  1. Have you considered dry baby formula. Nutraminigen I think? Is supposed to be the allergy substitution.
  2. 1. Must have been my entire life. I gave birth to my daughter and everytime I ate I got sick. then when she went on food she was getting sick too. 2. I'm not technically diagnosed. My daughter was diagnosed through genetic testing. 7-04 at 16 months old. I went gluten-free at the age of 33. It's rather expensive for testing when I all ready...
  3. I've had several doctors and a doctor freak out when the saw my tongue! Their explaination afterward is, it is swollen. Are the "curly edges" of your tongues the impression of your teeth? Does it sometimes look like it is cracked? If so then I guess I have a name for it now, geographic tongue. Sounds like I was sticking it somewhere it doesn't belong...
  4. Sucralose is chlorinated sugar. It is chlorinated til all the calories are gone and it is undigestable to humans. Aspartme is bad news too. Known links to depression and such. I beg you to research these products and stop trying to ingest them. Laura
  5. Any test the g.i. will do involve a gluten challenge and lots of scopes. They like to put scopes in private places. If you really think you want to know, try the genetic testing labs. Insurance covered some of the $ 750.00. Mine still came back negative. My daughter's test was positive and we react to the same meals, but I have the skin rash. Any...
  6. The Gluten-Free Gourmet Cooks Comfort Foods by Bette Hagman has a recipe for cream soups. I don't think I can legally post it on the net. Laura
  7. My favorites so far... Amy's cheese enchilada frozen meal Massel better bouillon adds flavor to lots of stuff! Pamela's Ultimate Baking and pancake mix ( pancakes are better than any gluten ones I ever had! ) Gluten free pantry chocolate cake mix ( make the peanut butter frosting on the back with the peanut butter cups on top ) cookbook The gluten...
  8. Just made a similar dish yesterday. Without a soup mix. Some people react badly to msg. cut up onion, add it to pan to sear/brown the meat Good time to add your gluten free spices Salt, pepper, the more you let it brown the darker the gravy cut up your vegetables (potatos, celery, carrots, mushrooms, whatever) MASSEL better bouillon concentrate ...
  9. I reccomend the book Kids with Celiac Disease by Danna Korn. There are a lot of helpful hints about gluten free substitions and dealing with social aspects. One micron of gluten ( a crumb ) can cause a reaction. Never intentenally ingest gluten. Mixed messages will confuse your children about how serious this diet is. There will be accidental exposures...
  10. I went gluten free about 2 1/2 weeks before the biopsy, asked the doctor if that would mess the test up. He said "no this test is so precise that nothing could mess it up" Got the results back - negative. Took one bit of a caramel candy-guess what? I think the test was WRONG! Is there any testing that can be done on a gluten free diet?
  11. I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis ( auto-immune disorder ) hypothyroid. Now I need to get tested for celiac disease. All the symptoms are there. What do you think the most reliable test is for diagnosing celiac? Does anyone know of a doctor in the metro- detroit area? I'm sick of seeing all the quack doctors! Laura
