  1. This might sound crazy but what if you used a sweet italian sausage and gluten-free bread mixture? The fat from the sausage would keep the stuffing pretty moist and would add texture..... I don't have a receipe but I just thought of it as that's what my grandmother from Italy used (except the gluten-free bread of course).
  2. I know you said no pills, but I have had this experience with undigested vitamins.....poor quality vitamins have a coating which does not breakdown upon ingestion and goes through intestinal tract undigested - coming out as as white lumpy thing.
  3. someone gave me "chicken steaks" from www.marketday.com and the site says that they have a few gluten-free selections. Unfortunately, they are "fundraisers" and I am not sure if you can buy directly from them.
  4. This is a time when you have to play "pretend your in a play" and smile a lot and wear that dress that you don't like .....or when shopping pick out a dress that she doesn't like and maybe she'll replace you before you have to buy the dress....
  5. This makes me think that there's no way the employers are going to do a test which will reveal Celiac when even doctors don't know the tests to perform to find it. One of the benefits of being a female/or/mother is that you can sometimes leave work for a short period to be with your children. I have known some women who explain that as to why they...
  6. I can tolerate the small amount found naturally in the milk chocolate, but when they add it as an ingredient, I cannot. I am only mentioning this as a source of lactose in case someone has lactose issues and didn't know it was in chocolates as an ingredient and not just naturally occurring.
  7. I am permanently lactose intolerant and very much so. I just discovered that some candies have lactose now: Hershey's chocolate bar 3 Mustketeers Reese's peanut butter cups I don't recall "lactose" ever being an ingredient - I learned this because I ate too much Halloween candy and had to keep running to bathroom more than usual. I read the...
  8. The really sad part about this whole Benefiber thing is that before they reformulated it a couple of years ago, it was Gluten Free and had no wheat starch at all. I have written and called Novartis Consumer and told them that the new ingredients are problemic for celiacs. We now get those samples too probably because I've written to them - see...
  9. I have no suggestions but hope you find out your triggers asap. Some on this board say that "Nightshades" bother them, but I have forgotten what their reaction to them are.
  10. I can't help going back to the problem of business luncheons and dinners - because many times the employee does not have the freedom to choose where it'll take place. Most times big companies have contracts with hotels for these functions. I guess the first place to unravel this is to find out where your firm has these contracts and contact the hotel...
  11. I can understand....business functions, which are much different than "staff" meetings amongst co-workers only which would have a comradery, would look askance at someone "brown-bagging" it. In the business world there are certain protocols which require you to look "the part" and not be different, especially around customers or the stockholders....
  12. Happy Birthday!
  13. Happy Birthday ! from another November person
  14. With regard to Pre Existing condition clauses, please review this insurance website.... Open Original Shared Link
  15. No, I don't want to give up my current model: my dear husband! Thank you all for the Happy Birthday wishes
  16. Don't quote me, from what I know Avon stopped issuing a gluten-free list and now wants you to call their Customer Service number everytime you need to know if something is gluten free. This being said, I called them to test them about a year ago. I called their Customer Service line and deliberately asked if their body lotion which had oat in...
  17. Ok sounds crazy but what if the "thead" was edible? I was thinking about shoestring red licorice (yes, the gluteny kind) - what else can you use it for?
  18. In the beginning, the thing that slows you down is the reading of the labels. Keep in mind that some products have gluten and it would surprise you. Don't forget your fruits and veggies! Those individual servings of applesauce are great
  19. Did your parents know about this abuse? As I realize that kids sometimes don't tell their parents as they are embarassed and don't want to get anyone in trouble at school.
  20. Then there's always going to be the chance that they are not going to "get it." Example: my MIL (age 82 at the time) felt that if you cooked the "gluten" on a very high temperature it would no longer be able to hurt you. She was at an age where she could no longer process new information and that was the only way she could handle this info...
  21. Wow this is very good advice for everyone who is still dating (with or without celiac disease) it gets to the heart of it. I guess I can only add don't settle for less.
  22. The point of avoiding trace amounts of gluten is to stop the body from making antibodies to the gliaden - and knowingly eating gluten is different that consuming something which may have trace amounts unknowingly. For instance, Benefiber proports itself to be gluten free, yet the label will say that there are so many parts of gluten per million. ...
  23. I guess what I am confused about is that I can see how woman at age 20 could get someone to be the "fool" for years - especially when her eyes are bright and skin is glowing and men's senses are picking up the "youth dew" in her cheeks, but 57/58- who considers sex as a 'chore' (I had to add that because it is true & it could change the responses...
  24. omg.... Someone (not you) is going to need years of therapy
