  1. for you "Adventure" bar means something different! It is a SNICKERS product - read below. Don't know if it's gluten-free or not.... Here's what I learned about it from another site: The new Snickers Adventure Bar is a limited edition tie-in with the new Indian Jones movie: Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Obviously, they aren

  7. Interesting topic ..... If you were diagnosed with celiac how do you know it's "classic celiac" or "gluten intolerance?" I am now confused and thinking these are 2 separate issues. My husband's "celiac" symptoms did not emerge until he had to do a couple of courses of antibiotic (he had a blood infection). During the final week of antibiotic...
  8. I sounds like you are trying hard enough and it's not in your control anyway. I have the same problem with my sister in law: I know she has celiac - her brother (my husband) has it and she has similar symptoms and additionally arthritis. But she too refuses to acknowledge it - she doesn't want to know because then she'd have to accept it...
  9. Agree with this (idea of seeing doctor your mom works for) ....this could backfire and cause you more grief.
  10. w/ wheat dextrin - gluten free Anyone use this product and what is/was your reaction to it?
  11. This conversation has just made me change my mind about a movie from years ago. To me this sci-fi movie seemed so very silly unrealistic - I would say to myself "people would know what this food is made of." SOYLENT GREEN ..Now I wonder maybe the govt. could get away with it.. As an aside, I grew up with non-hippie parents - my parents...
  12. Anti-depressants (even St. John's Wort) will cause this reaction in some people

I can feel for you....I've spent my childhood, teen years and young adult years dealing with a mother who said and did cruel things - who tried to spoil good things in my life from happening. In her old age, I am there for her but I don't trust her to do the "right" thing and try to keep an emotional distance. It's difficult finding a proper Mother...
  14. This is what I meant when I asked the nurse? or resp. therapist ? that day in hospital...if there was something the patient can do - like exercises - to help improve breathing. But after reading what you wrote, my Aunt is not ready for this but they should be making her do something to get to this point. She's still too weak.
  15. Deborah I am 51 years old and at age 50 my gall bladder was diseased, only I wasn't aware of it because I didn't have symptoms of passing stones......but it was sending out bile (obviously not in normal amounts/intervals) and it irritated a pre-existing but unknown colitis condition I had. This resulted in diarrhea everytime I had a bowel movement...
  16. Absolutely right! My "triggers" are: all air fresheners - fragrances, even in laundry products - smoke - wood burning stoves - flowers - wine/sulfites - cats - fresh pine trees/branches - candles - moldy stuff - change in weather (atmospheric pressure/rain) - lawn cutting (could be stirring up mold) - heavily chemical or fragranced cleaning...
  17. It appears she is on ventilator - directly connected - nurse says it's to assist her in breathing and says she is starting to get dependent on the machine (they were trying to wean her off the machine). I am not sure what a "flow by set up" means. Is it a smaller machine? Or the same machine but set at lower levels? The hospital moved...
  18. COULDN'T GET IN MY ORIGINAL POST TO EDIT IT 12 YEARS AGO (NOT 12 YEARS OLD) SHE HAD HER ONE LUNG REMOVED
  19. Let me begin by stating the case 68 yr old woman with one lung - cannot breathe on her own - must be connected to machine to assist her in breathing. 12 years old this woman had one lung removed due to lung cancer. Did not do chemo or radiation and apparently survived cancer. Has oxygen at home to take at night. Fast forward to now: ...
  20. I was diagnosed with asthma while in my forties....never had symptoms before in my life.
  21. I've used Balneol for problems in this area (a non soap cleanser) found at drug stores BEHIND the Counter as it's expensive. Since we're on personal topic: are you at or near menopause or pre-mature menopause? Sometimes funky urinogenital stuff goes on during this peri-menopause time......
  22. To Sandra Only: Feel free to be angry and depressed - every situation is different and cannot be compared with the experience of others. I will not assume to know how wounded your spirit is. Anti-depression meds might help, but they have their own set of side effects. I will not throw out some glib suggestions..... and you are probably still not...
  23. I just wanted to throw this out here and suggest that perhaps we can have a thread which we provide website addresses for companies we do business with to purchase gluten free products. I'll start - rate the site by 'smiley' faces 4 = excellent, 3= good , 2 = ok and 1 = pot-shot and/or negative experience - please add any other pertinent info about...
  24. If you are not Kosher all year round you may want to buy "crumble" from Kinnickinicck Open Original Shared Link I believe this can be used to make a cheesecake crust....but I don't know if it's Kosher....
