  1. I don't know if I said this already, but I just went a week and 1/2 ago to a neuro who specializes in balance disorders and he said, "You'll get better..." I asked if it is related to gluten and he siad"...we ll,other symptoms improved since you have been gluten free, I would stay gluten free..." No #$%^&* sh--!! I have celiac disease!!! You flippin'...
  2. Where are you? I really want to know your stuff b/c I too have a lesion that was said to be a heterotopia, meaning my white matter crossed the border into the gray matter area or vice versa, and that I was born that way. I have had MRI's with and w/o contrat since 2003 and only in 2005 was I told about this heterotopic area. In April 2006 I was diagnosed...
  3. Amen to that for sure!!
  4. Sorry white socks or socks in general and sandals has always been dorky. And no you are not old, just a bit off on fashion Jacqui
  5. I am right there with ya'!! Now I need to vent... I saw my 5th neurologist on Wednesday at UCSF, supposedly in the top 5 for neuro in the country, and I was basically told or it was inferred about me having depression. My husband and I strongly feel I am not depressed, TICKED off but not depressed. Well, I guess we are all a little depressed but not...
  6. FYI: Thank you for contacting Neutrogena.. It is always important to hear from our consumers, and we appreciate the time you have taken to contact us. In reference to your inquiry, our Neutrogena. Healthy Skin. Anti-Wrinkle Intensive Serum is gluten free. However, our Neutrogena. 7. CAN WE ALL PUT DOWN THE BRANDS WE ARE TALKING ABOUT? AND IF THERE IS A SAFE BRAND ie. paper towels/toilet paper... I never thought about stickers or fingerpaints and am now totally stressed out b/c my 6 1/2 y/o has celiac disease and of course she uses all that in school and home. I feel like such an idiot!!! So anyway if we could get a list of...
  8. Nivea and Pam (cooking spray) are not very gluten free friendly. I recently called both and they said: 1. Nivea - "we do not require our - oh dang the word is on the tip of my tongue - their suppliers to say where the ingredients come from ie. hydrolyzed protein...only food has to follow a law..." I told them Dove follows the International cosmetic_____...
  9. She must have it. Flattened villi, needs B-12 and folate and + genes=celiac disease!! I was told by my childrens pedi and I reead it I believe in Dr. Green's book that testing on children is inaccurate under 5 years old and they suggest testing at 7 years old. I would be adamant with her doc and say you want to know and you want to start her on the...
  10. sorry to hear about your Mom, but I doubt you can donate. I know I cannot donate b/c I was told by the blood bank and a bone marrow drive that because of my autoimmune diseases I cannot donate. I have the donor sticker on my license but I have a feeeling I'll be dontaed to scieance!!! (ha,ha,ha - actually no kidding) Your Mom is in my prayers, Jacqui
  11. Hi Jess, I don't really have any words of wisdom, but I too have the same thing going on. I keep waiting to wake up one day at 150lbs. (I'm only 5') b/c I eat beef nachos 1-2 times per day, followed by about 2-4 Hagan Daz chocolate with almonds ice cream bars and in between Dove chocolates. This has been going on since ~ January. I went from 122 down...
  12. My 8 1/2 y/o just had a biopsy and a bowel biopsy and she did not complain of any pain. (which she complains over everything!) I had a sore throat after the egd and no pain after the colonoscopy. They weren't done at the same time. The EGD was done after an ER visit for sever abd./flank pain and major vomitous (only once but at least 24 hours worth of undigested...
  13. I've been gluten-free since 4-06 and I think it is starting to catch up! Before I tried the low carb diet b/c my sister lost weight really quick. I did not lose an ounce! That was 2005. Pre-diagnosis I went up to 153 (i'm only 5' 1/2") joined weight watchers and lost weight quickly b/c I was not eating much gluten is what I believeI. I also think this is...
  14. Hi Jin, That is exactly what they sent me. Although everything listed is safe I am concerned for newly diagnosed seeing they list amaranth, millet, teff and quinoa as forbidden grains. Also, vinegar is safe unless it is from malt. To top it off the chemist asked me to update him. He's going to take my word for it?
  15. Hey Riceguy, I'll have to check that out. Right now I receive allergy shots to try to build my immune system up since I am allergic to everything except dogs! So this article sounds very interesting. Thanks. I just read an interesting article in The Sacramento Bee about a study done about women who eat a lot of hormone injected beef during pregnancy...
  16. I am in the US and when I called Colgate I received 2 different answers also. We use Crest, I called a couple times and received the same answer - it is gluten-free. We also use Listerine Agent Blue, if you haven't heard of it, you use it before brushing and it dyes the bad plaque areas so you can put more concentration in those areas. My daughter and...
  17. Hi again, I called CSA up and they said they will look into this beacuse in their book of gluten-free products they only have 6 listed!! I'll keep anyone interested posted... Jacqui
  18. I have no idea what the whole thread is about but I just wanted mention... Back when I was born ('68) my Mom said they NEVER mentioned anything about breast feeding. They (medical professionals) automatically gave her a shot to absorb the milk/help stop engourgement! It is awful that is what doctors felt back then...
  19. Hello All gluten-free Friends, I e-mailed Bonne Belle for any thing gluten free because my daughter likes their lip stuff and this is what they sent back. I am a little confused about the strawberry flavoring part and vinegar. I will try to e-mail them again and ask if it is a malt vinegar. I do not think they know much about celiac disease - I just noticed...
  20. I would definately think the doc should order the Celiac Panel now! I was dx'd last April and had bugged my sister (10 mon. later at her physical she requested the blood work - she too had "no symptoms") to get checked - long story short - her doc did the celiac panel; all her tests were >100, next EGD = villi completely flattened with I think scalloping...

    ARCHIVED Skin

Hi and thank you for responding. I really appreciate it! I am going to send this to my e-mail so hopefully I will not forget. I was thinking a long that line too, but my B-12 in November was ~565, so it was within the norm, but is that the norm for normal? Did that make sense? Is that # good for a celiac or do we need more?Thank you! By the way do you...

    ARCHIVED Skin

Hi, my name is Jacqui and I am very Forum illiterate, so I hope this is a good spot to post this question. I have noticed for maybe a month or so that as soon as I get in the shower my skin around my toenails and fingernails prunes instantly as if I have been in a bath for hours! I also went to take nail polish off and one of my toe nails just came off...
