  1. Just so we're on the same page, Post makes the pebbles cereals and is a Kraft company, which means they'll clearly list wheat, barley, rye, and oats, even if they occur in trace amounts.
  2. HallelujahAmen!!
  3. Where in NY are you? The CUNY School of Law in Queens is highly rated for their clinical program, and have a good sized aide practice. This school is very progressive and are easily outraged, I would contact them if you're in/near the city. I think they even have a health law clinic. I would also call every patient advocacy organization that will listen....
  4. and that's precisely why I have cats Not that they don't knock over any glass that's standing upright, but that's beside the point
  5. General Mills will clearly list wheat, barley, rye, and oats in the ingredients. They won't hide gluten under natural flavors or anything like that. Sorry you had a bad experience.
  6. Alright, who's going to be the town John-Boy?

    ARCHIVED Am Sick Again

I have no words of advice or consolation, but I'm sorry you're sick, and I hope that you feel better very very soon! Since the flagyl is so powerful, I would expect it to stay in your system a few days after taking it...
  8. I've found konsyl to be pretty gentle, it's psyllium, but it has nothing else in it. My gastro doc reccommended it.
  9. My dermatologist always reccommended cetaphil lotion, but I haven't a clue about gluten status. I currently use olay sensitive skin (no help to you, sorry), but in the past I've used neutrogena daily defense. I have really sensitive skin and it worked well. Have you tried any clinique stuff? Much of it is hypoallergenic... Burt's Bees has a bunch of...
  10. York peppermint patties are gluten-free, and hershey will always label gluten clearly in their products as wheat, barley, rye or oats. This list contains a bunch of inaccuracies!!! I preface my critique of this list that you should always read labels and check ingredients before consumption... Beverages - Ovaltine (rich chocolate flavor only is gluten...
  11. OhmyGod. That is the most awful thing I have heard, although the NY system is a bit, ok a lot, overactive. I hope you have a good representative and that you're able to get the help you need to fight this ludicrous battle. Did they think you had Munchausens-by-proxy? I don't even know on what planet it is reasonable to take away your child because you're...
  12. Yay! I'm so glad she's doing well!!!
  13. I've only ever gotten cake and bread there, so I haven't gotten glutened. It's so expensive for things I can make at home, especially since I don't like sandwiches. I hope it didn't make your daughter sick! Is there anything else it could have been? Also, I'm 98% mexican coke is gluten-free, since all coke products in the US are The only difference...
  14. Susan - Did you call the vet when the dog ate the nuggets? Chocolate is highly toxic to dogs, that much chocolate would have killed a smaller dog!!
  15. Sounds like cc to me! Pale poops are a symptom of celiac...something about not absorbing.
  16. Where did you find the Mexican coke?
  17. I take the iron supplement version of those vitamins, it's called floravital (same company). They actually work! In 6 weeks my iron levels went from dangerous to barely anemic while I was taking those. I can't tolerate any vitamins so it's amazing that these don't bother me. You can find them at whole foods.
  18. Me too. "Well isn't that niiiiiiice." <---I have to say that with my severest southern drawl to get enough non-envious sincerity into it. I gained 20 effin' pounds in a month when I started this gluten challenge. A MONTH. I didn't think that was medically possible Y'all can take some of mine. I guess we all have weight struggles of some kind....
  19. August 21st!!! I'm thinking I'm just going to eat 50 flour tortillas a day, since those definitely tear me up the worst... I'm so over the eating gluten thing! On the upside...I'm not that anemic anymore!!!! Wahoo!!! Gotta retest in another 6 weeks though...
  20. Lynne's husband is as straight as Burt Reynolds and his mustache Um, I was going to say something else funny, and totally forgot what it was.
  21. Tanya, I too got chills. I continue to pray for you and for Megan. I can only understand through my own mom, who had a chronically ill child needing constant care...he passed when he was a child (before I was born) and it nearly broke her. I'm very relieved that Megan is doing well
  22. There's a really gentle iron supplement called floravital, it's german, so you might be able to find it in the UK as well. It's a liquid and gives my extra sensitive stomach no problems.
  23. They're all over NY state, also in the plain ole' grocery stores.
  24. From what I understand from catechism is that the ill and young (under 15?) aren't required to fast. Healthy adults are still supposed to fast for at least an hour I think before mass. Thank goodness for Vatican II, eh?
  25. I grew up in a smoking home, and it totally screwed up my sinuses. I had huge adenoids that never went down and too-small sinuses that had to be widened, the ENT said that it was a result of all the smoke... I think my mom quit soon after surgery.
