ARCHIVED Well Loraleena, You Were Right
Sugarmag replied to Janeti's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks Georgie. I'm a pretty stubborn girl, who usually refuses peoples help; thinking I can handle it all on my own. I think I better play it safe here and have someone drop me off and pick me up. I have a really low blood sugar normally anyways, and the whole not eating and getting blood taking a bunch doesn't sound like it will help matters. I can... -
ARCHIVED Well Loraleena, You Were Right
Sugarmag replied to Janeti's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks Georgie! I'll have to give it a few more weeks before I see if there's a difference for me. Since they took me off the adrenal support pills I was on, for an accurate ACTH stimulation test, I'm not feeling well by any means right now. I'm assuming it's an IV test, since they scheduled me to goto the hospital for it, instead of a medical clinic. ... -
ARCHIVED Restaurant Gluten Free & Vegan
Sugarmag replied to littlehi's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
That's great!! I'm so glad you had such a positive experience. It seems like if you don't speak up and ask if there's anything available to eat, you'll never know. I'm from St. Clair Shores, and will be heading that way for a wedding this summer. After checking out Moo Moo's site, I'll be stopping in for sure! Thanks for the tip! -
ARCHIVED Well Loraleena, You Were Right

Hi there, don't mean to jump in here...but just have a question. I was on Armour for about 4-5 yrs, and have recently switched doctors. I've always been very adamant about Armour, and how Synthroid is worthless to me. Anyways, I was on 3.5 grain of Armour, and still having hypothyroid symptoms, but my tsh was under 0.0003, and the rest of the ft3 and... -
I'm sorry you are having to deal with these "less than pleasant" doctors! I've been hypothyroid (and Hashimoto) for about 7 yrs now, and I'm finally now (I think anyways) seeing a good endocrinologist. I don't know much about supplements, as I've always been on prescribed medication for it. I do know that my new doctor who I just saw a few weeks ago, recommends...

I was just curious if anyone has investigated to find out if regular tattoo ink has soy in it. I plan on getting one this summer and I'd like to find out soon. I have a tattoo already, but it's 10 yrs old, and back then I was young and clueless to all my health problems. I plan on contacting the place I'll be going to, but figured I'd ask here first. ...

ARCHIVED Great Restaurant In Naples, Fl
Sugarmag replied to SofiEmiMom's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I actually live here in Naples, and honestly didn't know it existed!!!!! I'm SO excited to go and try it. I even read that they do not use soy oil, that's fabulous! Thank you for letting everyone know. -
ARCHIVED Wendy's gluten-free Menu Update - Nov 07
Sugarmag replied to buffettbride's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I LOVE Panera Bread!! I honestly never, ever thought this would be a place I could eat at. I can't have gluten, soy or dairy. They actually have an ingredient list behind the counter that you can look at. It has every single item in there, from salads, to dressings, soups, etc. I've never had a problem with cc there either. I love the black bean soup... -
ARCHIVED Adrenal Fatigue And Celiac Disease
Sugarmag replied to gointribal's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I also have adrenal fatigue. It started about a year and a half ago, when I had a very invasive surgery. I had already been gluten free for about two years. I went back to work too soon, I have my own business, and work 6 days a week on my own. Apparently that was a bit too much! (Both surgeons wanted me to take over a month off work to recover.) I... -
ARCHIVED Company Christmas Party
Sugarmag replied to Kathy'sUnicorns's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm going to my husbands Christmas party again this year. (I don't have one since I have my own business, and it's just me! LOL) I just eat before I go, and make sure to bring a snack. -
I'm 5'8" and have been about this height since I was 9-10 yrs old. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 24, although I was seeing a pediatric gastrointestinal doctor when I was 9 already! He just tested me for everything under the sun except food allergies/intolerances! I also drank coffee as a kid....so I guess either it didn't stunt my growth, or, I would...

ARCHIVED Rice Dream
Sugarmag replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sorry that you had this problem. That's why I always check each and every time I purchase it, just to be safe. I guess it's just second nature to me now. Hopefully other brands will make single serving milks. As long as the statement about having less than 0.002% isn't on there, it should be safe for her, but after your ordeal, I understand not wanting... -
ARCHIVED Hemp Milk?
Sugarmag replied to holdthegluten's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've only had it a few times, but haven't reacted to it at all. -
Well, I've never had any problems with the EnviroKidz cereals. I eat them at least a few times a week. I will say, I think I was glutened while out with some friends two weeks ago. The only thing I can think of, is that the bartender spilled a drop of beer into my drink. Anyways, I was sick for almost the full two weeks! I am just starting to feel better...

ARCHIVED Restaurants In Fort Myers, Florida Area
Sugarmag replied to MaryJones2's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Hi Tinka! Well, I honestly haven't been out too much lately, I've been really busy at my shop. I decided I'm going to venture out and try a new place soon though. I think anywhere that is Italian and has olive oil should be safe. They can cook the meat in a separate pan with olive oil, and it should be fine. I've emailed two restaurants on Marco... -
ARCHIVED Is There Casein In Lactose?
Sugarmag replied to tarabara's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
To the best of my knowledge, that is correct. I've been calling on my meds to make sure they're gfdsfcf. A few of them have said "yes, there is pharmaceutical lactose, but NO casein." I've been ok with the pharmaceutical grade lactose, no indigestion problems like I would normally get with lactose. -
I'm all about change..I think change is a good thing. I also love green and white, as I went to Michigan State University, and those were our colors. I also think having ads on here is good, the fees for Scott to have this forum up and running can't be cheap. I just hope the green gets lightened up. I only signed on a few minutes ago, and my eyes...

Cutting out the simple sugars is definitely good! I forgot to mention that, as well as cut out simple carbs too. I only eat complex carbs (like brown rice instead of white rice, yellow or blue corn chips instead of white corn, lots of quinoa, etc) and that has helped too! I think the body processes the simple sugars and carbs too fast, and then it spikes...

ARCHIVED An Interesting Tidbit I Found!
Sugarmag replied to darlindeb25's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Oh, I'm definitely going to check out that link, thank you! I have a Border Collie, which is in the same "family" as Irish Setters I believe. -
Well, I was definitely hypoglycemic before going gluten free. I have had episodes of blurred vision, and fallen down, and been almost unconscious. I would be fine as long as I ate something with some carbs, fat and protein every 4 hours or so. After going gluten free, I was great for almost the first 6 months. No major dizzy spells or anything! Then...

ARCHIVED Walmart
Sugarmag replied to almostnrn's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Oh, I hear ya! I was sooo mad when I realized Pink Lady apples went out of season!! Those are my absolute favorite!! I think I'll do a combo...some fresh, some canned. I love the Honeycrisp apples too...but at $4/lb....it's insane!! -
ARCHIVED An Interesting Tidbit I Found!
Sugarmag replied to darlindeb25's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We buy Wellness at Pet Supermarket. (I don't think Pet Smart carries it) I also noticed they have it at Wild Oats and Whole Foods stores. Our dog looooves Wellness, he eats it so fast!! Other brands we tried...like Nutro...he'd eat it...but not all at one sitting. -
ARCHIVED Walmart
Sugarmag replied to almostnrn's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well, I think I was looking in the correct place on the back of the package...but I only checked a few items, since I can't have soy or casein either, and don't really eat anything processed or with high fructose corn syrup. I'll definitely check out a few other items next time! Thanks for your help!
