  1. Welcome to the boards Celia!!! Danielle
  2. I'm going through the same thing right now. I felt great for about a month and now I feel horrible. I'm trying to do everything right, so I don't know what's wrong. I think that the healing process just takes time. -Danielle
  3. Chelsea, I'm glad that your grandpa's doing better. The human spirit is amazing and miracles do happen. I'm going to whine along with you about not feeling better. I've been gluten-free since January and I felt great for a few weeks, but now I feel horrible (sometimes worse than before going gluten-free). The exaustion is horrible, I really want that...
  4. I'm glad that you survived at Disneyland! When I went there, I didn't know about all of the gluten free options, so I starved the whole time! At least I'll know for next time. Thanks to everyone who posted stores that sell gluten-free foods. The best local place that I have found in Raley's, but they don't have a huge selection of things, so I can't wait...
  5. Good for you!! I, for one, will never go there again. It's too bad because I really like yogart, but if they don't care about me and my health, then I'll stay away from their store. It's their loss! Danielle

  7. My reaction times tend to vary. I usually notice that something isn't right within the hour (not necessarly feeling bad, just not "right"). Sometimes the full reaction happens within one hour and sometimes it takes up to 48 hours to start. Basically it starts with bloating, then comes the severe cramping and "D", followed by nausea, vomiting, and dizziness...
  8. Your little princess will definately be in my prayers. Danielle
  9. Good Job!!!!
  10. I'm glad that you finally found a GI with a brain! -Danielle
  11. Y'all are so nice and helpful. If it weren't for this group, I'd still be using the same toaster, shampoo and other things (and I'd still be sick). Thanks everyone! Danielle
  12. I have been a vegetarian for about 8 years, and I am also sensitive to soy. I only eat tofu about 1-2 times per week. I rely mostly on fresh fruits and veggies, yogart, beans, rice, and potatos. I have only been gluten free since 1/3/06, but so far I have had plenty of energy eating like this.
  13. Dad's side: Irish and French. My dad (and some of his family members) has had terrible digestion problems for a long time, but he won't be tested for celiac Mom's side: Italian, Native American, and possibly English
  14. I'm lucky that my family believes me (it took a few weeks for my dad to believe-at first he thought that I just didn't want to eat). Initially, only my mom understood how serious it was, but after a severe reaction to gluten in toothpaste at my dentist's office, they all understood! My friends are a whole different story. They are convinced that I have...
  15. I'm in a similar situation. I was diagnosed 3.5 months ago and I am feeling no better than before. I actually got so sick on Sat from a really small glutening that I spent the day in the er because I was so dehydrated, shaky, and I kept passing out. All that I know is that we just need to hang in there and stick with the diet. I heard that aloe vera juice...
  16. Me too!
  17. I actually just found out that a client where I work is a nutrionist and she knows alot about Celiac. I was so happy when she told me. I am going to start seeing her this week. -Danielle

    ARCHIVED Shakiness

    Me too.
  19. Thanks for the info. I've been trying to gain weight for a few months (I'm just under 5'9" and 110 lbs). I'll have to buy some Boost or Ensure and see how that works.
  20. I have the same problem as well. I don't eat any meat, fish, and I'm lactose intolerant. I haven't tried the sunshine burgers yet. I was so dependent on my frozen vegetarian substitutes, that I had no idea what to do when I found out that I couldn't have them. I have just been eating lots of mushrooms and veggies with rice. I eat lots of Mexican food as well...
  21. The Raley's in my area has a gluten free section. It has been a huge help to me, because there is one right by my house. The prices are actually pretty good, compared to some other places. Danielle
  22. Thanks for the info. I used to love Dannon's fruit flavored yogarts, and I was wandering if I could have them again. I wish they didn't contain gluten! Danielle
  23. Thanks for the info! I'm so excited now!!!! Finally real food
  24. I have had lots of sleep problems. My doctor told me that celiac can cause insomnia, but he didn't give me any meds to help it. Danielle
