Terrific!
Just remember that you cannot cheat at all on this diet if you want it to really work--similar to the gluten-free diet in that respect, I guess.

Yes: Open Original Shared Link
I sent it unzipped, Roo. There's really no point to zipping except to slightly decrease the file size, thus making it faster to download and send.

Don't throw them out....first, make a list of all the lotions you have, then send an e-mail or phone call these companies--if the lotions are gluten-free, there's no issue. I agree that it's not a good idea to use lotion that isn't gluten-free around your child, especially in food preparation. But I think people put it on a lot before they go to bed (I wouldn't know, lol
) so that would be fine--then you just wash your hands in the morning...

Well, I guess then we could reply with the link to the reference thread, and then say anything that we want to that's not already on there.

I was also diagnosed late in life (at least compared to the rest of you). I am a whopping 4' 11 3/4" tall. Don't leave off that extra 3/4" or I can get testy!
My sister is significantly taller than I.
That's really 5', Donna. My dad is 5'11" and he calls himself 6'

Sorry, what do you mean by both lists? Do you want the master list, plus the zipped folder with all the individual lists? They're both the same; it would just be about how convenient you would find it for printing and such. I guess I could also unzip the smaller lists...just put them in a regular folder and send....

LOL, we all posted within three minutes of each other

Welcome!
Delphi Forums List
If you PM or post your e-mail address, I'll send you a 79 page word document of gluten-free products in the US. If you'd rather download it from the site itself, since I realize that in this day, you might not want to download a file sent from someone you don't know, follow these steps:
1) Go to the website, Open Original Shared Link
2) Click on "messages" or "start reading"
3) Select the folder "gluten-free Product List"
4) Click on the topic called "Downloadable files word"
5) Of the four options, choose the one in the upper right.
I think this is the best list.
Sholland Lists
There are two other lists, also, for foods and medications. These aren't always 100% accurate, though, so be careful

Gluten Free Drugs
This is the best medication list for the US:

I don't really recommend it because you have to pay for it and there are already some great lists that are free, but:

Clan Thompson Booklets
Pretty cheap, quite good--but the Delphi list is free and better:

By the way, welcome to our board!

Yeah...let's make it in this thread, though, finalize it, and then I'll repost under post-diagnosis with a more appropriate name and such
...any volunteers to help?
-
I don't either--but that way instead of having newbies constantly asking the same questions and people giving similar, but always slightly different answers, we could redirect them to that topic--and if they had other more specific questions, they could still ask about those under the thread they started.
-
I was just thinking that on some boards they have what are called "sticky" topics--those that stay at the top of the first page no matter what and on some they have a "FAQ" section or a section for the most important threads that you can't post under, but under which you can read some good reference points. There has been dispute on the board lately about newbies--let's not go into that, but anyway, we could compile a concise, informative post, stick it under, say, coping, and have it include...basically, a newbie's guide to celiac disease: companies that list gluten, good products, testing information, links to forbidden ingredient lists, etc. We could include links and our suggestions, type it all up, edit it as a group, and then post it and if it can't be made "sticky" on this board, we could bump it every now and then to keep it at the top. Then, when someone makes one of those posts like "I'm new, confused, and don't know what to do...help me!" we can direct the person to a sort of celiac information thread and not upset anyone about posting the same thing all the time. Good idea? Let me hear your opinions and if you like it, we could start compiling links and information.

As Kaiti said, definitely no. Funny, though, that this is under a warning list on this site:

LOL...this is the thread...I didn't look at the title heading..ha, ha...

Yeah...they had about six of these articles (different newspapers/news stations, of course) and I was going to post them this morning, but didn't have time. Will put under my news thread

Wow....quite an error to make
. Thanks for sharing.

Regular chocolate syrup is gluten-free...I've used it before and have a bottle in the house and it's gluten-free.
-
Currently 5'4"...was 5'0" at diagnosis last year...and I grew only about 2 inches from celiac, then another 2 after sorting out the malrotation (see sig.)...being 14, I have a couple years to grow another....8 inches, lol

The study was conducted before McCanns had dealt with their contamination issues. Additionally, most celiacs will not react to oats because the structure isn't similar to that of glutens. I do agree that it's good to tell other people that your child can't have wheat, rye, barley, or OATS since you want to be very selective about which oats.

Wow...that's disgusting!
so I'm glad you said something to them--
