ARCHIVED Insurance Issues
debmidge replied to wsieving's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Note to all: I don't know what state in US you are in, keep in mind that not all doctors take Medicaid patients. Just to be safe, call the doctor to see if he/she accepts Medicaid. More and more doctors are turning away Medicaid (here in NJ). Here in NJ, all the doctors which take Medicaid are in the inner cities and perhaps only a handful... -

ARCHIVED Nightly Right Quadrant Pain & Itching/tickling - Mostly In Back
debmidge replied to April in KC's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You're "spilling" biblrubin....hate to ask, but is your poop color very light? Yes a blockage does cause bilirubin to "spill" into urine. Bilirubin is also meansured by blood tests....what did they show? Always ask for a copy of your blood test results in case you have to change doctors, etc. When I was ill w/gallbaldder, towards the end,... -
ARCHIVED Is This A Little Unusual?
debmidge replied to Bravie's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Not unusual to have other sensitivities either pre-diagnosis or post-diagnosis. So far for my husband the other sensitivities aren't going away and it's been almost 5 years now. -

ARCHIVED It's Not The End Of The World.
debmidge replied to lsmall05's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Violet Blue: we can concur: my husband has same type of dietary problems with regard to vegetables (and tomato sauce) and spices. I think original poster means the word "mild" to mean "low amount of symptoms" as compared to what celiacs like you and my husband go through. No such thing as "a little gluten won't hurt you" and our jury is still... -
ARCHIVED Nightly Right Quadrant Pain & Itching/tickling - Mostly In Back
debmidge replied to April in KC's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
April I am going to go out on limb here and say "gallbladder." I had gallbladder issue and tests were fine. My gallbladder became diseased (almost like appendix). I had pain at night right front, side and back; then it progressed to nausea and gas and diarrhea. Then no appetitte. No gastro I went to and I went to 3 of them, knew what to... -
ARCHIVED Wow, People Really Don't Get It...
debmidge replied to samcarter's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ok, so we're going to inlaws to eat, they appear to understand celiac disease & diet, etc. We enter home, go into kitchen and SIL is peeling potatoes at kitchen table WHILE eating (gluten) Italian bread in handfuls. I cringe and say to her "The bread crumbs are going to get into the potato pot!" She retorts: "The crumbs will go down the... -
ARCHIVED Sleep Number Bed = Toxic Mold
debmidge replied to CarlaB's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Wow...for the past few years I've been tempted to purchase one of these beds. As to fungicide, if I am not mistaken isn't bedding sold in Calif. treated with an "anti-fire" chemical and many bedding manufacturers use this chemical for the sole purpose of being able to sell their products in Calif.? I had a pillow once that smelled and the manufacturer... -

Please, please try to stop smoking....this has been my past year: These relatives are very close to me....I would see them at least once a month up until recently. My Aunt, who is only 68 had lung cancer 12 years ago from smoking. Had to have lung removed (she was 56 years old then). She did not do chemo nor radiation but survived nonetheless...

ARCHIVED Help! Questions About A Christening
debmidge replied to *lee-lee*'s topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
This is just my opinion ..but Church clothing: slacks/pants OK but nothing tight or revealing or low cut. Informal but not casual like a T-shirt. Fancy shirt ok, but again not tight, revealing or low cut as you have to respect the people who are members and the Priest and their faith. (Some churches do not allow women wearing slacks/pants in sanctuary... -

ARCHIVED Herbatint Hair Color - Anyone Used It?
debmidge replied to Judyin Philly's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Judy: My Sister in law, whom I believe has Celiac but won't get tested, etc. and won't go gluten-free , reacts to L'Oreal hair coloring products (non professional series that you can buy in store) but does not react (itching and such) to the hair coloring products her professional hair dresser uses.....I don't know what her professional uses, however... -

ARCHIVED Kozy Shack Soy Pudding
debmidge replied to rothchild's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The frustrating and sad part of this "gluten free wheat starch" issue is that 10 years from now "they" could or may come to the conclusion that they were wrong and it does contain gluten. And we were the ginny pigs. -
ARCHIVED 2009 Gig Conference Planning
debmidge replied to cruelshoes's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I'd like to see a doctor have a comprehensive list of what to check for AFTER the celiac diagnsosis...like make sure the patient is checked for osteoporosis (esp. if patient has gone years undiagnosed or misdiagnosed) and check into other conditions/syndromes which occur in a celiac (small intestine ulcers, vitamin deficiencies, anemia, etc.). Like a... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Avon & Quaker
debmidge replied to Rindy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have an issue with AVON in that I tested them and called their 800 # which I might add is answered somewhere overseas....anyway, I asked if the Avon Oat Body lotion is gluten-free and they answered "Yes." This was about a year ago. AVON USED to have a gluten-free product list, but no longer...you have to call on each and every product. -

Dear Brizzo Please reconsider and don't leave the forum. Unfortunately, the censorship is an unspoken, unposted rule. ARCHIVED Taking Communion At New Church And Dh
debmidge replied to brizzo's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Dear Andrea I am writing to your "moderator cap": please then show that Bible study/versing/quoting and threads about celiac and communion are against the official rules. I feel it's unfair to allow the topic (i.e., no written prohibition on it) and then reprimand (OUCH!) the posters after they post "biblical". I've seen so many of these communion...
