ARCHIVED Gluten Free Lipsticks?
jacqui replied to holiday16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Smashbox for everything. I have also rechecked about a month ago and their lipsticks/makeup are still gluten-free EXCEPT their "lip treatments" which have an SPF in it and come in a white tube, I think an eye makeup remover and one other thing that I don't use anyway. Oh, and it is NOT SILLY. If you have a gluten problem or celiac disease than... -
Thanks for the 2 cents. I am a very bad eater. I don't know good carb from bad... I really should. That is great that you didn't go out and substitute. Of course I did, but then rarely ate what we bought - so wasted expensive food!

Welcome! I agree with the forum user about Atkins or I did Weight Watchers. Once you start eating gluten-free you have to be almost more cautious b/c gluten-free has more carbs most of the time. I was 40 lbs. over weight and did Weight Watchers, but that was 3 months before my diagnosis of celiac disease. I still don't eat much bread. Also, the...

My gastro, Dr. Gray at the Stanford Celiac Management Clinic told me I was one of his obese patients and that he is seeing more and more overweight patients with celiac. I started to gain weight ~2 years before diagnosis. I kept telling my PCP and he kept blaming it on my age (at the time 36!!), my thyroid (kept in low-mid norm range by my endocrinologist...

ARCHIVED So Sick Of This
jacqui replied to ReneCox's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Not all the companies do unfortunately, that is why it is best to call the company. I think I wrote about my pesto experience - the jar did not mention any allergies whatsoever, so I ate it and was sick for ~4 days. The company called back and said quality control said I should not eat it - too late We have had a lot of luck with calling. All the big companies... -

ARCHIVED Restless Legs Syndrom (rls)
jacqui replied to Smitten's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Sorry, no idea. I just had a sleep study and found out I have insomnia and a touch of RLS. All my doc said was the basic - stop caffeine early in day, do not use your brain an hour before bed(What??), don't sleep with the TV... Sorry, I forgot this was for RLS, obviously the things I just listed is for insomnia. I have seen commercials for an RX but if... -

jacqui replied to jhun's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi there, If you feel better stick with it. As for being Filipino, if you read Dr. Green's book celiac disease: A Hidden Epidemic, he says celiac disease knows no boundaries when it comes to ethnicity. It USED to be a predominately in Irish, English,...(Northern European), but now it is found eveywhere. Good luck! I hope you keep getting better... -

My husband and I callthe 800 #'s on the packages of food. The only time I had a gluten accident was when I was craving pesto sauce really bad. I read the ingredients and all it said was basil, pine nut, olive oil and garlic. It was a FRi. afternoon and I left a mesg. The company didn't call back, so I ate it anyway...Ended up in bed for 4 days not knowing... -
ARCHIVED Pamela's Bread Mix
jacqui replied to Anonymousgurl's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Where do you buy Pamela's? I know of her chocolate chip cookies but I am not sure if we have seen the bread mix. We were dx'd last spring and summer so we went and bought the Cuisanart breadmaker - it actually says for gluten free and low carb baking on the box. I used the gluten-free pantry frenchbread/pizza mix and followed the breadmaker instructions... -

My daughter sees Dr. Davies too. As for an Allergist, I go to Dr. Sunil Perera in Roseville. He is right across from the mall on Ravine Rd. 916-782-7758 I love him! He has actually done more for me than most of the many doc's I have seen in the past 11/2 yrs. Also, after my 6 y/o was diagnosed we asked for a referral to a Pedi Endocrinologist...

jacqui replied to Run-4-Jesus's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
My doc's ahve never addressed me about it, but I have noticed for years that my BGL is always just under 70. I have brought it up and the doc's just shrug it off. So if you hear anything please let me know. Jacqui -

Hi, this is my first time using the forum. I was dx'd Celiac April 2006, but Labor day weekend is when the poop hit the fan so to say(that Friday). I woke up walking like a drunk, absolutely brain dead and beyond tired. I actually slept from Sept. through ~February 2006 more than 20 hours a day. If my husband didn't wake me to eat I would keep on sleeping...
