Dear Dad, Just to add in that the Wine at times could be cross-contaminated if the Eucharist was ever sitting in it. I am sure that you've checked that out before you partook of it but others may know understand the significance of the cross-contamination. D.

ARCHIVED Raises In Car Insurance Rate
debmidge replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Ravenwood: Make sure that you did not give up your right to sue for soft tissue injury - giving that right up will lower the premium, although I am not sure if you can reject that right in NY State as you can in NJ... and make sure that you have the Spousal supplemental coverage on the policy (a NY State Auto Insurance thing). Next question,... -
Gallbladder Info I have found to be helpful at these sites: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I have been though gallbladder problems and removal; still have digestive problems from the removal (diarrhea) and I take the Questran (prescription) with occasional Immodium.

ARCHIVED Pharmacy Not Celiac-friendly
debmidge replied to OBXMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It sort of makes you want to complain but then not want to complain as it could make it worse for celiacs overall. -
ARCHIVED Pharmacy Not Celiac-friendly
debmidge replied to OBXMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I want to check prescriptions before I take possession of them as they are not returnable. Do you have contact info on generic companies? They take the longest to check out for me...sometimes day or two; first to track down the generic then find the correct phone number. Is there are faster way that you use? -

That stinks -- but our hometown pharmacy is the same way. -
ARCHIVED Bug Spray Ideas Anyone?
debmidge replied to purple's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I once tried a natural Citronella lotion and broke out in hives as I am allergic to the plant itself. I see one of the companies who make bug repellent has a new item out that has a fan (?) of some sort and it repels insects. Saw a commercial for it. -
ARCHIVED Digestive Prob Other Than celiac disease
debmidge replied to debmidge's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes, it's my husband. He just passed an almost whole Requp XL pill in his stool and he says he also passes other foods whole, like black olive bits....he has pretty normal turn around time 24 hrs. He passed overcooked carrot too. Just don't know what to make of this; he's always been like this since having digestive problems. -
ARCHIVED Digestive Prob Other Than celiac disease
debmidge posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
What digestive disease other than celiac would create a digestive problem of where you'd see pieces of what you ate (for example, eat and chew cooked carrot very well and see pieces of carrot in stool, or an extened release pill you swallowed)? What health condition other than celiac would cause this problem? -
ARCHIVED Ridiculous Comments From Doctors Heard During Search For Diagnosis
debmidge replied to Sierra's Mommy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The most stupidest Doctor comments made to my husband was when we had the best health insurance - i.e., we paid upfront and were reimbursed minus our $1000 per year deductible back in the 1970's and 1980's. My husband was finally diagnosed correctly by an HMO doctor who was trained in a foreign country. -

ARCHIVED Why Do Some People With Celiac Disease Look So Healthy And Other's Don't
debmidge replied to Ms. Skinny Chic's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My husband went from the picture shown in the post to 130 Lbs. and never gained the weight back. He is 100% gluten free, dedicated to gluten-free as well as soy free. He now looks gaunt and ill. I can now say that after about 4 years of gluten-free he still is very thin and fragile in appearance, but his skin coloring is more normal (he doesn't look... -
ARCHIVED Help Me!`
debmidge replied to runnerkat's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Question #1: Did any doctor do a sonogram or MRI of your abdomen? You sound like I did almost 2 years ago. I had my gallbladder removed. Please check out this link. He's a gallbaldder speciatlist/gastro here in NJ. I learned about him after I had my gallbladder removed. You absolutely are saying the same things and having the... -
I recently read an internet article about IBS (not the same as celiac disease) obviously, but it mentioned that the intestines remember "injury" and will keep reacting at times. This article was regarding bile salts irritating the intestines and the after-effects of removal of the gallbladder and it mentioned any intestinal problem is remembered by the...

We visited a local Legal Seafoods and ordered gluten-free dinner. The restaurant management couldn't have been more helpful. It was a success. They have gluten free rolls & they are very good, but keep in mind that they are made with soy flour, onion and garlic (if these ingredients are issues for you). The mashed potato had (I thnk) garlic in...

ARCHIVED Is Anybody Else Furious With Reader's Digest?!
debmidge replied to r0ckah0l1c's topic in Publications & Publicity
What issue is this one? May 09? -
My husband's Jury Duty note states the same reasons: digestive illness which requires frequent access to toilet. The doctor's note has always allowed him to be excused.

ARCHIVED Celiac + Gastritis
debmidge replied to Hydrokube's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My husband who has Celiac Disease had gastritis (still) many months after he went gluten free (about 10 mos gluten-free). He had to take Acidphex (spelling?) for about two months to help the gastritis. He felt better after the Acidphex. Sometimes gastritis goes away on its own, but sometimes it needs a helping hand (Nexium, etc.). It sounds like... -
Had good experience at Legal Seafoods. gluten-free menu and manager intervenes with kitchen on your behalf. They serve gluten-free rolls (but rolls contain soy flour, onion and garlic - if that's important for you to know).

ARCHIVED 365 Brand Gluten Free Sandwich Bread
debmidge replied to gfpagan's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
In my experience, 365's yeast appears to be a "dud" . I went back to Gluten Free Pantry mix and I do not have the "dud" experience with gluten-free Pantry. -
I had gallbladder out 8/07. I had calcified stones on the interior lining of the gallbladder - maybe I passed one here and there, but they were not the prime problem. My gallbladder was calcified and diseased and it had to be removed. My symptoms were: pain wrapped around my right ribcage, right side ribcage sore to touch, indigestion, gas, bloating...

ARCHIVED Can A Hoa Ask For A Copy Of Your House Key?
debmidge replied to Prudence's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Ask for a copy of the HOA's By-Laws/Covenants or at least if the HOA can lend you a copy of the By Laws & Covenants and mark the page to identify the "key clause" . I guess it's possible that they want a key as per their rules, but I've never heard of this before and I know people who own homes in HO associations. Is the entire complex owned by... -
ARCHIVED Need Advice! Lower Right Abdominal Pain.
debmidge replied to MichelleBell's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have had gallbladder issues and had to have mine removed. But this information on link is interesting : Open Original Shared Link This doctor (gastro) concluded in JAMA that the gallbladder doesn't work properly in some people and it doesn't mean that the gallbladder has to be removed at once. This doctor is in NJ and is published. If the... -
ARCHIVED Swine Flu & Celiac
debmidge replied to foodiegurl's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
So does that mean that Tamiflu is Gluten Free? So is the other medication used for flu (like Tamiflu) gluten free? I am very scared of this one...never before been scared of flu outbreaks before, but this one unnerves me. -
ARCHIVED Delicate Subject - Anyone Else?
debmidge replied to Rebecca's mom's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Just start the rumor and WATCH the food manufacturers respond to this new market demand of GLUTEN FREE food. Companies which heretofore were unwilling to market gluten free items would want to be the GIG's best friend if this rumor was out and believed (and maybe became true).....
