry that someone was soooo rude to you! I guess you can never underestimate the truly ignorant! At any rate, I know how you feel. You've got to be ready for the stupid people.....honestly, I take the high ground with people like that. I chose to deal with them and know that they are ignorant. I figure one day something will happen to them, and...

Hey Betty- Sorry that it's taken me a while to respond.....had some family health issues. However, I stay away from anything that has too high of fat content. If I eat anything that is fried or has alot of fat, I'm rolling in pain and D. I understand that it's really common after removing your gall bladder, to not be able to tolerate fat. As...

ARCHIVED Born And Raised... First Post....
Lollie replied to celiacuser12345's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm recently Dx and I am so happy to be off meds. I was sick for 10years and misDx the whole time. Now I'm trying to help my family feel better too. It's not exactly easy to give up stuff you have associated with you-like food too often is. I'm an excellent pie maker, I come from generations of pastry makers, I guess that's what I was most upset... -
ARCHIVED What Does A Typical Day Of Eating Look Like For You All?
Lollie replied to BeccaM's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm some what new also but here goes: breakfast: A couple of eggs, a peice of gluten-free toast (either I made in my bread machine or some that's store bought and frozen. Lunch: Usually I try to make enough dinner the night before to have left overs, but if not I ususally make jasmine rice with cheddar cheese and sour cream (I call it cheesey rice... -
ARCHIVED Share Your Stories, And Journey With Recovery
Lollie replied to lemonade's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have not been gluten-free for long, about a month, but I can say it has made all the difference. Much like Max, I didn't have as much damage and I responded immidiately to the diet. I have had several mishaps, as there is gluten in nearly everthing..... But even so, it's great to be able to label what the problem is and go on. I had been sick for 10... -
Everyone has given you good advice. I had all your symptoms.....tried everything for acid on the market. I didn't get any better until going gluten-free. I think you have Celiac Sorry. But if you are anything like me, once you give yourself some time to heal you will feel better. I don't take any antiacids any more, and I was on Prilosec/Nexium for...

ARCHIVED Does Celiac Go Into Remission & Come Out With Stress?
Lollie replied to Debra Leigh's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with everyone else. You have to go on the gluten free diet. I was sick alot, and since going gluten-free I haven't had all the downs. Did your doc not tell you to cut ALL gluten out? I know it seems hard, but it is easier then you think. And it's very healthy. You said you had lost weight recently, the gluten-free diet would be a good way to... -
Welcome Basha! I've been gluten-free for only a little while. I understand the greiving, as so many here have already stated. I hold on to that in time it will get easier. I cry all the time....almost litterally. I chalk it up to being sensitive in general, but I think its good to let it out. I hardly eat out because I worry over what to eat, and have...

Lisa, I know I cry all the time. I just let it out and I don't worry what anyone else thinks. Everybody thinks I'm overly sensitive.....Maybe it's true, but you can't take it as a bad thing, I think it's good. I too know about the cleaning Gees, like you feel like cleaning when you feel like crap! I'm so glad I've finished school. I was sick...

Russia- the cupcakes were suggestions from JKMUNCHKIN from an earlier post! She suggested them to show people that gluten-free is good, and it worked! Judyin Philly- Thanks for your words. I think it's easy to get so wound up in your own problems/life, that you lose site of others. I felt really bad that day, but my mom has since confessed, she hadn...
