  1. I got offered a donut last week, too, and I'm not shy at all about my wheat allergy, so I said, thanks, but no, and then another coworker asked if it was rude to be offering the gluteny goodness and I assured her that no! I love to hear about the off-limits food because I think to myself, hmmm, now I am going to bake some gluten-free stuff just like this...
  2. I've had sinus infections all of my life and have been dx'd with chronic sinusitis. Sometimes I'll have to take antibiotics, but also try to avoid them, because sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. What I've found works best for me, weird as it may sound because I know that it's come under some fire, but, what works best, is eating right for my...
  3. I am gluten free again...I had the biopsy last week. I was originally dx'd with wheat allergy and my bloodwork came back negative, probably because I hadn't been eating much gluten at all for about 8 years. Any doubt that I had previously about staying away from all gluten has been removed and it was my own stupidity that told me to eat gluten for a while...
  4. Taz Sharratt, big hugs! You must be miserable! I would tell anyone who asks that it's the latest thing in fashion, haven't you HEARD? sparkle is out! But that's just me. My trusty book, "The Natural Home Doctor" recommends the following, fwiw: Aromatherpy: Tea Tree oil, lavender and myrrh Herbalism: Marigold, echinacea and garlic Homeopathy:...
  5. After a year of gluten-free and two weeks of eating gluten for a dh biopsy, I'm back to square one with the symptoms. Am I going to have to wait another year to feel better? Am I eating too much fiber? Ack... I will cook all veggies. I will do something...better...?
  6. Oh, that is sooo right up my alley. Thanks, I can't wait to try it! I can my own tomatoes, so may not be the best reference for this, but I'm pretty sure that almost all canned tomatoes are gluten-free. Just give a quick double check of the ingredients before you buy!
  7. ChelsE, so glad that you had a positive medical experience! I had one recently, too...and I think you explained quite well why some of us need the dx, as I'd always be questioning myself down the road, but also have family members who really need to be tested. I've got a young niece who was dx'd with wheat allergy, but who is now eating wheat with no symptoms...
  8. Add chopped dried cherries and you've got Cherry Garcia cookies. I used Bette Hagman's recipe and my gluteny friends couldn't keep their hands off of them!
  9. Seems that I remember from Bio 101 that the skin is the biggest organ of the body, so no, I don't think you're making a big deal over nothing. I'm not one to run to the doctor over every little thing, but I'd probably have it checked out, depending upon your level of discomfort and the amount of time that it lingers or recurs.
  10. Egads, I'm going to be banned from the board for not knowing how to get my mongrel home computer to behave the way I want it to. Sorry! This is the reply that I wanted to post under the quote! Thanks again...we do have a good one here, I'm just not finding anything on the web except for very expensive Chinese medicine, and then selenium and vitamin...
  11. Thanks, Nisla. After being diagnosed as allergic to wheat and staying gluten-free for over a year, then going back to ingesting some gluten for two weeks in order to be "presenting" for my biopsy, I'm as convinced as I need to be. I don't count dapsone as an option for me...and other than avoiding gluten and iodine, I was wondering if there is a naturopathic...
  12. Sorry about the smirky face on the folder next to my last post. Guess I know how to use all the emoticons now! Margaret
  13. Well, it took a while getting the right referral, but I finally had my biopsy done on Wednesday. Out of three dermatologists in my area here in Northern/Down East Maine, I ended up at one who actually new what dh is and could do the testing. And after seeing my share of bad doctors, I really lucked out. I had an appointment for Tuesday, but ended up calling...
  14. You gots ta love a site that can talk about poop frankly. I am still having weirdness after a year of gluten-free. Tell your doctor. I'm starting to tell mine, but it takes time to build up that kind of, shall I say, intimacy? All the best, Lister.
  15. Thanks so much Pegster and Armetta. Yesterday I went to my dr. and am awaiting a referral to a dermatolgist for a biopsy. Today I realized through a sketchy, but apparently thorough enogh food diary that I've been keeping for a very long time, that I've been gluten-light for the last eight years. If the biopsy comes back negative, I'll consider Enterolab...
  16. Hi, I have been gluten-free for about a year now and am still having intestinal problems occasionally when I'm pretty sure I haven't ingested gluten and also what I am fairly sure is DH on my face, but more on one side of it than the other. Is it possible to get an accurate biopsy of the DH at this late date if I am still dealing with it?
  17. Hi from Maine! I'm new to the forum but have been reading this wonderful resource for a short while now and I think I came in through the side door. I was having serious medical issues with the building where I worked and ended up at the allergist, who tested me for food and got positive results for wheat, corn and soy, among other things, in September...
