  1. And here's a low-cal carrot cake, also posted by Mireille
  2. Glad you liked it ...some people are disappointed by Bloom's, but if you go anywhere, it has to be Risotteria. Highly recommended--I loved the pizza and my mom loved the risotto!
  3. Haha...Well, whether you posted it in the "dining/eating out section" or you initially posted it there, that's fine .
  4. Fasting for one day wouldn't do it.....umm...you could get negative results if you: Weren't on gluten for three months prior to testing. The person who analyzed your results messed up You are IgA deficient......which would make the IgA seem normal even if it isn't
  5. Yea...I've also heard that Popsicle brand is gluten-free.
  6. Yea...I said those because they are three of the most well-known specialists in their own celiac areas: Dr. Green is the world-wide authority/expert on Celiac disease Anne Lee works w/ Dr. Green and is the most well-known and best celiac nutritionist. Danna Korn is probably the most known celiac author and the founder of R.O.C.K. (Raising our...
  7. Another celebrity? From Open Original Shared Link March 31, 2005 As Seen On TV! So, my adrenaline is still pumping from my experience Tuesday. I have to explain first that after we started CeliacChicks.com in August 2003 someone informed us that when Elisabeth Hasselbeck of The View first introduced herself she said something about not eating...
  8. Yes...I eat mostly Jif, but a little Skippy--and I don't get sick from them either.
  9. Unfortunately, that isn't long enough. Most doctors recommend 3 months of gluten prior to testing for accurate results. Now, on the other hand, you've only been gluten-free about 3 days....so just go back to a normal diet now and your testing should come out fine. You want to get accurate results, so I wouldn't risk another two weeks eating gluten-free...
  10. Open Original Shared Link. Then look for "health and wellness" on the left and click it. Then the first one should be Celiac Disease Online Support Group & Message Board (or something of the sort). You need to register, but that's free.
  11. I eat mostly Haagen-Dazs....also if you go to Edys website and go to flavor finder, then you can choose "gluten free" as an option you want and get the gluten-free list.
  12. This carrot cake recipe came from Mireille (a really knowledgable celiac from the Delphi Forums board). She has her own restaurant and posts multiple recipes daily:
  13. Be careful with this list. It used to be a constantly updated one until the board on Delphi came about and the list was moved to and updated there. This one is many years old.......
  14. Sorry...I'm back There's a cooking/recipe section on celiac.com that I think is kept moderately simple. The PB cookie recipe is probably amongst them.... https://www.celiac.com/st_main.html?p_catid...-51105312601.75
  15. Yes--the PB cookies are great, simple, and quick.
  16. Also, if you want to eat out, it's still an option. Certain chains have gluten-free menus (on the internet), such as McDonalds, Outback Steakhouse, and Arbys. Here are some specific options in New York City: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open...
  17. Nope...not in the back of your throat. Only in the intestines. And like Kaiti quoted, theoretically, gluten wouldn't cause damage if it got in your nose or mouth...it's just that if it gets in your mouth, it's nearly inevitable that some will get down your throat, through stomach, etc. until reaching the small intestines and causing damage.
  18. Dessa, A couple things bothered me (about that article) also. I didn't like that they said Milk (2 servings) or something. It makes it sound like if a celiac has more than 2 servings of milk, he or she will have a reaction or something. I also thought that for a new celiac it would give the wrong impression. Not all candy is gluten-free, not all...
  19. Open Original Shared Link Above is a post I made about restaurants.....and I think I mentioned a couple delis. Also, if you go into basically any deli, they'll usually have something you can have (chips, etc.). Where will you be most of the time? I know there are quite a few healthfood stores downtown, on the Upper East Side, and on the Upper West...
  20. Sarah, I really dislike eating out, as well. I find it very stressful and not enjoyable in the slightest. Since being diagnosed, I've only had one enjoyable experience eating out, which was when I went to Open Original Shared Link (in New York City). Almost their entire menu is gluten-free: all the desserts are, they have gluten-free pizza which is...
  21. Yes--I wouldn't recommend Bette Hagman's recipes for someone who doesn't like to cook in the first place. Many of them are complicated or require a lot of time. If they some looked easy enough, though, you could just divide the ingredients from something that makes 4 servings by 4......then you get one serving. Or make all four and freeze it for when you...

  23. Oh, you can post it under an existing topic, such as this, or make a new thread on it....for this question, under the ingredients & food labeling issues section.
  24. Yes--my family ordered about 10 . They're great!
