You mention body odor. "fishy body odor" is a reported side effect of consuming around 7 grams of choline a day. The safe tolerable limit is therefore set at 3.5 grams a day. I wonder if it has anything to do with you homocysteine level? "In summary, evidence to date suggests cholesterol and TG dysregulation, along with the phosphatidylcholine-to-phosphatidylethanolamine...

I love that answer. If you can, get him tested for vitamin D and homocysteine and Thiamine deficiency. Vitamin D among other things controls the autoimmune system. High homocysteine indicates inflammation and can be caused by low absorption of Choline, B6, B12, Folate, and or Taurine. thiamine deficiency: "This is more evident during rapid... -

Hi RefiFed1. If you don't know what it is you should get your vitamin D blood level 25(OH)D checked. Higher plasma levels of vitamin D moderates the immune system to control an overactive system. Low vitamin D allows the autoimmune system to run amuck. The Little-Known Connection between Leaky Gut, Gluten Intolerance, and Gallbladder... -
Even if Celiac Disease is not diagnosed, before you go crazy chasing down kidney or liver disease, try the gluten free diet first. If it is gluten there will be results in a day or so. Make sure to get lots of choline (eggs are good) The RDA for 1-3 year old is 200 mg a day. One large hardboiled egg has 147 mg. Tolerable upper limit is 1000 mg. That's almost...

For stomach upset or other pain I always go to Alka Seltzer. Bicarbonate and aspirin. Aspirin is easier on the stomach and liver than NSaids. Oddly enough aspirin is acetylsalicylic acid Salicylic Acid is Vitamin B11 (PHGA-salicylic-acid). And so is more natural to our bodies than NSaid Cox inhibitors. Aspirin was derived from willow bark. Native Americans...

Welcome AZLisa, Omeprazole-induced intractable cough Conclusions: Chronic, persistent cough may occur as an adverse effect of omeprazole therapy. Clinicians must be aware of this adverse effect to avoid useless and costly tests. While the biopsy is the gold standard to diagnose Celiac Disease, it is not the gold standard to rule out Celiac Disease...

Hi Gemma, welcome to the forum. It takes time. Remember also that "normal" weight today is about 25 pounds more than it was in 1970. They've adjusted the references so we don't feel bad about the out of control obesity crisis. More important is your Body Mass Index. After 8 years gluten free I finally have lost 30 pounds of belly fat over the summer...

If you have part C yours may cover it as prediabetes, obesity or something like that. Looks like these acts in congress are hung up and going to languish and die in committees. Here is a link to Dr Fasano's list of foods to eat and avoid. Products allowed/disallowed in the Gluten Contamination Elimination Diet (GCED) Hope it helps

Most infant formulas do not have choline. Choline can cause liver and gall bladder problems. Choline is absorbed in the small intestine, so Celiac malabsorpsion would make low intake even worse. My son was diagnosed by biopsy back in 1976 as soon as he was weaned. Was fed Nutramagen only for about 6 months. Oxford Academic Advances in Nutrition: Choline...

Yes to the 25-hydroxy vitamin D plasma test. Low vitamin D would help explain your mental health issues. Taking 250 mcg a day (10,000 IU) solved mine after 30 years. And low D puts you at risk for other autoimmune diseases. It is not a cure, but a preventive measure. Vitamin D and Depression: Where is all the Sunshine? Vitamin D and infectious...

Hi Noitartst, you've got good questions. Firstly, and in my opinion a key question, who do you need to prove it to and why do you need to prove it? If you eat wheat, rye or barley and you get symptoms that interfere with your life, and when you don't eat gluten your symptoms improve, you have gluten sensitivity (GS) or Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity...

How long should b12 be take as supplement?
Wheatwacked replied to Lindquist's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
LCHF Is that LowCarbHighFiber? What is the cause of your low stomach acid? Vitamin B12 is only in animal sourced foods. The normal range for vitamin B12 (total) is between 200 – 1100 ng/L (nanograms per liter), 200 – 1100 pg/mL (picograms per milliliter), or 148 – 811 pmol/L (picomoles per liter). Even at large doses, vitamin B12 is generally consi... -
You don't mention how you were diagnosed but thank your doctor for being so on the ball. Three months to diagnosis is awesome. Especially with non traditional symptoms. that is very common. Consider that they are addicted to it and can't understand why you are not joining them. Not much different than people offering an alcoholic "just one drink to celebrate with us, it won't hurt." Here is a good book hosted on Celiac.com. The damage done to your small intestine villi by Celiac Disease causes malabsorption. The longer...

I agree. Lots of thiamine, vitamin A from food like carrots, red leaf lettuce, sweet potato, whole milk, cod liver oil;, vitamin C. Dr Pauling was taking 9,000 mg vitamin C a day until he died in his 90's. Taurine is considered a conditionally essential nutrient. Like choline we can make some but not enough so we have an effecient recycling. ...

I was on prednisone for gout pain. It took 30 mg a day. As a secondary effect it took away my fibromyagia that nothing else touched so was continued on it. Once I started gluten free my dose came down to 5 or 10 a day. Unfortunately the two years on prednisone controlling the pains caused by gluten shut down my adrenal cortex causing secondary adrenal insufficiency...

Hey Bobby123, glad you are feeling better. Hard boiled eggs and an apple and cheese would be a great snack. My son eats a potato every morning on the drive to work. I make a salad of diced tomato, cucumber, hard boiled egg, pitted olives and mix it all in a cup of cottage cheese. The B vitamins are the primary for making energy....
