  1. That's defiinitely not for everybody. I bought a box of it, took one bite, and tossed it.
  2. Actually, the coconut oil I use for general purpose baking comes from Walmart. I buy it in 31.5 ounce tubs for $2.67. It is refined and flavorless. I also have virgin coconut oil I buy on the internet (Open Original Shared Link), but that has a wonderful coconut flavor that doesn't go with lots of things. I've found coconut oil sold in natural food stores...
  3. Darn, major dairy hit.
  4. They look like lager beer without the head, they are generally sweet, and they have the delicate taste of apples. Unfortunately, some ciders have a strong sulfite taste, which I can't stand, although I'm not sensitive. There's a bar up here that has one on tap.
  5. Any weight-bearing exercise is good for preventing osteoporosis, and even if the exercise is not weight-bearing, it's better than none. So running and jumping rope are better than walking, but not as good as weight-lifting.

    ARCHIVED Applebees

Whether the manager's attitude is rude or he's a polite one, the message is the same. All the food is pre-prepared. Nothing is cooked to order, so they really can't do anything special for you, even the tiniest little bit.
  7. I use coconut oil to avoid butter. The recipe originally contained butter, so you can substitute it. Sure, substitute regular rice flour for sweet rice flour.
  8. I'd like to know how many of the people who have joint pain are actually suffering because of gluten complications. I didn't have digestive symptoms when I was still eating gluten, but if I hadn't figured out by chance what was causing my joint pain, I'd still be eating bread and having trouble walking on my swollen feet instead of wearing pretty shoes.
  9. I think it's important to start with the best recipe before converting, as all chocolate brownies are not created equal. Open Original Shared Link
  10. Of course it didn't have anything to do with celiac, but in the past 6 months or so I read about a study where they found that it doesn't make any difference whether you delay feeding the allergen to the child, the same percentage will end up with the allergy. I think it was peanuts and maybe soy in that study.
  11. Try this: 1 ounce salt 1 teaspoon cayenne powder 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper Mix together and put in an empty shaker. Put on everything.
  12. I don't think we can lay the blame solely on the medical schools, even if they are responsible for overreliance on drugs. The fact is that doctors are human, they are typical Americans, and Americans believe that life isn't worth living without a steady consumption of processed junk food containing wheat. He's made the judgment that a celiac is better...
  13. It's good that this works for you, but a pure carb breakfast would give me massive heartburn and be gone in a maximum of three hours. Everybody needs to experiment.
  14. You've posted almost every day that you've been glutened over and over again. How gluten-free do you really think you've been?
  15. I always use separately purchased spices, though sometimes I mix some myself. My mother never buys spices separately. When I wanted to sprinkle pepper on something at the table, she didn't have any, just lots of bottles of "seasoning blends".
  16. I think it's time to put your foot down. Just because your family is totally inconsiderate doesn't mean you have to give them all your food and then go without. I think what you need is to put a padlock on a cabinet door. When you make a pan of goodies, half gets locked up. When you pay big bucks for snacks, the whole thing gets locked up. As long as they...
  17. You certainly have a right to be annoyed at your husband. But I wouldn't be mad at the company. Yes, I'd love it if they didn't put wheat in things that don't need wheat, but people who care about whether there's wheat in a product are a very small percentage of the population. Almost everybody goes out and buys whatever without reading the product labels...
  18. This is not something you want to wait and see on. I've read that the longer exercise-induced amennorhea lasts, the more likely it is to become permanent.
  19. Do yourself up a business plan before you sink any money into it.
  20. Day 1 - Wow, this smells weird, but it tastes ok. Day 2 - This tastes ok toasted. Day 3 - This tastes ok toasted with butter. Day 4 - This tastes ok toasted with butter and jam. Day 5 - Threw out the rest of the loaf.
  21. To make a basic coarse mustard, grind whole mustard seeds in a spice mill (I have a coffee mill I use only for spices). Add vinegar until moistened and then add salt to taste. It will absorb liquid at first, so you may need to add more vinegar. Or you can blend it all in a blender. Don't use Chinese mustard seed unless you want it firey hot.
  22. I used to get canker sores regularly, but I haven't in years, which is about how long I've been gluten-free.
  23. The link doesn't work. Why not buy all three and test them out?
  24. My nasal membranes have been sore until just about the time I gave up milk products, now that I think about it.
