ARCHIVED Dear Pizza Hut.....i Hate You........
schuyler replied to angel-jd1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Seriously. I remember when I was in high school (I graduated 3 yrs ago) and along with the cafeteria, there were lunch carts that sold lots of different foods (some healthy, some not). Almost everyday, my friends would order a piece of Pizza Hut pizza, a huge cinnamon roll (it was 6" by 6" and 3 " tall), a candy bar, and a soda. Maybe 2 times a month they... -
ARCHIVED Dear Pizza Hut.....i Hate You........
schuyler replied to angel-jd1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm really starting to miss gluten foods. When I first started this diet, just the thought of them made me feel sick, but now that is starting to change. I'm craving things that I never liked before; like Pizza Hut pizza (we always bought ours from a local take-and-bake because Pizza Hut pizza was so greasy and fat-filled). I've started dreaming about food... -
It is slightly different everytime, but it usually goes something like this: The brain fog starts after about 15-45 minutes, but it can take up to few hours for the pain and D to start. It usually takes about 14 days before I'm feeling close to 100% better, but after 5-7 days I feel well enough to do "normal" activities.

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Pantry Skillet Meals
schuyler replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have not tried it yet, but I'm interested in what others have to say about it. I hate spending beaucoup $ on something, only to find that it's gross. -
ARCHIVED Nice Eyelashes!
schuyler replied to ThomasMom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is very interesting. I have big eyes and long, thick, dark lashes. I also have fingernail problems . -
ARCHIVED Hershey's Chocolate

I love Hershey's because they won't hide anything; which saves me a lot of work. -

I'm not from Canada, but I wanted to welcome you to the forums. -
I'm so sorry that you got glutened Last time I got glutened at a restaurant, I let the manager know, so that he could make sure that it didn't happen to another person (they put pancake batter in my omlet that I had stressed needed to be gluten and dairy free). I hope that you feel better soon. Danielle

ARCHIVED Ok, I Gotta Ask This...
schuyler replied to JerryK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Apparently I looked pretty sick prior to my diagnosis, but I didn't notice it (and no one bothered to tell me). My appearance hasn't changed much, I'm still incredibly pale (but I've always been pale)and thin, with dark circles under my eyes and I'm covered in bruises. It's funny how before my diagnosis, no one bothered to tell me how sick I looked, but now... -
ARCHIVED Hard A
schuyler replied to Lister's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Happy early birthday!!! Yesterday was my 21st b-day, but I was too scared to try anything. -
I woke up this morning with another ugly rash on my face, so I went to the dr on campus (not the same dr as before), and he said he had no idea what it was. So, I asked him if it could be impetigo, and it turns out that it is! So, thank you Chelsea for posting about it on here, because if you hadn't, I would not have known to ask about it (and obviously the...

ARCHIVED Vegetarian Vs Eating Meat
schuyler replied to schuyler's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I bought some kinnikinnick things at Whole Foods, but from now on, I'm going to order it from their website because the nearest Whole Foods is about two hours away. Sounds good to me -
ARCHIVED Vegetarian Vs Eating Meat
schuyler replied to schuyler's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I've been limiting my soy intake and I've been eating chicken for a few weeks now, and I'm feeling so much better. I still have some bad days, but not nearly as many as I used to. I'm also able to tolerate more fruits and vegetables. Yesterday, I discovered the joy of kinnikinnick. That stuff is amazing! I tried a few different things, and they all tasted... -
ARCHIVED I Must Be Crazy, Or Am I?
schuyler replied to penguin's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Chelsea, I understand exactly where you're coming from. If you are not comfortable with the way you were diagnosed, then do whatever is necessary to confirm your diagnosis. I know that I'd do the same thing if I was unsure. Good luck with everything. Danielle -
No wonder I have not gotten better yet, I've been eating Quaker Rice Cakes multiple times a day. This is so frusterating!!! I do like the Lundberg rice cakes better; but because Quaker is cheaper, I've been buying those. At least I know now.

ARCHIVED What Is Your Ethnic Origin?
schuyler replied to Emme999's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Well, I thought that I had already replied to this, but I can't find my post Anyways, I recently found out some new info on my ethnic origin, so I'll just post everything again, with the new info. Dad's side: French-Canadian, Irish, Jewish, Native American (just a little of the last 2). My dad's family has a long history of autoimmune diseases... -
It can definately be done. I became a vegetarian when I was in middle school, and I just went gluten-free 4.5 months ago. A few weeks ago I had to start eating chicken because I was having trouble getting enough protein (I recently found out that I'm soy and casien intolerant as well). Since most of my diet revolved around cheese and tofu, I really suffered...

ARCHIVED We Can Have Buttered Toast!
schuyler replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love most Jelly Bellys, but buttered toast is completely gross! At least I won't have to worry about it contaminating the other flavors. -
ARCHIVED Vegetarian Vs Eating Meat
schuyler replied to schuyler's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Last night, I made some baby food out of zucchini. It was pretty gross, but since it was so soft, it was easier on my digestive system. I'm going to slowly start adding things back into my diet, and hopefully all will go well. Thanks for all of the advice. I'll definately keep everyone updated on how I'm doing. Danielle -

I never thought about olive oil; I'll definately try that. -
That sounds exactly like me. All of it. The keys thing just happened to me today. My family actually watched me search the house for my keys and said nothing (although I'm sure they were laughing). After awhile I gave up, and then my mom said "Have you checked your hand?" When I'm glutened, I become so forgetful that my cousin has started calling me...

ARCHIVED Vegetarian Vs Eating Meat
schuyler replied to schuyler's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My doctor's appt yesterday wasn't great . I'm down another 5 pounds (102 lbs at 5'8''), my oxygen saturation was low, and my blood pressure was 67/47. The nurse actually asked me if I felt like I was alive, and I told her "no." Right now, my body isn't digesting much; vegetables, most fruits, soy, dairy, and nuts are out for now ( I'm pretty much living off...
