  1. Now that's wierd, because I learn languages and write the same way. I don't have a friggin' clue about grammar rules to explain them, but I use them near-perfectly. I also never proof read, so how I managed to have such good grades on written assignments in school is beyond me. I was even published in the newspaper a couple of times in high school with a...
  2. You've never been to the South to cook, have you? The way people pronounce things down here would drive you nuts Wooster sauce sounds about right, depending on region
  3. So I guess you need southern substitutions I make chicken fried steak and gravy with a blend of brown 2 pts. rice flour, 3/4 pt. potato starch, and 1/4 pt. cornstarch. I call it my "frying" blend, since it's probably a bit grainy for baking but isn't for frying and gravy. I've made a roux with just cornstarch, but it comes out looking wierd with an...
  4. Here's what's on their website about their labelling: Amy’s Kitchen Products Amy’s Kitchen manufactures a number of products that are formulated without gluten containing ingredients. We strive to make these products as delicious as our popular gluten containing products. We currently have over 60 products that are formulated without gluten. Open Ori...
  5. I could have written what Debmidge wrote. I live in Texas, and every language I know other than English is useless here. I have second (french), third (greek), and fourth (ASL) languages. I even know some spanish, it was my first language and I lost it as I got older, but it does come back pretty quickly, I don't have an interest. I work in the non-profit...
  6. Glad it made the rotation!
  7. I second Nini about the biopsy. My gastro said I have to be gluten-free no matter what, even if they miss the damage (if there is any) during the endo. Your small intestine is 22 ft long, and the scope only goes in 5 ft. Sure, most damage is in/near the duodenum, but not all. I'd start experimental baking and cooking gluten-free while you're still eating...
  8. Thank the Good Lord and don't ask questions! I'm guessing it's the exercises and/or being gluten-free regulating your hormones.
  9. That's great! Congrats!
  10. Make sure to look into the HIPA laws, in many cases employers and insurance companies can't deny you coverage if you've been continually covered.
  11. All coca-cola, pepsi, and dr. pepper products are gluten-free.
  12. I have severe pain, too, but I never know if it's celiac related or not. It happens about the same amount gluten-free or not gluten-free, so I'm at a loss. I get "pyloric spasms" in which my stomach muscle just goes into spasm and it's incredibly painful and knocks me out for at least a day. I take bentyl, which usually isn't enough, and phenegean when the...
  13. LOL I'm on a similar diet (normally, not during these three months): the "eat what I can without passing out or crapping my brains out" diet
  14. Awesome, awesome, awesome!! I was worried about her today, good job!!!!
  15. Hellman's makes a mayo with Canola oil instead of soybean oil. I think it has a pink stripe across it
  16. Honors summer reading sucks. When I was about to take AP English, I read Madame Bovary and Crime and Punishment. MB was good and so was C&P, but it was hard to deal with the russian names I feel for you. I had block scheduling and it sucked, but it prepared me for college, time wise. It was also nice to have free blocks, lucky for me my favorite...
  17. Hershey will clearly list gluten in the ingredient statement as either wheat, barley, rye, or oats. Same goes for nestle.
  18. That is true, and whether or not he writes it down on paper, you're a celiac. I'm doing that same testing thing now, actually. My PCP dx'ed me celiac without an endoscopy and only on dietary response and IgG elevation. I don't want that on my record unless they've done all the testing on me that they could to confirm it!
  19. Welcome! I'd say it's a done deal. Your bloodwork is positive, you have celiac. Look forward to feeling awesome! There are some great replacement foods out there, others on here will chime in I imagine, and I'd also ask your sister how she copes.
  20. Your doctor is a nitwit. Villous atrophy is Celiac. Stay gluten-free and screw 'em.
  21. It'll stay up there forever, and it will help others with similar questions. You're helping fellow parents with your questions!
  22. I'm glad everything went well What all were they checking for?
  23. Well, if I wasn't going to buy the book before, I definitely am now!!!! What a sweet lady! An author for the people!
  24. If they're water soluble vitamins, it's harder to OD on them (though still possible!) because extra just gets excreted in your urine (ever notice neon yellow pee after taking vitamins?). That's why you can take massive doses of vitamin C and be fine. The fat soluble vitamins like A, D, E, and K are dangerous taken as supplements because they are stored in...

    ARCHIVED Grosss!

I find that abreva does a pretty good job. If your blisters are anything like mine, be militant and don't let them spread! I have a cream for impetigo that helps get rid of them, too. I think mine are mostly bacterial, though I never know.
