ARCHIVED Final Results
mommida replied to Gables's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My son has had constipation problems. After my daughter was diagnosed with Celiac, my son was tested and it came back negative. He was eating gluten free and guess what? Constipation is only a severe problem for him if he eats gluten. If he doesn't have Celiac or an intolerence to gluten, how come a diet with less fiber in it makes his b.m. more normal... -
Have you tried talking to someone? Your parent, grandparent, sister, cousin, aunt? Tell someone how you feel what is going on. Try an organized sport. Drink more water, study nutrition. You should get a check up from a doctor to see that your body is functioning properly. You want to do something about your weight, that's good. Do it in a positive,...

ARCHIVED Enterolab Results Question
mommida replied to Bailey's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your test shows you are gluten sensitive. You have an auto-immune response to gluten. You are sensitive to casein. The damage to your intestine has not been drastic enough to prevent all absorbstion of nutrients, at this time. My understanding of Celiac and these results = you are having an auto- immune response to gluten that will cause damage to your... -

mommida replied to stef-the-kicking-cuty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Steph, You have helped me. I learned about something new. It just so happens a mother at school approached to ask me about Celiac. Her daughter has the peanut allergy at school. Her younger child at home is now going through the symptoms of Celiac or maybe E.E. I could only tell her about Celiac at the time, because I never heard of E.E. I will... -

I was interrupted from posting. My child was sick, and you know you gotta get that kinda stuff cleaned up a.s.a.p Deb midge posted pretty much what I wanted to add all ready. Both groups would be better off if we shared resources, and combined our efforts. Food label laws, social accpetance through education, and more knowledgable medical professionals... -

ARCHIVED Delicious Cereal!
mommida replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis before any gluten sensitivity or Celiac entered my vocabulary. I searched "anti soy" and found soy is not as good a food source as some suggest. It inhibits thyroid function. -
ARCHIVED Hot Chocolate
mommida replied to dove35's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was happy with Ah!Laska organic cocoa. They have a non-dairy, and dairy available. The ingredients list is gluten free, but they will no longer guarantee that it is gluten free because of cross contamination at the facility. Hope that helps, Laura -
We have a gluten free bakery/coffee house about 50 miles away. On bread baking day, pie day, and payday the line is out the door. They also sell some staple products. In the small seating section they have Gluten free literature out on the tables. (Living without magazine and such) When I have been in she answers a lot of questions about the ingredients...

That ice storm is headed my way. Let me add some stuff to your list. Smart water (it has magnesium and calcium in it) My own meal (I think we can have 2 varieties) it's kosher and does not require refridgeration chocolate! Think warm thoughts! Laura -
Because of red345 posts I have looked into yeast infections/thrush. Guess what? If you don't get yourself tested, you might just have thrush. I'm waiting for a call from the doctor with results. The descriptions are just too close to call. L.

ARCHIVED Celiac Blood Test
mommida replied to celeste's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I lot of people have stated the blood tests are not accurate in a patient under the age of 20 months. L. -
If you find a good gastro in this area let me know. I will not post over the net names of Gastro's to avoid, but if you think that advice would be helpful, private message me. L.

I would bring in hard copy of articles related to Celiac for the doctor along with my written out questions. Make sure that the pediatrician's office has an up to date gluten free medication list in your child's file. In other words I wouldn't leave it as an option for the doctor not to be informed about Celiac. L.

If all else fails, have you tried a local university or college? Some proffessors/students can act as enterpreters. L.

ARCHIVED Vaccines
mommida replied to gfmelissa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Since I have a financial interest and possibly profit from vaccination, I feel it is only ethical to point out it is your decision. You are giving your informed consent. Different states have different laws and if you have more concerns, you need to look into this personally. If you need help, your local librarian would be an excellent service available... -

ARCHIVED Vaccines
mommida replied to gfmelissa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You should read the laws on vaccines and never assume every medical proffessional is always fully vaccinated. I think your approach to "reassure" people on this site is too general on such a highly debated topic. The safest advice is to give a possible suggestion as to where the most reliable source of information can be found. Quoting your doctor... -
ARCHIVED Vaccines
mommida replied to gfmelissa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I answered the post under vaccinations. ( I never mentioned anything against a T.B. test. ) There are laws regarding this topic. Some people are not aware of exemption laws. Some people decide not to get vaccinated and have been legally exempted. You seem to be upset by that. A health care worker would hopefully have a code of ethics and protect their... -

Sorry I was interrupted, If you need to find a waiver form for your state, you can go to your local library. The librarian can assist your search and provide a hard copy. Richard, What if your wife, the nurse, had a change in her health and she was now contraindicated for the mandatory vaccine? The label states clearly the RISK now outweighs any benefit... -
ARCHIVED Vaccines
mommida replied to gfmelissa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The point was to make an informed decision. The laws, exemption, ingredients, contraindications, benefits, risk of adverse reaction, your personal risk for infection, and options for a possible safer vaccine are all reasonable concerns. The time to ask the question is sooner rather than later. Your profession is your choice. Religion is your choice... -

People take jobs and yet continue to practice religion. Christian Science, Jehova's witness, Christian, or Jewish, Muslum, Tao, etc. There are religions that do not belive in vaccinations. Can you say discrimination lawsuit? L As for reading the label on something injected into the body, we would be foolish not to. Eggs are a food allergy and yet...
