Refractory Celiac?
Wheatwacked replied to J Morgan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Two things to consider/discuss with your doctors: Choline is absorbed in the small intestine. This makes it a prime candidate as an unrecognized vitamin deficiency in Celiac Disease. Choline is used for synthesis of phosphatidyl-choline, a key lipid in cellular membranes; acetyl-choline, a neurotransmitter; and betaine, a methyl donor. Choline deficiency... -

Ibuprofen (aka Motrin or Advil) and ulcers
Wheatwacked replied to Posterboy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes. I started drinking 2 ounces Flavored Magnesium Citrate (10 oz bottle) in 10 oz of ice water, tastes like lemonade. It has indeed made a big difference in my feet. My feet are not burning cold and numb feeling. This nothing else works on, not prednisone, not tramadol, not NSAIDs. I continue with that daily, regardless. Somedays are good. Some nights at... -
Refractory Celiac?
Wheatwacked replied to J Morgan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sounds like a Fatty Tumor. I have dozens all over including my ribs. They are not cancer. I've had three removed, one on my back, two behind my knee because they caused pain. Show it to your doctor or a specialist. "A lipoma is a fatty tumor located just below the skin. It isn't cancer and is usually harmless. A lipoma is a slow-growing... -
Ibuprofen (aka Motrin or Advil) and ulcers
Wheatwacked replied to Posterboy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Not to mention liver damage from the NSAIDS, excluding aspirin. My analgesic of choice has always been Alka Selzer because it works fast, has bicarbonate to reduce stomach upset and protects the stomach. And for some reason it makes me hungry, which as an anorexic is good. For long term anti-inflammitory I was on Prednisone (30mg a day pre GFD, 10 mg post... -
In 1976 my infant son had the same problems. Also had a swollen belly and was miserable all the time. Everyone was convinced it was just colic, and if my wife would just take Valium, all would be well. Eventually we found a doctor and after biopsies and such he was diagnosed with Celiac Disease He was put on Nutramagen Infant Formula for six months and had...

The best of times, the worst of times.

Vitamin C . B5, folate and choline are also affected but rarely adressed. Here's a good article: Appropriate nutrient supplementation in celiac disease (tandfonline.com) https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.3109/07853890.2013.849383 "celiac disease patients on a GFD for at least 10 years with neither evidence of histological damage nor positive serological... -
Bread Storage Advice

I keep my gluten-free bread in the freezer and nuke them for 1 minute or just wait 10 minutes to come to room temp. -
Any Advice - Highly Appreciated!

That is pretty much it's own answer. Either Celiac Disease or Non Celiac Wheat Sensitivity. Ribs are good. Eat as much as you want, just not wheat, barley or rye or any of your allergies. 105 pounds is at the low end but underweight is better than overweight. I was released from the Vietnam draft because until I was 18' I was always... -
I tried a thyroid support supplement for six months, I think it was one of Dr. Brownstein's, for six months and did not experience any benefit and it is expensive. Then I did the math and found that 2.5 grams of sushi nori (one sheet) has 400 mcg iodine. Within a week I noticed improved muscle tone in shoulders and chest. I have it with my morning coffee...

Read the posts by KnittyKitty and Posterboy. You may be Non Celiac Wheat Sensitive in which case no amount of testing will confirm. I'm with you about the gastroscopy. True that negative outcomes are statistically <1% but so was my chance of being Celiac, yet here i am. Go with your gut feeling. If you focus on increasing potassium in your diet you... -
Ever notice how angry people get when you suggest they try gluten free? That's the addiction talking. Similar to the response from an alcoholic when you suggest they have a problem. The general population thinks that Celiac or NCGS means you are defective and so immediately become defensive. More correctly is that the foods we are marketed are defective....

I mix 2 packets of Quaker Gluten Free Oats(70g) and add 7 grams of Bobs Red Mill Flaxseed Meal for the vitamin A. 12 grams of fiber and 520 RAE vitamin A. The theory is that the fiber in oats catures bile, made from cholesterol, to remove it. This causs the liver to use choline to create new bile from cholesterol. In any case my total cholesterol is down...

DiGiorno Debuts Gluten-Free Frozen Pizza
Wheatwacked commented on Scott Adams's article in Gluten-Free Foods & Beverages
I have to wonder why DiGiorno would spend extra money to de-glutenize wheat rather than use an alternate flour. For that matter, why does Campbell put wheat in all their soups? I vaguely remember years ago reading a comment by an industry executive proudly stating that wheat is more addictive than potato chips. "Wheat is addictive in the sense that the... -
Dr Wentz states: "Thyroid cells are the only cells in the body which can absorb iodine" These articles might interest you. These are just excerpts. "Daily intake of iodine by an individual amounts to 500 micrograms;...Normally about 120 micrograms of iodide are taken up by the thyroid gland for the synthesis of thyroid hormones. While major portion...

Once upon a time, the cure for diarrhea was rice, bananas and bread. As an outside possibility, my older brother had a stoma that connected his bladder to colon that had a similar symptom. Unfortunately that elective surgery is the one that killed him. Septicemia because his intestine would not seal. Required a colostomy then stroked out after six...

I am amazed, in reading through the tests and micronutrient deficiencies related to hypothyroidism that iodine is never even mentioned. Even Dr. Wentz mentions 7 nutrient deficiencies in hypothyroidism, but not iodine. As a nation we are ingesting 50% of the iodine compared to 1970.Cruciferous vegetables interfere with iodine absorption. They test TSH and...

As you are already on a gluten free diet the tests will be negative. You might consider DNA testing for genetic markers for celiac. Celiac Disease is a disease of malabsorption. Of the doctors you mentioned the naturopath seems the most knowledgeable and proactive. Adrenal Insufficiency (not adrenal fatigue which is in the realm of quackery) might be...

"Although celiac disease is readily considered in patients with classical presentations of the disease, atypical manifestations may be the only presenting symptoms. We present a case of celiac disease in a 16-year-old female presenting as fever of unknown origin, which has not been reported previously...if celiac disease was more readily considered in the...

The ribs and hips and another bone (its been awhile since I read the research) have more potassium than calcium. "phosphorus makes up about 1 to 1.4% of fat-free mass. Of this amount, 85% is in bones and teeth...Antacids that contain aluminum hydroxide, such as Maalox HRF and Rulox, bind phosphorus in the intestines, and their chronic use for...
