ARCHIVED How To Tell An Itallian Guy "drop Half Your Culture"
debmidge replied to raen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
As the non-celiac in our relationship (married for 29 years to the same person) and of Italian extraction and my husband is of Italian extraction, I want to respond. This is just my opinion. 1) Wow...there's a problem with your relationship that goes beyond gluten. Being in love with someone doesn't mean you become copies of each other (and... -
ARCHIVED Silly Question - How Many People Do And
debmidge posted a topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
A friend and I were talking and we were wondering overall in USA and Canada how many households have Dishwashers ....she thought it was 50/50 I thought it was more don't have them than do. So if your game, let me know then if you do or don't have a dishwasher.....then I'll let my friend know the outcome and we'll know one way or the other. D. -
ARCHIVED Ativan...gf Or Not?
debmidge replied to mela14's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
To find out if a generic is gluten-free or not you really need the phone number of the generic manufacturer. I have been asking the pharmacist what generic he'll use and then before I fill the prescription I call the generic company to find out if their product is gluten-free or not. The scarey part is is when a food, or drug manufacturer for... -

Neesee: Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Don't be scared however if when you wake up you have a naso-gastro tube .... I did when they took my ovaries out and the reason was 1) in case they had to re-section my intestines and 2) to keep my intestines from having to digest digestive enzymes and keep me from having intestinal pain while I...

I don't want to put needless fear into any condo owner, but if you are on the Board or want to get involved here's the issue: if/when condos are "repossessed" and that unit does not get sold, read your By-Laws, but some By-Laws have a provision that the remaining unit owners have to chip in more money to make up for that open unit's Condo Association... -

During my Dad's pancreatic cancer, the medical authorities pointed out his "cold cut" diet, especially cured meats like salami or pepperoni. The sugar connection sounds like a match as welll.

ARCHIVED Gallbladder Flush?
debmidge replied to MissCici's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Keep in mind that there's always the possibility that the stones will not pass and become lodged in the bile ducts which is painful and may not eventually "pass" through the system. And medicine can't sometimes "fix" a ruptured bile duct....(a stone which scratches and rips the interior of a bile duct)....... many home-remedies should be run past... -
ARCHIVED Life Insurance Question
debmidge replied to skyepie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Agree....keep old policy in force. You'll never get that deal again if without celiac. However, let them go through their motions quoting you a policy. Try Metlife, our experience was that they know what celiac is and what questions to ask. -

...my favorite are the specialty photography studios which let you "dress up" in costumes for photos. I like "period costumes." But you could include rock star costumes (with display-type musical instruments) - that would appeal to young and the "young at heart." You'd have to compete with the "baby photo studios" by taking photos of children... -

One question.....what is your MIL's age? I was just wondering if there were any dementia issues....... My MIL is like Mrs. Romano on "everybody lves raymond." Thankfully we didn't live in the same neighborhood. But with a Mrs. Romano-type you need to live in the next state.

I have a slightly different viewpoint. Here goes : Brother is involved with a young woman who is controlling basically . He enjoys it . He may or may not marry this woman . You probably do not want to alienate your brother. Young woman is immature, bossy and perhaps narcissist. Brother is probably having the best bedtimes of his life...

I had burr removal during my rotator cuff surgery too. The surgery and after surgery wasn't painful but the physicla therapy was. I went back to work after two weeks but I do office work, but I was able to drive my car back and forth, but it was a 30 minute drive. The length of the drive is important too. I hope your husband can go back to his work... -

As long as you have Medicaid approval but I thought you had a coverage "start date" issue? Here in NJ (my 87 yr old mother in law is on full Medicaid) most doctors who still take full Medicaid are in the areas of the inner cities where there are drug dealers, shoot outs, robberies, etc. My SIL who cares for her mother refuses to drive into those... -
ARCHIVED Shampoo?
debmidge replied to wsieving's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is what L'Oreal told me when I called them "They cannot guarantee that the Fragrance in shampoo/conditioner does not have gluten in it. Also that Fragrance-free is not the same as un-scented. Un-scented has "maskers" in it which could have gluten" End of conversation with L'oreal So I found a fragrance free shampoo which may be sold in... -
An ex-co worker was in touch with me and told me to read her stuff on this site "my sexy crazy life" (or something like that). I did not go to that site because I wasn' sure if she was conning me or it was some kind of naughty site. ARCHIVED Sleep Number Bed = Toxic Mold
debmidge replied to CarlaB's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Just an aside, but "down" can get moldy too as it's organic matter and can hold moisture. I know as I am allergic to feathers (down) as well as wool (which is used in some regular mattresses).
