  1. Safely home from my recent trip to the UK. I had zero gut issues while traveling around this pretty country. Our tour leader was very good at making sure the 2 of us with gluten issues on our tour were well taken care of. We often got our meals before the rest of the group and adaptations to the menu for us were well thought out and very tasty...
  2. I just returned from a 2 week trip to England. While I was nervous about traveling out of country, they were very accommodating and I even got many of my meals before others did. Their gluten-free bread was often way better than ours here in the States. I didn't get sick at all on the trip!!!
  3. Thanks, Scott That's good to know since I'm heading to the UK next week.😊
  4. I was recently browsing a local grocery store's for gluten free flour and they had a King Arthur bread flour that was made with wheat!!!! Can anyone on this site tell me more about this?? Is it really gluten-free? Safe for Celiac sufferers??? I'd love to make bread again that actually tastes like real bread.
  5. Thank you for your response. I had read that they are more careful in the UK and the wait staff are much more aware. I always bring gluten-free snacks with me when I travel even here in the US. Airports are a nightmare to find anything that is gluten-free to eat. If you are lucky enough to find a Chick-fil-A in the airport the fries(chips) are a safe...
  6. I'm heading to the UK for a vacation the end of this month on a tour with Road Scholar. I haven't been out of the US since my diagnosis so I'm a little concerned about exposure to gluten during my travels. Most of our meals are provided by the tour. Either the hotels we are staying at, or places we will visit. Road Scholar is aware of my dietary needs as...
  7. We are on a tour with Road Scholar so will be limited as to how much grocery shopping we can do. They know I have to be gluten-free and from what I've read most European countries are much more aware and trained in gluten-free.
  8. I'm traveling to the UK in a month. For the most part I've given up on finding a restaurant in any airport that I can safely eat at. Therefore, I pack my own food and snacks. It's not great due to the restrictions of getting "ice packs" thru TSA but at least I can eat something safely. Another pet peeve of mine is that most airlines don't offer gluten...
  9. Thanks for the tips, Scott. I will definitely give those a try.
  10. I was diagnosed with Celiac disease over 8 years ago. I've managed the gluten-free diet without a lot of problems. My most recent problem is my husband has recently been diagnosed with various food allergies. Some more severe than others. One food that seems to cause the most reaction is potatoes. I love to bake and his potato allergy has thrown...
  11. I know this is an old question but I'm new to Celiac fun. After reading some of the older replies I am questioning if I accidently ate gluten in some Eckrich Smoked sausage a couple of days ago and the gut reaction just hit me. I also had a bad headache the next afternoon after eating it in my red beans and rice dinner made at home the night before...
