  1. Can anyone suggest a gluten-free Oatmeal brand name? I purchased Bob's gluten-free but it's 20 mins cooking time and it's very rough (meaning coarse). We are looking for a shorting cooking time and smaller cut. Any suggestions? Thanks
  2. Try Metlife as they did a good job for us....
  3. All I know is that Benefiber did not have any wheat product in it before Novartis reformulated it. We have called them numerous times in the past couple of years after the reformulation and feel that Novartis really couldn't care less. In their minds it's Gluten free because they say so based on the # of blah blahs per PPM. I just want the old formula...
  4. Well......I am in insurance -- at the risk being unpopular I have to say that there's a lot of acturarial reasons why an insurance company declines a "risk." Sometimes they'd like to write it at the higher premium but the State Dept. of Insurance is prohibiting them as the rate would be excessive and against public policy. All rates and rules are always...
  5. Open Original Shared Link Info site about each state's health insurance rules and regs. My E.R. Co pay is $100 per visit - I am in the insurance business - keep in mind that the lower the co pays and deductibles the higher the annual premium.
  6. Call your past employer immediately about COBRA availability
  7. Just to clarify to all, my husband has celiac and I do not bake with gluten flour at all - I do not keep it in the house as it's poison to him and I know that. I have replaced all cookware and utensils for my husband's foods and my gluten ones are separate and labeled. CC is a huge concern for us. I do not bring flaky gluten breads nor gluten...
  8. Thank the Lord! that's fantastic! What a relief....I can identify..... Deb
  9. Over the last decade, our right to the privacy of our medical and health records has been threatened. In order to ensure the privacy of electronic medical records, the U.S. Congress enacted the Health Insurance and Portability Act, better know as HIPAA. In 2003, standards were adopted to maintain administrative, technical, and physical security procedures...
  10. I am answering as the nonceliac in our household of 2 : I made a pact with my husband 1) no wheat flour in the house (I no longer bake with gluten flours) - this was the biggest change for me and the most difficult to handle as I used to bake a lot. With gluten free, it's just not the same anymore. I had to give my great electric spritz cookie...
  11. If the Benadryl helps, then sure take it, but do not go off the gluten free diet if you have celiac. From my knowledge of Benadryl, the antihistimine in it does not affect the same "t" cells as found in celiac disease.
  12. My Thoughts and prayers are with you.
  13. My husband has celiac and he believes his sister does too. She will not get tested as she says she'd die before going on a gluten free diet. Anyway, his sister does not see the same doctors my husband does.....so I had an apportunity to talk to her Internist at a social gathering about my husband's celiac and how she could possibly have it too. ...
  14. Judy I feel the same way....there's a lot of things I'd say but I don't want to be put in the "penalty box." I do not mean to say I'd say mean, derogatory things but just saying the truth sometimes annoys people. I learned years ago that, overall, people, even though they SAY they want the truth, do not really want to hear the truth. This is...
  15. Be aware that Jennie-O products may contain lactose and/or lactic acid. I am severely and permanently lactose intolerant and Jennie-O products give me severe diarrhea.
  16. I don't know what kind of cyst you have....on 7/11 I had an ovarian cyst and both ovaries removed. My ovary with cyst was as large as a softball ...... I took the pain meds in hospital and they were put in my IV. I was in hospital 3 nights. After I got home I didn't need any pain med (I took Advil OTC instead). If you would like to know more...
  17. Just a thought, but are you sure she/he isn't just trying to get you to move out?
  18. A OTC gentle way to help hard stools is Colace Stool Softener They are non habit forming and do help. One a day (usually) is all you need.
  19. Do you have any side effects from this prescription? If yes, what are they?
  20. North Eastern Union County here.
  21. Jason Your diet is pretty much like my husband's....what happens when you eat foods outside of what you have listed? For example, my husband is soy intolerant/allergic, and has spice intolerances in addition to celiac. He gets extreme bowel problems/gas/diarrhea, indigestion/intestinal pain... D.
  22. I think the problem with this situation is that neither of you two went into this arrangement with the agreement one person's lifestyle will dominate over the other's - sort of like an arranged marriage. Your roommate is neither your friend nor your relative and only has a low level of obligation to you: being clean and courteous, fair and honest (of...
  23. The hotdog itself could contain gluten (as a binder/filler).
  24. I'd like to point out that the last time I purchased a Mrs. Mays product it stated it was Wheat Free and not Gluten Free and it's made in China. There's issues with products from overseas in that there could be strong cross contamination (please note the dog food fiasco from 2 years ago and the lead paint on children's toys situation). So proceed...
