  1. I have been craving french onion soup and wondered if anyone had a good gluten free recipe. Thanks in advance for any help.
  2. I just had surgery and my doctor has me on Ensure to help with nutrition and to help me maintain weight and not lose anymore. They are gluten free and don't taste too bad. I really like the butter pecan. Good luck.
  3. Thank you so much for the recipe. I have really been craving these.
  4. I use it with no problems. Hope this helps.
  5. Whenever I bake muffins I usually just put them in a container and put a clean towel over them. They are not so sticky but not too dry either. If I make a bunch at one time I will let them cool and individually wrap them in plastic wrap and then foil if I want to freeze some. Good luck.
  6. If you can find one, I use Namaste spice cake mix and add a cup of shredded carrots, a cup of golden raisins, and half a cup of chopped pecans, and it's wonderful. We actually had one for my birthday yesterday and out of 9 people I am the only one gluten-free and they all loved the cake.

    ARCHIVED Help Please?

I agree with those who call it a poison. I do not cheat and will never do it. I just had about 18 inches of damaged intestines removed and recovery is miserable. I do not want to go through this ever again and I will not do anything to make it happen. Please be careful.

    ARCHIVED Jennyj

Thank you so much for the wishes. You're a great group.
  9. I had my surgery July 18th. They ended up removing 18 inches of small intestine and two very large tumors. The tumors are benign but they are concerned because there are several other small tumors that they did not take out this time. They cleaned up the area around the two so they think they got the worst. It has been a very slow recovery. I am drinking...
  10. Welcome. I really like Ener G crackers with cheese. I eat alot of peanut butter, fresh veggies, fruits, deli meats. Baked or broiled fish or chicken. There are several breads out there, it just depends on your personal tastes. Just make sure to warm them first or I find them grainy. I lost alot of weight too in the beginning. I have not lost any lately...
  11. I use a corn bag--looks like a little pillow but is full of dried corn--that I heat up in the microwave. It is amazing. Sometimes I use Icy Hot but usually just the bag.
  12. I take tylenol for pain. My doc said it was ok. Hope you feel better soon.
  13. I eat ( and love) Santitas white corn tortilla chips. They are made in Plano TX. The ingredients are white corn, vegetable oil(corn, sunflower, or soybean) and salt. They taste closer to ones I grew up on in TX.
  14. I just want to say welcome and good luck. The tests are a little scary at first but when you think that they are being done to help you feel better they do not seem as scary. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
  15. I have no good advice but I hope you can find out what's wrong and start feeling better soon. I have been having some leg pain the last few days too. I have just taken tylenol and out a warm corn bag on it. Good luck and take care.
  16. Congrats, welcome, and good luck.
  17. I finally have a surgery date set. It is July 18th, no time yet. The surgeon who is going to do it has in his words done 100's of intestinal surgeries but has only done 1 other like mine but his boss hasn't done any. I am not too nervous yet but I am sure it will set in closer to time. Thanks for all the positive thoughts and prayers.
  18. I too want to give you my appreciation for you serving our country during this time. My brother served 15 months in Iraq (also in 2004) and I know how much he appreciated care boxes sent to him. I agree with deesmith that if you could let someone know where to send a box I would be willing to help you. I will pray for you not only over there but while...
  19. I had to wipe the drool on the keyboard before I could type MMMMMMMMMMMMMM sounds wonderful. Thanks for sharing
  20. I have been wanting a really good pizza. I'll have to try it, maybe a taco or a bacon cheeseburger. AAAHHHHH I can't wait.
  21. Those were good ideas. When we went to my uncles funeral in South Carolina, we live in Missouri, I packed a little care kit with crackers, cookies, peanutbutter, etc. At the dinner I chose fresh veggies, turkey(no gravy was cooked with it) and nuts. When I sat down I put my crackers on my plate and used my pb for a dip. No one noticed. I am sorry for...
  22. I have been going back and forth to my doctor, specialists, and surgeons for the last two weeks to schedule the surgery I posted about a few weeks ago. I am ready to get it over with when I find out that it is more complicated than the surgeon I went to can do so I have to go to a larger hospital in another town. I am not overly worried I just want to get...
  23. AAARRRGGGGGG! That had to be so frustrating. Like someone telling you " I just had the most delicious chocolate cake with a to die for frosting." Some people just don't use their brain.
  24. My son has come through his surgery pretty well. He is home with me while he recoops and I get ready for my surgery. I do appreciate the prayers and thoughts. I know I should be thankful for all the good and I am but I am so angry with the hospitals he stayed at for their lack of knowledge of what Gluten Free is. We were in two different hospitals and...
  25. I really love Pamela's double chocolate cookies with vanilla ice cream between them, if you are not lactose intolerant.
