ARCHIVED I'm Tired Of Living Like This....
shai76 replied to shai76's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
LOL! At least you made me laugh. My stomach still hurts but at least I didn't spend the majority of the day in the bathroom, so I'm doing good. Does anyone else get really nauseous from gluten on top of everything else? I do. I have no appetite and feel so depressed. My eczema has been worse too. But I feel like I am slowly recovering. -

Yes it does. Thanks. And I sometimes use a circular polariser (especially working outdoors or with kids). I'm a portrait photographer so I don't have a press pass. I mostly shoot kids.....okay, that sounds sort of bad and funny at the same time. Today my stomach aches weren't as bad, and I sold some nice wall portraits to a very beautiful family I shot... -
ARCHIVED Need A Soy Free, Dairy Free Milk Replacer.

Wow, I think I might try that potato milk! I never even knew about it. I usually use homemade rice milk, which I think is sort of gross. -

Thanks for your support. I think you are right, that I am just feeling depressed from the gluten. Partly from the way it effects my brain and mostly because I feel so run down from effects of this challenge. I can't wait until those effects wear off too. I just feel so exhausted! I was on my eliptical trainer last night and could only do 15 minutes. I usually... -
I used to come here a lot but haven't a lot this summer because the whole celiac and food allergy thing has been something that I've been trying to forget about. Don'tget me wrong, I still watch my diet. I just feel like it is my identity at times and that can get depressing. The past couple weeks I did a challenge and I am still recovering. I thought maybe...

I eat a tleast one banana a day, often more. They are great in smoothies, and I also use them to replace cereal. I cut up a banana, add raisins and dates, then pour vanilla rice milk over it all. Yum. I think it's weird that bananas are actually an herb not a fruit.

It's dyshidrotic eczema. I've had it for ten years. It goes away as long as I stay away from things I am allergic to. You might want to get some allergy testing done. Link: Open Original Shared Link It can also effect the finger nails after years of having it. It has mine. It makes them bumpy and ridgey. Diagnosing skin problems is tricky. That's why talking...

They said everything in my sons biopsy looked normal. He just has some mild stomach irritations (from gastritis & reflux) which explains why he has problems whenever we try to take him off the medication. No celiac, no allergic inflammation or swelling. I'm very relieved.

I don't understand. Celiac is the inability for the boyd to digest gluten. Since when is it bad to even touch it? I have food allergies that I react to if I touch those things because it if a histamine reaction. But I thought gluten had to actually go through the stomach to cause symptoms.

Thanks. I'm still anxiously awaiting for his test results! I hope they come back perfect too. -
ARCHIVED Losing My Mind With These Doctors
shai76 replied to chgomom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
He sounds like a sadist. Why does he want to put scopes in both ends so bad? I'd tell him to shove it up his own rear end, maybe he will find that stick that's been crammed up there. -
Same here. I eat the "eat what I can without dying of an allergic reaction or crapping my brains out" diet.

What a relief! I'm glad she tolerated it so well and that everything appears okay. -
ARCHIVED The Endoscopy Went Great!
shai76 replied to shai76's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
They are checking for allergic inflamation, eosiniphils, signs of celiac. He has had milk allergy and reflux since birth and has been on medication since he was born (2 years) so they wanted to look in there and see what was going on. -

I love the more expensive waters. But I only buy them as a special treat once in awhile, I hate paying a lot for water! But which of the more expensive ones are bad and what exactly is in them??? I'm imagining someone filling bottles up from their tap in a swanky New Jersey apartment, labeling it and then shipping it to the store where I buy it for a hiked... -
ARCHIVED The Endoscopy Went Great!
shai76 replied to shai76's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thanks! He is taking a nap now, but he seems happy. He didn't get mad at me, he was mad at the medical personell. He didn't like the IV when he woke up, but he didn't try to pull it out. He just kept holding his arm up, looking at it and crying. He was very happy to leave there. He was pretty hungry too, but I am keeping him from eating too much at... -

Everything looks normal but we won't get the results of the biopsy until next week, so keep your fingers crossed until then. I'm hoping he doesn't have a bunch of eos and other inflammatory cells like me. I guess they took some biopsys of his small intestinal tract to rule out celiac, so hopefully that comes back ok too. He was such a big boy, though he... -
I see going vegetarian as an ethical decision, not something to take lightly as a diet change. Low carb is just not a wise diet decision either. Carbs are important for our bodies to function. If you want to be healthy just include a lot of raw veggies and fruits in your diet,a nd make sure you get enough calories for your type.

Tanya, I think if you bought distilled water it would not have anything extra in it. Thanks for your well wishes with Griffin's (my sons) scope. I hope all goes well for you all tomorrow too. Hopefully you will find the answers. There is nothing worse then being in limbo. :/ BTW, the launch was cool. I was so happy to see it went perfectly. -
ARCHIVED Megan's Gagging Isn't Any Better

I worry that he will end up with a bunch of cavities since I do not give him suppliments. I tried but the high iron content in the vitamin caused his reflux to worsen That makes me wonder if that could be part of Megans problem? I've been thinking a lot about what could make her feel even better. -

Some citys still do I guess. If anyone is concerned about it they should first contact the city water people to see if they put flouride in the water. I know ours doesn't. My doctor said something about giving my son flouride, but I'm still hesitant on doing that. With all the problems he has already with allergies and reflux I don't want to push it. -

City water no longer has flouride in it ANYWHERE. Don't take my word for it, call your local water company. It's actually an allergen and too many people can get sick from it. If you want your child to take flouride talk to your doctor about a prescription for a suppliment, or buy flouride water. Though I wouldn't give a kid too much flouride or their teeth... -
ARCHIVED Skin-prick Test - Can It Diagnose A Wheat Allergy?
shai76 replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes food allergies do cause intestinal symptoms. It can cause stomach aches, bloody diarrhea, constipation, vomiting, reflux. They call it gastrointestinal anaphelexis. I've had it before from my food allergies, so I know! I am allergic to wheat and tested positive on the blood test for celiac. I don't know for certain if I am gluten intolerant because I... -
ARCHIVED Holidays Are Tough - Feeling Sorry For Myself
shai76 replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I guess a lot of us here can relate to that. I'm sorry you felt left out. I think you should talk to them and let them know how it hurt your feelings. Maybe they will make it up to you somehow. I hate feelings left out, I have been dealing with that more lately since being diagnosed with at least a dozen food allergies and EE, some of them airborn anaphelectic... -

It's very rare but some kids are allergic to the proteins in the breast milk it's self. I think it would be worth a try to take her off of breast milk completely, especially since she has started to do better with the tube feedings. .
