jacqui replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We do the roll ups, cream cheese and the apples. What kind of rice cakes? Rice cakes and cream cheese or PB&J might work. She doesn't like most of the rest. I told her both of us are going to have to give different food a chance. I too am picky and she is like my twin! Pooor world.... Thank you! Any other ideas are more than welcome! Jacqui -

Thank you! We did buy a Cuisinart and were totally blown away when we read on the box "For gluten-free bread and Low Carb". How awesome that was to see after finally being dx'd with celiac disease and people thinking it is nothing or does not exist !!! So, if you bake it at home how do you store it? Freeze? but then it wouldn't be that great right?... -

I too have a 6 y/o, Hannah who hardly eats ANY of her meals. She has always been a picky eater, but now it is soo much worse. I also agree with what someelse put - the kids just want to play, so they eat a tiny bit and run out to play. My Mom also said when she has helped out at school she sees a majority of the kids throwing their lunches away. So we... -
I went, I signed up, But I couldn't find what you were talking about so I started to e-mail them and then got side tracked... Where do I look? My husband and I will do it this morning...

Ditto. It is almost a year now and I am sooo tired of people including most of the doctors I or family have had to deal with. NO ONE takes Celiac serious, well at least the people(including family!!) I have been dealing with have been completely ignorant. I can't go on it is late and I feel a rage of frustration coming on...

done-going ther now. My family and I keep saying I ned her doc's - Dr. Oz and Dr. Rosen(?). We were very disappointed in the View talk about celiac disease. My Mom told me they dedicated a whole show to depresasion, which is commercially announced every commercial celiac needed a whole show, not the last 10 minutes!!eak. Sorry but celiac needed a whole show...

jacqui replied to DeniseJarvis's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I don't have an answer, but I have read that a gluten-free diet is very helpful in psych diagnoses, autism and MS. I mean look at some of us on this forum who have gone through serious mood swings, temper tantrums, anger, depression...all related to gluten sensitivity/intolerance or celiac disease. Dr. H worte an article about celiac disease being brain only... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Else In Central Upstate Ny?
jacqui replied to TriticusToxicum's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I was for the Bronx and really grew up in Greenwood Lake NY (on the Jersey border about 50 min. northwest of the city), a small country town. I absolutely know what you guys mean about NY/NYC, I moved to California in '89 - WOW, I just realized how long I have been living out here - yikes People were so absolutely rude once they heard me talk, granted... -

jacqui replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I know exactly what you mean,r/t the country road... BUT I cannot really say I enjoy skunk smell, especially now. Gasoline "YUmm" I worked at a marina as a kid and pumped gas all day long in a bathing suit, on thje end of the dock on a lake, getting paid. It was a great time!! -
ARCHIVED Human Physical Charateristics
jacqui replied to deedub's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I just looked at my post and realized I totally missed my point. After joining W.W in Jan. 2006 we cut out gluten (without knowing I had celiac disease). We rarely had bread b/c in W.W point system there goes a lot of your points for the day (points = food). After being on the diet for a month or two I was staying awake but still very fatigued. I never put... -
ARCHIVED Human Physical Charateristics
jacqui replied to deedub's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Boy do I know where you are coming from in regards to being tested. My Celaic doc ordered the gene test and a second full panel after my first visit! Then my daughter who tested (-) for celiac, but has many symptoms and has a Pedi GI for BM issues (megacolon), this doc also ordered a second panel and the genes, plus did an EGD! Madeline is DQ2 and DQ8, which... -
I agree with a few other people - brain fog/cognitive impairment r/t celiac disease. I was just a great exzample I just went on and on about my daughter with celiac, whetras I meant to respond to the dyslexic ----I can't think of the word ----!@#$%^&*()I hate this thing!!! My Celiac doc told me it can take 2 good years before you get your brain...

ARCHIVED Human Physical Charateristics
jacqui replied to deedub's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My average wgt. was always for ~25 yrs. b/t 118-121lbs. and then like I said 2 years ago I told my doc something is wrong. I tried the Atkins diet and did not lose an ounce. I stopped drinking regular Coke, which I drank tons of and I did not lose an ounce. My doc blamed metabolism, but I have Hashimoto's thyroid disease and my endocrinologist keeps my TSH... -

Hi Paula, I haven't been at the forum too much or the computer in general. Hope all is well. I never thought about that with the hair! I use gluten-free everything too b/c my symptoms are so bad. I don't have DH although I have been having a lot of redness to skin lately even using dove exfoliating body wash, dish detergent... Just call the ... -

I am 5' 1/2" and 2 years ago when I think the brunt of it started I went from 120 up to 153!!! My doc's blamed everything on age (37 at the time), hormones... My Celiac doc told me I was one of his obese Celiacs and that he is seeing more and more obese celiacs. I am now 110, thank you weight watchers and not eating gluten. Sept. 2005- March 2006 I slept... -
Lipoma Or Angiolipomas? Or Lypomas?
jacqui replied to cyberprof's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I did a search after and I found a doc forum who said the pt. who has TONS of lipomas needs a Derm. Surgeon to consult. Then I went to the site below and then I came back here with the address before I forgot, so I haven't really checked it out, but it looked good. www.dermnetnz.org agiolipomas or Dercum (sp?) disease. Lipoma Or Angiolipomas? Or Lypomas?
jacqui replied to cyberprof's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I had no idea. I just thought it was from eating poorly - too much fats or something. I just had a lipoma removed from each flank. They thought possible cancer so they removed them, but they are benign. So I haven't thought about them since. I guess I'll do a little more research, when my brain feels like working. I have a lot of neuro prob's with celiac... -

ARCHIVED Red Eyes
jacqui replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It's not conjunctivitis, but thank you - I started to think that too. Last weekend it was really bad and it turned out that what looked like a vein was actually an eyelash!! It was deep, deep down in the lower lid and it was there the whole weekend! It drove me NUTS!!!! Other times though it is severe irritation from I don't know what. I do have allergies... -
ARCHIVED Red Eyes
jacqui replied to holdthegluten's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Good question! I don't have an answer either. I have been having serious eye irritation every so often, but moreso lately. I blamed everything but I forgot celiac. I believe I have read that Celiac can cause dry eyes which would cause the redness, irritation...BUT if strick gluten-free will you still have it or is it supposed to eventually go away? Do... -
ARCHIVED Delayed Growth As A Child
jacqui replied to PeggyV's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, it can cause growth delay. My daughter has a double whammy in that she also has Hashimoto's autoimmune disease, which also stunts growth and her bone age is less than 5y/o and she is 61/2. I myself am only 5ft. 1/2in. and have both also! I was always tiny and ate like I had a bottomless pit. My sister just finally got diagnosed with Celiac aftre my nagging... -

jacqui replied to TinkerbellSwt's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Again, I go by Dr. Green's book since he is the Director of the Celiac clinic at Columbia University and doing research on celiac disease...in the back I believe there is a "Myth section" and most of the stuff you seem to mention are there... -
I hear ya! My family has recently told me that they were telling people I was "nuts" or of course She has it...
