  1. I was an extremely shy, akward, 14 year old. I had just moved with my parents from Texas to New Mexico. I was out riding my bike when I noticed something in front of me. It was my 17 year old HOT neighbor. I guess I was to busy watching him bent over in his blue jean cut offs washing his car to notice the phone pole in front of me. Needless to say...
  2. I have developed a headache that occurs everyday at about 1:30 pm. This just started a week ago the same time I stopped taking Asacol(doctors order to stop). I don't have any other symptoms.
  3. The way I make it and I never write down anyhting down so this is what I do: I saute some chopped white onion, chopped green pepper, two cloves fresh minced garlic, chopped celery, in some olive oil. When they are semi-transparent I add two cans of drained red beans(or black-eyed peas) and cook on low. I prepare some white rice in another pan. When...
  4. Since Sept./Oct 2005 I have lost 37 pounds. I haven't tried I just started losing. 23 of them were before I went gluten-free. At first I was excited then I found out I was sick. I'm not complaining but I kind of get tired of the questions and comments on how much I've lost and how they wish they could lose weight too.
  5. Ahhh, that is so cute. It is so sweet that he understands that he is so special that he has his own book. Good job!
  6. I saw that and was a little disappointed there wasn't more details. Maybe if there was it would help those without it understand better.
  7. I had this done about two years ago. I had no problems with it and never noticed when I passed it. It took about two weeks to get the results. It was knd of cool looking like the bionic woman with the little pack attached to my side.
  8. I so agree with all of you. When I'm at home I fix supper and do not think to much about what I can not have, but when we go out it hurts. I've only been gluten-free for 2 months, actually 63 days, and I tear up at times for all I can't have. I don't know if it is just a pity party for myself or what, but I wish those I was with could really understand...
  9. Even though I'm ancient(as my kids call it) I have a best friend. She is a wonderful person BUT she has no clue about celiac. She said that she would love to do my "diet" because if she could lose 30 pounds in 5 months like I have she would do it with me. I showed her a booklet I have on all the foods she couldn't eat and she said "Well I could do this...
  10. I use their asparagus spears, the broccoli-cauliflower-carrot mix, and I have tried the tamales which do not seem to bother me, but please be careful with them. The vegtables are very good. I haven't tried too many of their other items though. Good luck.
  11. Please see a doctor if you continue to see blood in your stools, especially if they are black and tarry like mentioned. I have been hospitalized twice for that and it is nothing to take lightly. Hope you get to feeling better and find out what the problem is.
  12. I don't know if this will work but I made some trail bars with the same ingredients as granola but I had to heat some peanut butter and white corn syrup up to boiling then poured it over the dry ingredients and pressed them into a glass dish to harden. I loved them but I love peanut butter. The recipe is in one of Bette Hagman's books. I'm at work and...
  13. Thanks for your help.

  16. We live in a small town (2000 people), and of course everyone knows everything about you which can be a pain but at times it is wonderful. In this small area there are 3 of us who drive at least an hour just to buy our food. Until recently we just dealt with it. We have one tiny store but when he heard abput the problems I was having he agreed to look...
  17. Tell your husband Thank-you for giving his time and talent to serve our country. Also thank you for being a service wife. It is hard but know there are those who appreciate all he and you do.
  18. I just got off the phone with the Iron Institute. The woman I spoke with said that anemia was very common in celiac. She was very informative. If you need some questions answered just go to their website and there are phone numbers you can call and talk with a real person.

    ARCHIVED Traveling

My uncle passed away suddenly and I am going to have to travel tonight to S.C. We are driving all night. My question is what do I take with me? The next few days my diet is going to be turned upside down. I called my DR. and he told me to make sure and take Imodium with me and to eat carefully. Any advice???
  21. My doctor finally called back with my results. My hemoglobin is 9, but he said he was concerned because my iron serum and iron saturation were very low so I have to have another IV iron infusion. I haven't had one since being diagnosed with celiac. Can anyone tell me what serum and saturation are?
  22. Please know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
  23. I put peanut butter on the spoon then dip it in the fudge icing
  24. Thanks for the advice. It's so good to have someone know how you feel.
  25. I had some blood work done a few weeks ago(on a Thursday) to test my iron levels. The nurse said to call back Monday and she would tell me what the results were. Well I waited, called her back and she said the CBC was ok but they had to send the iron levels off. So I waited until this Monday and called back. She said she really couldn't tell me anything...
