  1. Or like the woman I know who told me that she would wait until she was diagnosed with osteoporosis, like her mother, and then she would get a prescription for it.
  2. How long ago did you post it? When you post a new topic, it goes down to the bottom of the forum you put it in, behind all the millions of "pinned" topics. A moderator will eventually find it, determine if you've put it in the correct forum, move it if it's not, and "pin" it, at which point it is up at the top. I suggest you go to the menu bar at the...
  3. I recommend you buy turkey breast raw and poach it to an internal temperature of 160° with an instant read thermometer if at all possible. It's much cheaper than deli meats and more reliably safe.
  4. Erewhon makes a brown rice crspy cereal.
  5. My gum problems cleared right up when I stopped gluten.
  6. Exactly the opposite of what I said. Thre is no liver contraction. If there was, it would be a serious issue, one to be avoided at all costs, as the liver has no muscles. Since most people don't have any liver stones at all, yet everybody produces massive amounts of junk on this purge, there's a different source. They are formed from the materials you...
  7. I used so many bandaids during my speedskating days that I can only use one for a day, and then I need to remove it and clean off the glue.
  8. I hate to break it to you, but you eat chlorine atoms all the time, as part of many compounds in the food you eat. Splenda is not deadly, nor is aspartame. There are possible risks to certain people, true. "Deadly" means it reliably kills people. That is not happening.
  9. I think there's a minimum number of posts you need to have made before you can put in an avatar.
  10. I guess you didn't bother to read what I said and think it's disrespectful of me to have experiences that would contradict your predictions. I have read the whole thread. This would make me seriously ill. I would have hours of violent and disgusting diarrhea. That wouldn't bother you, apparently. It would bother me, and I need to look out for myself when...
  11. Keep in mind that (and they may not have told you this) most people who have that operation suffer from malnutrition for the rest of their lives, as they are unable to consume all the nutrients they need for good health. Combine this with your gluten problems, and you should be able to recognize that you are making yourself sicker and sicker. Millions...
  12. I finally read this thread after avoiding it for days, and all I can say is that I am totally amazed. The cathartic purge of olden days is with us and going strong, but in the guise of "alternative" medicine. If it feels really bad, it must be ridding your body of a whole lot of toxins, and therefore it will cure many diseases that medicine has failed...
  13. It's up to you whether you go gluten-free to see if the diet helps or wait to see how much sicker you get, which may still not get you a positive diagnosis. If you want more testing, go to the doctor now.
  14. I'd start reading here "Gluten" is the protein found in wheat, rye, barley, and other related grains that cause us reactions. Other grains to avoid are spelt, emmer, and farro. Oats generally cause issues, too. Sprouting grains has no effect on the proteins, so Ezekiel bread is definitely out. Millet is safe. Rice is safe. As you browse through...
  15. I used to get these all the time, but I haven't had any in years, since long before going gluten-free. The only thing I can think is that maybe brushing with peroxide and baking soda has had something to do with it. When I first started doing it, my method was to dip the brush in a 50:50 peroxide:water mix, flick off the excess, then touch it to dry baking...
  16. I haven't had it tested since giving up gluten and dairy. The highest it's ever been was 168, the lowest 112, and the most recent 142. My father has low cholesterol, and my daughter's was so low once that the doctor thought she had an eating disorder and hadn't had anything to eat in weeks.
  17. I had something like this happen to me years ago. I assumed at the time that the antibiotics had cleared up some asymptomatic infection that was sapping my energy.
  18. It's possible you're not getting enough fat in your diet.
  19. My own elderly father has not been tested for celiac, which I think he has. But he has a load of things he shouldn't be having, and my mother will give them to him. He is lactose intolerant, diabetic, and can't drink coffee, so she fetched him a cup of premix "cappucino" to sip on while he is waiting for his meal. Mom! She is convinced that he is not lactose...
  20. Can you eat buckwheat?
  21. I agree. Most children that age require very few calories to support their body weight and growth, except when during a growth spurt. Just make sure that she isn't drinking lots of juices, which are basically sugar water, and which displace other foods from the diet. A while back I talked to a woman who described a similar meal ritual that always happened...
  22. Manny's are ok for rolling, but I find them rather thick and coarse. "Wraps" and burritos are always made from flour tortillas. Corn tortillas are used to make rolled things, like enchiladas, and fried things, like chips, tacos, and sopa secas. They just don't have the flexibility that wheat gluten gives flour tortillas, which you can fold without cracking...
  23. If it is a pill, you can crush it. If it is a capsule, you can open it and dump out the contents. Mix them with applesauce, as though you were giving the pill to a child.
  24. I can eat saturated fats and oils that are incorporated into something else - fried is ok, generally. A teaspoon of olive oil by itself will give me diarrhea in a hurry.
  25. I don't have problems with cross contamination, so I go by flavor and freshness. There are different types of processes involved in making coconut oil, and the end products are different, though you wouldn't know til you opened the jar. RDB (refined, deodorized, bleached) is flavorless. It is also known as "expeller pressed" It is good for all-purpose...
