ARCHIVED Thanksgiving Is Coming!
Sugarmag replied to Offthegrid's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ughhh, I hear ya! I'm the only gluten-free one too, (and soy and casein free now too). I just hate to ask my mom about this, but I think she might understand. She's really good about cooking gluten-free, cf, soy free meals for me. She always reads the label, and when in doubt, she calls me or the manufacturer. I just feel like I'm such a pain in the... -
ARCHIVED Thanksgiving Is Coming!
Sugarmag replied to Offthegrid's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ok, now I have a question! Is it really that bad to eat the turkey, if stuffing was inside? I don't eat any of the meat that would touch the stuffing. This will be my 3rd Thanksgiving gluten-free, and I know last year I felt a bit icky, but I think it's from eating too much, not gluten. My mom makes sure that there's always something for me, and that... -
ARCHIVED Processed Gluten Free Foods
Sugarmag replied to PaulaHayden's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with the food diary. I was gluten free for over a year, and lactose free too. Then I got the same problems basically. Turns out I'm also allergic to soy and casein. After eliminating those, I'm feeling much better! -

ARCHIVED Endocrine Disorders - Thyroid, Adrenal, Etc
Sugarmag replied to Nyxie63's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My thyroid seemed to stabilize the first year I was gluten free. But then I encountered some other health problems, and had to have surgery. After the surgery, my thyroid went crazy again. I also started to notice I was reacting to soy, so I cut that out. I was having horrible periods, and the soy apparently was contributing to that. Also, my adrenals... -
Oh that's awesome!! I miss Jimmy John's! I had one when I was in college, but after moving to Florida, I haven't seen any. I'll keep this in mind when I go visit people!! Thanks!

Well I'm glad you liked it! I was just reading in the news....Diddy, or P. Diddy, Puffy or whatever his name is now....is going to be the spokesperson for Ciroc! I'm sure a lot more places will have it soon now! -
ARCHIVED Gluten In Root Beer?
Sugarmag replied to Adare's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
OMG I love Virgil's root beer! It is pricey, so I only get it once in a while, but it is the best tasting root beer ever!! Also, 365 whole foods brand makes a good gluten free root beer too, but not as good as Virgil's! -
ARCHIVED Need Cereal Similar To Kashi Brand
Sugarmag replied to Lexie73's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I absolutely love the Enjoy Life Cinnamon Crunch. It tastes like real granola! A lot of times, I mix a bit of this, with some EnviroKidz cereal too. Open Original Shared Link -
That was me as well. I was gluten free for about a year, and still had some symptoms. But then all of a sudden, I was sick all the time again. I figured out it was soy. Then I was soy free for a bit, and still sick, and having rashes all the time. Then I cut out the casein, and things have been great ever since! I definitely miss the convenience...

It could be that you are hypoglycemic. Did they test your blood sugar when you had the blood work done? I've always had low blood sugar, but after going gluten free, it dropped even more. (it's usually around 60) I can feel when I get low blood sugar, I get really dizzy, and shaky, nervous. Mine also gets worse when I'm really stressed out, like you...

ARCHIVED Ceoliac, hashimotos Thyroidits And Diabetes Type1
Sugarmag replied to chenal52000's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I just wanted to say that I love Armour Thyroid! I tried Synthroid for about 4-6 months, and actually felt worse! Once I switched to Armour, the difference was amazing. I still get my blood work done at least every 4-6 months, since I have Hashimoto, my levels have varied. I may add Cytomel in soon too, for extra T3, since mine has been low. I noticed... -
ARCHIVED Oops, I Did It Again ...
Sugarmag replied to hathor's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hathor, I've only seen Ciroc in a few bars. Then again, since I own & run my own business....I haven't been out much lately!! (Somehow after working 50+ hrs a week, all I can think about is plopping down on my couch when I get home!) I know I see it at just about every liquor store now, so it should be sort of mainstream out in bars/restaurants... -

Sometimes I'll put it in a fancy martini type glass just chilled, with a twist of lemon/lime. (There's no way I could sip any other chilled vodka, just this one!) Or I like to put it in with a bit of cranberry juice, or pineapple juice. It's a bit sweeter than normal vodka, since it's from frost grapes. I just happen to like to mix it with fruity stuff... -
ARCHIVED Gluten And Soy- Free Corn Chip?
Sugarmag replied to oceangirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I like Snyder's Yellow Corn tortilla chips. INGREDIENTS: Yellow corn (enriched with thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, iron and folic acid), canola oil and salt. No preservatives added. Allergy Information: Produced in a facility that handles peanut butter. -
Well, I'm sure it could be possible! I have low thyroid (hypothyroid) and Hashimoto disease. I know when mine gets low, I do gain weight, as well as tons of other symptoms. But since everyone is different, you may only notice the weight gain. I had no energy whatsoever, very dry skin, hair starting to fall out, freezing cold all the time, etc. Hopefully...

Oh that sucks about the wine and gluten-free beer! I'm just starting to try wine again, as I can't have sulfites. I found most Frey organic or byodynamic are sulfite free. I honestly didn't even know there was yeast in wine! Anyways, before I discovered this wine, I tried Ciroc Vodka. It's made from frost grapes, and distilled 5 times I think. Super... -

ARCHIVED Primary Adenal Insufficiency And Celiac
Sugarmag replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Wow, that is a very interesting article! Thanks for posting. I have adrenal insufficiency, and have been taking over the counter adrenal support pills for almost 3 months now. I think this is something I've had for well over a year, but I just didn't know it, or know what to ask my doc to test me for. I actually figured it out myself, and requested... -
ARCHIVED Grrrrrrrrrrrr
Sugarmag replied to VioletBlue's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Oh I'm so sorry you went through that! I'd be so mad too! I don't even understand the point of them making a product, and then marketing it, only to go, "oops, nevermind...we're just like everyone else!" I hope you don't start itching! I can't have soy, so I know how mad I get when I see "and/or soybean oil" on labels! I can't imagine the sunflower oil... -
I'm a hockey girl! We have satillite tv, and we are getting the hockey package. So starting next week I should be able to watch some!! I'm from Detroit, and will always be a Red Wings fan!! I do watch other teams occasionally, or when it's playoffs, I watch em all!

I'm sorry you are dealing with this! I do know that Mircette, LoEstrin Fe 24 and Yasmin and Yaz are gluten free, if that helps you! Yaz is also soy free, and casein free too; and I love it!
