Sorry you got glutened from Weggies I'm terrified of the probable CC on the slicers, so I just buy oscar mayer deli meats. A lot of the cheaper quality deli stuff is full of wheat fillers, like cheap bologna. Either go prepackaged, or go to Wegmans really early in the morning before the rush.

I was talking to DH on the phone while I was at work, and he had just gotten the mail, and there was a package from Overstock.com. To my knowledge, I've never ordered anything from there. He asked if there was any way I could have accidentally ordered what appeared to be a book... (yeah, I accidentially entered my billing, shipping, and credit card info...

ARCHIVED What's The Scoop On Chocolate Bars?
penguin replied to elye's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Lindt puts malt into almost, if not all of their chocolate. Beware of them. I like the endangered species chocolate. -
ARCHIVED Distended Stomach - Lots Of Pain - I'm Confused!
penguin replied to DingoGirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I tend to believe him, because you do have to actually get the gluten into your intestines to do any damage. It's an intestinal reaction, not a topical one. You know how things like sea anenomes have little feelers and they shrink back when they're touched? Pretend the sea anenome is your villi, and that a hand is gluten. When gluten touches the villi, they... -

ARCHIVED Hungry Feeling Causes Pain?
penguin replied to zip2play's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I always attributed it to the hypoglycemia, unless I've had a glass-in-the-stomach pain attack, then I blame that. -

This thread is great. I glutened myself (on purpose, I know ) on monday and I've barely been able to complete a sentence since! Damn the fog! It's the first sign I have that I've been glutened. I feel stoned I mean, it's a cheap and easy way without going to Amsterdam, I guess, but I'd rather not. -

Nini, you've inspired me! Tonight, I will be working like a mad scientist trying to raise my ranch chicken tenders up from the ashes! ***Lightning strike for dramatic effect**** All ranch powder is is spices and buttermilk, right? I'm going to try to find a gluten-free buttermilk powder, and then add typical ranch spices and some vitamin A or...

I haven't made this yet, but I was looking for a recipe to replace my tenders recipe that used crushed saltines and hidden valley ranch powder (not gluten-free, right?). I'm going to make these soon, I've had a hankering for chicken tenders! Thanks for sharing, Nini!

I'm convinced that I've been a mom since birth, I just haven't had a kid yet. My Mary Poppins purse has everything in it, brush ups, bandaids, wet naps, chocolate (blood sugar/mood boost), immodium ( ), tylenol...I like to be prepared, I'm a scout, after all When putting a toddler to bed, I rub their back for a while and then quietly ask them if they...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Sorry, it's just that we must have had the same gastroenterologist. If the gluten-free thing is working for you, heck, just do it. It's just avoiding gluten, no harm there, it's not like we've all been prescribed drano or anything like that. There are lots of people on here that don't have a dx, and it's working for them... -
ARCHIVED Trail's End Popcorn (boy Scouts Popcorn)
penguin posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am in a wierd muchie mood today and in my earlier shopping spree, I bought nothing salty! Gah! Now, I must have salt! And I can't really leave the office, but I have this trail's end microwave popcorn hanging around, does anyone know if this is gluten-free? It's the stuff Boy Scouts sell and the nutritional information is on the carton, which... -
ARCHIVED Do You Eat It If It Doesn't Say "gluten-free"?
penguin replied to gemma's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've been glutened by stuff that is labeled gluten free by both Amy's and Bob's Red Mill. I don't really pay attention to the gluten-free labels, because there are no laws governing some kind of thing. Anyone can say their stuff is gluten free. I seem to be fine with most mainstream gluten-free products. -
ARCHIVED Why Does The Bread Turn To Rubber?
penguin replied to skoki-mom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Healthfood stores generally have them, and I get the plain. I actually like them better than Quaker rice cakes, they're heartier and have a good texture. I get them either at Whole Foods or Wild Oats/Sun Harvest Open Original Shared Link Hope that helps! -

I'm sorry about the diagnosis, but I'm trilled for you that you know how to fix it! Adjustment is hard at first, but I would suggest making the whole house gluten-free. It would definitely help jealousy issues in your kids and then you don't have to worry about cross contamination in your house. In my kitchen, I don't make anything I can't eat and DH has... -

I'm having one of those days where I have an insatiable urge to snack. Like, serious snacking. Like, go to the grocery store on the way to work to get *A* snack for the work day. I packed my lunch, too, with ample snacks. My trek through HEB went like this (pretend you're reading my thoughts as I'm shopping)... Walk in the door, ooooh, those...

Actually, my yogurt has 500000000000000000000003 cultures, but who's counting? For now, yoplait is probably your best choice, though I did find this article about Breyer's yogurt: Open Original Shared Link So be on the lookout for that...
